  1. Hopefully the Rexroth hydraulic stuff isn't as pricey as their servo drive stuff!! We have a CNC full of Rexroth stuff and WOW....they are proud of that stuff when it comes time to fix them.
  2. Looks like it was playing Jingle Balls???????? LOL!! Must still feel in the Christmas spirit??
  3. Isn't that was a relay valve is for? Making it react quicker? Put a large volume out to a valve , then use a small amount to control it. I grasp the concept of how the brakes work(on train and trucks) for the most part. I still marvel at how accurately these valves work back and forth. I remember back in the early days of the steel wheel dolleys on trucks, some even had flat pads that the wheels dropped through. That is how I can tell if a trailer is really old. I have also seen the automatic dollys work.
  4. Sumthin along these lines.......... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mack-Trucks-Lighted-sign-W-emblem-New-21x21x5-inch-eaton-twin-stack-econoliner-/130849987954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e77445d72
  5. So, you would have to air up the trailer to keep it in place to back under it again(I assume the tank would bleed down over time)? Or would you still be able to slip under without it moving? Inquiring minds........
  6. Two dimensions: Big and Heavy. Can't see it fitting in much of anything smaller then a B model to begin with. I know the Detroit crowd sticks theirs in pickups, but a 4banger is much smaller.
  7. Now that's road service!! Thanks Hat.
  8. Like to have something to mount to the outside front wall of garage? I think it would be pretty cool.
  9. Apprarently you don't know the super duper super secret handshake???
  10. I'm thinking it's a single axle. Don't think he had any tandems. General Towing had the "big boys" along with Oscars Towing back in the day. Wished I took pictures of all the stuff those two had back in the 70's. I need to get on Ron and see if he will dig up pictures for me.
  11. If they are tapered pins, they should come out easy enough. Had my truck apart in less then 3hrs, starting with jacking it up. Got to strip the spindles down to bare bones. With enough big tools from mechanic, it should go quickly. I didn't have any "big" tools back then. Yours might be a bit harder, but should be doable.
  12. Oh crap..........it is Friday and I just don't wanna think hard enough LMAO!!!!
  13. Same kinda scam here locally. News reports that you get a call saying your "xxx" was in an accident, but they are holding them hostage and you need to send money. One guy picked up his cell phone and called wifes cell and found her at work, okay. They have not been able to catch them yet. They are getting ruthless.............
  14. Well...hmmmm, guess that throws that out da window?? Most I have seen were like that. I wonder if there is more to it?? Like 72"20", meaning two digits on the end for double OD? 720 would be single over? My triplex is TRT 720.
  15. I'm really curious to get a close up look. It looks decent in the picture and that's the closest I've seen it. Always in the back corner of their shop, dark, 60ft from the street. I have a feeling it will go high, as I think it will draw a group looking to buy(and have the money to do it). I still see the owner of General towing on occasion, he sold out about 5 yrs ago now. Still wanting some pictures of ol #15 at work(my truck).
  16. One thing to remember, a single "0" on the end is single overdrive(ie: 7220). A "00" on the end means double overdrive.
  17. With all the stories of crime on the web, I'm looking into cameras too. Just in case. Had a guy in cleveland video his place getting robbed, and one of the guys even took his hood off, but they still don't know who they are? So, alot the cameras did. My newest Northern Tool catalog just showed up, for $300 you can get a 4 camera system, I know they offer wireless cameras too, but you still need power to them. Still not foolproof.
  18. Well, after alot of years another local towing company is going out. They are apparently retiring and selling everything, which includes a '66 B75 s/a wrecker. 1966 Mack B75 wrecker w/Weld Built bed, 20 ton, Thermodyne diesel, 13 speed Triplex trans., approx. 127,000 miles (truly a collectible vehicle). http://www.kikoauctions.com/?nav=auctions&details=2794 I've seen this truck sitting in the garage for too many years. Have a friend that worked there years back and says it never really went anywhere for a long time. The story is they had to have a big one for city work. I'd like to go over and check it out, auction is March 2nd. Got no money to spend on it, but I wonder what it will go for? My B came from "General Towing" in Canton, this is Rohrs Towing in Massillon.
  19. Power steering was optional back in the B days. There are trucks out there with it. You can retro fit something too, but it is not always just a bolt on. The non turbo 673(180 hp) will get the job done, but won't be fast. The 237 isn't a race horse either, but a bit more power. The 5spd behind a 237 will be easier to drive.
  20. I would guess. It takes air input and moves a rheostat to apply electric brakes. I've had my Warner for 10+ yrs without issue.
  21. No reason it can't do the task, as long as you have a decent truck to start with, mechanical wise. Who's going to drive it? Can they handle two sticks? A quad box would give you some nice slow moving gears, but if you only plan on street driving a duplex/triplex would work. I suppose it depends on how fast it is geared out back. Not sure about the DOT, but can't see if it is not up to par per 1960's legislation, it won't pass.
  22. I have a Warner. White box, red knob on the front for manual activation. Hooked it into the treadle valve and works great. I tried a "car" type pendulum, but with a very bumpy road it was BAD. The newer electronic versions are just as bad. They just ramp up to full power no matter what you want. That sucks too especially going down a long hill. Keep having to get on/off the brakes as the trailer kept dragging hard after a few seconds. http://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Controller/Warner/1300-80.html?feed=npn&gclid=CJPFwfiytrUCFYxDMgod-g0A6g
  23. Nope, 85 is all she has, all sticks in the biggest holes I can find LOL!!! I usually run the rear aux in direct, which gets me 72, which I run 65-68 or so for the most part. Man, I wish I had some more Umph! I did turn the screw up on my pump. It will put a nice steady haze out the pipes.
  24. Happy B day Rowdy! Hope it's a good one.
