  1. Welcome to the forums. The B model is a very popular truck. There are lots of replacement stuff made. Not everything, but plenty of parts trucks around to get the odd pieces not available. Motor? Plenty used around, but if you want to rebuild one then new parts are getting slim or NLA. Depending on where you are looking, you can get a decent truck for around $5K. Something that just needs TLC, not everything. Good cabs are hard to find, the rest of the sheetmetal is usually found on parts trucks. Like mentioned, buy the best. Buying a basket case will only run you broke.
  2. There is a whole fleet of PINK trucks running around NE Ohio. Can't recall the name on the doors, but it sure would be hard to sneak around driving one of those??
  3. Welcome aboard. Get some pics posted of the B75 when you get it home. We'll walk you through getting it running.
  4. I also have a Bulldog ashtray. Given to me by a friends widow as she knew I was a Mack guy. Unfortunately I don't smoke.
  5. Ya'll have a good time without me(if that is possible?). I'll be jam'n gears in Southern Ohio.
  6. Glad to hear you are getting your fire back!! Keep the faith.
  7. I have a copy of the paperback from back when the movie was released. Guess I need to read it to refresh my memory. I'm not much of a reader, so the movie was always better in that aspect. Though movies never copy the book exactly(as shown here). I'm guessing that typing another page in a book is alot cheaper then filming a few dozen scenes to pass along the same information. It's great to have you, Dan, to fill in all the blanks and answer all the questions. I also have High Ball'n in paperback. My two favorite movies growing up.
  8. That green one is a duplicate of what they had(not including the horse trailer). I have a picture of it somewhere, all loaded down with junk coming back from PA.
  9. Maybe someone slipped the front axle out of it when they put the bed on it??
  10. Welcome aboard!
  11. Friend had a 3/4 ton 4wd stepside that was red. 392/4spd. Got burnt up in a garage fire. Growing up his dad had a few Travelalls. I think 66? then a '72. I remember a road trip to PA in the '72 back after I met him.
  12. Sweet!!! I had a '72 1210 as my first truck!! Always thought those lil binders were very "truckly" looking. Them ol 345/392's would pass everything but a gas station!!!! What a difference 29 yrs makes........... (you can see the township markings painted over) The front brakes were non functioning when I bough it. Clutch was toast too. Don't get much for $150.
  13. Im too young to feel this dern old. Im finding easier ways to get places(ie: smooth highways) as it does wear on you driving these old beasts. Cool as it is it is getting not so fun.
  14. Nothing about 20ft of dirt on top wouldn't take care of. Right??
  15. My g/f was a keeper as soon as she came over and asked to watch DUEL!!! Now, this was only like the 3-4th date!!! Jeez, she falls asleep watching Uncle Buck(how the hell can you sleep through that?? It's freak'n hilarious). She volunteers to buy stuff for the race car and Mack. I threaten to sell stuff and she won't let me as she knows it's my passion. I don't allow things to get in the way of "our time" together.........at least not yet LOL!! It's only been 6 yrs, so give it time right??? I congradulate you guys that have near 40 yrs together. Man, that's an accomplishment that I'll never see.
  16. Never rust out, just stretch it across to the passenger door? (sorry, just can't think of much better right now)
  17. Starting to sound like me and my B. After 10 yrs of getting beat to death for hours on end trying to get to/from a race. I sure do miss my old F350 with cruise/tilt/AC. OH, and HORSEPOWER!!! I like the old truck, but it is getting to me. Not so bad if you can get on a nice level highway and just cruise it up to 70 and go. Back roads really suck. That 250 in your DM will move it around by itself pretty well. Put 20 ton of junk in the back and you'll see how gutless it is. It will get the job done, but not in any kind of hurry. I wish my truck had a 250, as I'm not heavy enough to worry. The 180hp gets mine around, but another 60 hp will be welcomed with open arms!
  18. Now that it's mashed on its side it isn't. Ok, ok, I was JOKING!!!! (I made the whole thing up) I thought SOMEONE might see the humor. Guess I failed on that one. We'll try again later.
  19. Does this chair make me look fat??
  20. I was curious as hell myself. Google is my friend LOL!!!
  21. Little backround on airport: http://forgotten-ny.com/1999/07/flushing-airport-part-1/ Peter Zaremba, writing in the April 22-29 Time Out New York, reports that Flushing Airport was opened in 1927 as Speed’s Airport (named for former owner Speed Hanzlik.) It became the busiest airport in New York City for a time. But, North Beach Airport opened in 1939 and, as LaGuardia Field, it quickly took business away from the older airfield. As the neighborhood around the airport was gradually built up, the airport became a liability. A fatal crash in the 1970s convinced locals that it should be closed, and it was in 1984.
  22. Neat, but really rough.
  23. Ditto that. The back of the cab don't look terrible(around rain gutter), but sides and doors? Floors? Likely not too pretty and for that kind of money?? Maybe about 1/2 that.
  24. I actually was going to dig up a Sonny Pruitt version, but that brown one will do. I really wanted to buy this one, but it's way over priced. I looked at it a few years ago: Got an 8v92 and a 10 spd. The picture doesn't look bad, up close it's a disaster.
  25. Actually, that is a later ACU model with an offset cab. The driver got out to unload and forgot to put down the kickstand. Thus the result of falling over(DOH!). The bus load of people all came over to see what all the commotion was about. It took another 50 yrs before Mack decided to try the offset cab ordeal again.
