  1. Dragging 50-60K lbs around with under 200hp would make for a very slow day. I know there are plenty of guys that have repowered old iron and run them today. I can't see a problem with it as long as everything is tight and functional.
  2. Vlad, Yes the trailer has sleeping area, hot/cold water, frig, micro. The car takes the back 20ft, the 12ft in front has cabinets and such(plus 4wheeler), then the bed is up over the neck(8ft). The trailer is 40ft overall, came empty, and I put all the stuff in myself through the years. The bunk is for the g/f to sleep and relax on the way to/from the track. She is a trooper as she used to bounce along on the buddy seat for hours on end trying to sleep upright. The bunk makes it much nicer for her. The car has a 428ci FE, Doug Nash 5spd. Best : 11:21 @ 120 mph. I bought the car from the original owners and it was very well kept with only 70K miles on it. Joe, the tarmac was packed full by noon(I got there just after 10am when it opened). There was a $10 fee for registration(basically a donation for MAPs). They had DJ playing music, some kind of Indian tribal demonstration going on, plus the Model A club brought a car that they would tear apart and put back together in like 10 minutes and drive away. Sorry I didn't get any other pics of the place.
  3. Had a cruise-in over at the airport, actually the Maps muesum(military planes)on the far side of the property. I took the truck/trailer/race car as some of the people from our local Ford club were attending. As I pulled in..........I figured I'd click a shot of something Rob dreams about every night............... Then, I clicked a shot of my junk taking up alot of room: I originally just parked the car, but the MAPs people told me to bring the truck over too, so I did. Car count was over 400 the last I heard. Neat display of planes and such. The hanger was open for all to poke around and see what they were working on. Been there a couple times in the last few years, but first time I ever came to the annual cruise in. Had lots of good conversations about car and truck. Ever retired trucker came by and told me a story or two.
  4. I'm not much taller, but long legs are a killer!!! I went to the left coast in '96. Four hours cramped up with people trying to knock you out as they made their way to the bathroom every few minutes(aarrgh). Knees into the seat in front of me, only a hard plastic sidewall to lean on(ugh). I do fly for work occasionally, if driving is out of the question. I have a friend(my size) that does business in China/malaysia, etc, and travels there in coach a few times a year. Good gawd that must be horrible. 747 or not, you are still packed in like sardines.

  6. Yup, Mike, I had those pics from Dennis saved on my favorites and looked it over many a time. Glad you got it, as I don't have the room here(just ask the township). Fly'n is ALWAYS an adventure. The "tools of my trade" are packaged in gun cases. You wanna have fun, come walking in an airport with a rifle and pistol case!!!! Well, it used to be fun(lots of courtesy and door opening for me) now I just UPS them beforehand and eliminate the hassles. The seats in coach aren't built for much more then an anorexic midget. Best I do is sleep to make the time go by quicker.
  7. Glad to hear it moved quickly. I got a buddy who buys/sells stuff constantly. Bought a early 90's Dodge pickup, 318/auto/air, etc. Low mileage, was going to keep it for his young son for when he gets his license. It was sold that night, on the way home. Made an easy $1K.................WTF??(I couldn't give water to a camel, just pisses me off). His shit does smell like roses LOL!!!!

  9. That is about going price, as mentioned the glass globe is a plus. That is about 40 minutes from me. I paid slightly less for mine last month and it has new plastic globe. If you are lucky to find one cheaper, but most want at least that retail.

  12. Dang, need that genset for my truck. Want to get rid of that noisy diesel unit I have. Works great, just too noisy. Kinda wondered how they made them work at slower speed. More poles...........duh. Wonder if I could investigate my generator and find a 4 pole and turn the speed down?? Adjust it for correct speed anyway. Of course you need enough HP to turn it, so that is an issue.
  13. Wow, looks to be an LJ? a fleet of B61's and at least one B67 with concave cab on the far right. And one Ford truck door!
  14. It's nice, I give it that. $55K, likely not. B's didn't come with black interiors and red velour seats. I would pay $55K for a muesum quality restoration, done just like the factory built, but not one like that. They might have that kind of money in it, but you will never get it back out. Oh, it also needs the correct fifth wheel, battery box lid(where's the second box?), fuel tanks, and whatever else. Where's the rest of the underhood shots and such? Where's the upper stack bracket? Seems that pipe would shake itself to pieces only being mounted by the lower band clamp. I do like the chrome wheels.
  15. The license plate was a give away on the basics. I knew right off it was a LM sumthinorudder as I've seen pics of those early offset cab trucks. Thanks for filling in all the blanks John.
  16. $212...............Cheap!!! Prices for my Rockwll rearend was $350 each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After looking at the LF drum on my B model, it did have heat cracks running across it. Don't want to ask what new ones are. Hope to put budds on it anyway, someday. Back on subject. Nice work so far on the neck. Gunno outlast you I'd say.

  18. I remember this one from Syracuse. Man.........that thing is HUGE!!!!!!!!!! Very cool unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always liked the picture of the all wheel drive 3 axle B model that is in a book I have. Monster!
  19. Mark, get on youtube and search "longroadpro" as they did the red LT on video. Awesome sounding truck with 320 iron lung Cummins. One of my favorite tapes to watch.
  20. How about just posting links to Photobucket? That way you aren't using valuable BMT bandwidth. It won't show the pic here, but we can clickie the linkie and see them.
  21. Best way I know is to loosen nut behind wheel(ah, well, the little hex not the driver LOL). Leave it on the end of the threads to protect them. Have someone lift up on the wheel and someone smack the top of the threaded shaft with a BFH. Should "pop" it loose. Maybe a touch of PB blaster to help it along. MIght take a few shots, but likely come right off. I have only removed one wheel like that and it was on a loose steering box in the garage. Don't think the column actually comes off the box, so you'll have to drop the box off the frame and lower the column down through the floor.
