  1. Friend had a 3/4 ton 4wd stepside that was red. 392/4spd. Got burnt up in a garage fire. Growing up his dad had a few Travelalls. I think 66? then a '72. I remember a road trip to PA in the '72 back after I met him.
  2. Sweet!!! I had a '72 1210 as my first truck!! Always thought those lil binders were very "truckly" looking. Them ol 345/392's would pass everything but a gas station!!!! What a difference 29 yrs makes........... (you can see the township markings painted over) The front brakes were non functioning when I bough it. Clutch was toast too. Don't get much for $150.
  3. Im too young to feel this dern old. Im finding easier ways to get places(ie: smooth highways) as it does wear on you driving these old beasts. Cool as it is it is getting not so fun.
  4. Nothing about 20ft of dirt on top wouldn't take care of. Right??
  5. My g/f was a keeper as soon as she came over and asked to watch DUEL!!! Now, this was only like the 3-4th date!!! Jeez, she falls asleep watching Uncle Buck(how the hell can you sleep through that?? It's freak'n hilarious). She volunteers to buy stuff for the race car and Mack. I threaten to sell stuff and she won't let me as she knows it's my passion. I don't allow things to get in the way of "our time" together.........at least not yet LOL!! It's only been 6 yrs, so give it time right??? I congradulate you guys that have near 40 yrs together. Man, that's an accomplishment that I'll never see.
  6. Never rust out, just stretch it across to the passenger door? (sorry, just can't think of much better right now)
  7. Starting to sound like me and my B. After 10 yrs of getting beat to death for hours on end trying to get to/from a race. I sure do miss my old F350 with cruise/tilt/AC. OH, and HORSEPOWER!!! I like the old truck, but it is getting to me. Not so bad if you can get on a nice level highway and just cruise it up to 70 and go. Back roads really suck. That 250 in your DM will move it around by itself pretty well. Put 20 ton of junk in the back and you'll see how gutless it is. It will get the job done, but not in any kind of hurry. I wish my truck had a 250, as I'm not heavy enough to worry. The 180hp gets mine around, but another 60 hp will be welcomed with open arms!
  8. Now that it's mashed on its side it isn't. Ok, ok, I was JOKING!!!! (I made the whole thing up) I thought SOMEONE might see the humor. Guess I failed on that one. We'll try again later.
  9. Does this chair make me look fat??
  10. I was curious as hell myself. Google is my friend LOL!!!
  11. Little backround on airport: http://forgotten-ny.com/1999/07/flushing-airport-part-1/ Peter Zaremba, writing in the April 22-29 Time Out New York, reports that Flushing Airport was opened in 1927 as Speed’s Airport (named for former owner Speed Hanzlik.) It became the busiest airport in New York City for a time. But, North Beach Airport opened in 1939 and, as LaGuardia Field, it quickly took business away from the older airfield. As the neighborhood around the airport was gradually built up, the airport became a liability. A fatal crash in the 1970s convinced locals that it should be closed, and it was in 1984.
  12. Neat, but really rough.
  13. Ditto that. The back of the cab don't look terrible(around rain gutter), but sides and doors? Floors? Likely not too pretty and for that kind of money?? Maybe about 1/2 that.
  14. I actually was going to dig up a Sonny Pruitt version, but that brown one will do. I really wanted to buy this one, but it's way over priced. I looked at it a few years ago: Got an 8v92 and a 10 spd. The picture doesn't look bad, up close it's a disaster.
  15. Actually, that is a later ACU model with an offset cab. The driver got out to unload and forgot to put down the kickstand. Thus the result of falling over(DOH!). The bus load of people all came over to see what all the commotion was about. It took another 50 yrs before Mack decided to try the offset cab ordeal again.
  16. Since I grew up watching Movin On, I'm a KW fan at heart. All the big fancy bunks, long frames and such are cool, but I also like them stock appearing with classic 70's paint schemes. .
  17. Why not find complete housing with 4.xx gears? Gotta be a scrapped out B model you can get the whole thing from cheap enough? Unbolt the spring hangers and slip the whole thing in. This is what I sold Mike:...............(less tires)
  18. Doh!!!!! That's a good one though LOL!
  19. You'll have to drive it to see the difference. Or put a pressure guage on the line going to the chambers to see the pressure difference. Once I hooked mine back up, I made the mistake of trying it one day. Oops. Only do it in a safe place(if you are a single axle with no load). Man. it don't stop for nut'n!! Guess it works?? LOL!!
  20. That black wrecker is Superdogs(Mike Harbison). It's got a shiny 290 in it and it's geared really, really fast. My truck is geared for about 85, and I've had it north of 75 a couple times. The speedo drops down (due to OD in brownie), so I don't know the actual speed. I ran outta road(flat ground) so I couldn't stretch it any further. She's smooth as glass at the speed.........just ahum'm along.
  21. Bodyman friend built a toybox for his kids stuff out of a late 80's mustang back half many years ago. Another friend had his wife do a mural of his vehicles on a wall in their house. I told him to now go buy a tailgate and hang it on the wall on the in the spot where the rear of his '32 roadster pickup was at. Kinda like sitting on the tailgate of his own truck.
  22. Nice cab!!!!! Wish there was alot of them around like that.
  23. Close second at least................
  24. Go down to local nursery. Buy a handful of tree seedlings. If they show up and bitch just point to your truck and say you're going to put NEW ones back up. LOL!!!
