  1. Dan, simply amazing trucks. I'm GREEN with envy! Still dig out my Lindsey videos to watch you and your trucks.
  2. That trailer looks ROUGH!! Yup, unless they are clean and roadable now...they are a money pit to make them such. Might start down the road and find you've got a flatbed soon after since the body falls off!!! I had to do a double take on the B61, thinking it was actually a B67 concave cab. That is until I realized it was just crunched that way, not made that way LOL!!!
  3. Still has 5 hole budds up front? That is priced RIGHT!
  4. Welcome aboard. Next he'll say is it has a V8 in it!!! Don't let Rob know where it's parked, when he goes to Nevada he might sneak up and drag it home too??? He is trying to corner the market on 700's! Oh, yes, pictures. We love pictures.
  5. Oh, no biggie. Didn't think I came across so rough, til I just read it again. NO harm, no foul. Guess I shoulda put one of after it.
  6. It's bright, but almost not obnoxious. Kinda cool in it's own way.
  7. Morgan, I got really, really lucky with my 673 a few years ago when I popped a stud in the back left. I drove it 140 miles home, just started to burp antifreeze on the windsheild when I got home. I was able to unscrew stud and install new one and torque it down. Been two years and still okay. Heard plenty of stories of this stuff happening and guys fixing on the side of the road and no problem. In this instance, I'd almost go ahead and put a gasket on it. Like mentioned, it's A LOT easier while sitting on the ground in front of you then IN a truck.
  8. Reread my post. I said they are miserly (like "don't use much"), not miserable. My 2000 CC DRW PSD only got 15+ on the highway, but it had 4.10 gears. If you can keep them UNDER 2000 rpm they are great on fuel. I ran it up to Michigan one weekend. On the way up I ran 75-80 mph and it got 12 mpg. On the way home I kept it at 65 mph and it got 15-16 mpg. Very noticable difference. "Most" dodges only had 3.54 gears out back, so they really idled on the highway. Fords don't get geared that way. Back in 2001 I went to Florida. There were 4 of us(2 Ford, 2 dodges). Buddys Dodge had 3.54 gears and it might have done a bit better on fuel(be both had big trailers), but mine would pull Fancy Gap in 6th gear(OD) and hold 55 mph without issue. Buddy was lagging behind badly and I had to wait for him at the top. Both trucks were basically stock(no chips/exhaust). I know he did a LOT of downshifting since it was geared so long. Not what I would call a proper set up. Maybe for daily driving, but not pulling.
  9. Well, Bob, every year Larry get ANOTHER one restored and takes it out to play in the dirt. Nothing is sacred. Notice the old Ford T dump getting all banged up? Throw in a few draglines too:
  10. Been going to that show for many years. The NEO chapter of ATHS has our monthly meeting and bring lots of trucks for display purposes. Larry Kotkowski is an ATHS member and owns Lakeside. Very cool show, lots of noise/smoke. More then dozen cable shovels, half dozen Euclid type dumps moving around. Food, tours of the grounds. Bring the family. I should be be there, look me up. Sorry Vinny, no U models. Too new for this show LOL!!! Here are some random shots I have from years past.
  11. Those early Dodge Cummins were pretty miserly on fuel. I don't doubt you'll get 20+ on the highway. Our shop has '95 F250/PSD and it gets an easy 20+ mph on the highway with 3.73 gears. It has 250K miles on it.
  12. I hate driving on roads that have slush/ice built up inbetween the lanes. As shown, it only takes one millisecond for it to go ALL WRONG. Sad what happened. The world will never know WHY it happened(on phone, texting, or just day dreaming). Speculate all you want. Lost an employee last week, died in his sleep. We are all still stunned, been a 25 yr employee, hired right after me. LIfe if precious. How's that song go........"Live like I was dieing"
  13. I know Aetna had an office next to my buddies machine shop for years. It closed some time ago and the little building torn down. I remember the sign. Looks like sign says Warren, Ohio which is about 45 minutes east of me. Would be neat to tinker with. Even if to not restore, but just make it run again.
  14. Well, that does not seem to be the case for EVERY car...................
  15. Could you imagine if they had U models?? They would be leaning to the right side!!! LOL!!!
  16. Wow....that's cool. Didn't think both handles were air shifted? Very unique set up. Bet you had to be very "ginger" with it to get it to shift smoothly? Wonder how much "feel" you have in the controls? Wonder if you could bolt that onto any Triplex? If it still worked right, wonder if you could transplant it into a B Model or something like that. Make up a console to hold the controls. That would be really different!
  17. Sorry to hear this Dan. I remember seeing his truck in one of Lindseys videos.
  18. I have a pair of gallon milk jugs I put on my pipes to keep water out if it has to sit outside for a period of time. Usually just hit the button and make the exhaust pop them off so I just have to pick them up instead of climbing up to get them! Some of the show guys take coffee cans and put yard sticks on them so they can hang them on their tall pipes. I'm not that fancy LOL!!
  19. Um.........I'm thinking more along the lines of "spaghetti"......................
  20. Mines kinda stiff when cool. My lil brownie box is the same and it's only got fresh 50wt oil in it.
  21. I like it. I like the trailer!! Like I have any need for it. Looks decent.
  22. Til my back stops ach'n, that's my plan. Don't work to well as I got too much crap to do. Been putting off getting tranny back in race car(groan), but went and wrestled that prick back in today. Good to finish off the rest of the stuff I need to do AFTER tranny is back in. Does it ever end?????? Maybe tomorrow?
  23. Hmmmm, I want one of those quiet models(inverter style). Got a nice Yanmar 3700 watt diesel I want to trade off. Got a new Northern Tool catalog the other day, got a new brand inverter type, priced reasonable(compared to Hondas). Been dreaming, but just haven't taken the plunge yet.
  24. Don't cha just love it when something falls in your lap like that?? Makes you just smile
