  1. Hey Bill, glad to see you here. All else fails??? tape off the column/wheel and paint around it??
  2. Dang, need that genset for my truck. Want to get rid of that noisy diesel unit I have. Works great, just too noisy. Kinda wondered how they made them work at slower speed. More poles...........duh. Wonder if I could investigate my generator and find a 4 pole and turn the speed down?? Adjust it for correct speed anyway. Of course you need enough HP to turn it, so that is an issue.
  3. Wow, looks to be an LJ? a fleet of B61's and at least one B67 with concave cab on the far right. And one Ford truck door!
  4. It's nice, I give it that. $55K, likely not. B's didn't come with black interiors and red velour seats. I would pay $55K for a muesum quality restoration, done just like the factory built, but not one like that. They might have that kind of money in it, but you will never get it back out. Oh, it also needs the correct fifth wheel, battery box lid(where's the second box?), fuel tanks, and whatever else. Where's the rest of the underhood shots and such? Where's the upper stack bracket? Seems that pipe would shake itself to pieces only being mounted by the lower band clamp. I do like the chrome wheels.
  5. The license plate was a give away on the basics. I knew right off it was a LM sumthinorudder as I've seen pics of those early offset cab trucks. Thanks for filling in all the blanks John.
  6. $212...............Cheap!!! Prices for my Rockwll rearend was $350 each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After looking at the LF drum on my B model, it did have heat cracks running across it. Don't want to ask what new ones are. Hope to put budds on it anyway, someday. Back on subject. Nice work so far on the neck. Gunno outlast you I'd say.
  7. I bet the West coast guys were just cringing at all the MACKs LOL!! Unlike out their way where it's all Pete's and KW's.
  8. I remember this one from Syracuse. Man.........that thing is HUGE!!!!!!!!!! Very cool unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always liked the picture of the all wheel drive 3 axle B model that is in a book I have. Monster!
  9. Mark, get on youtube and search "longroadpro" as they did the red LT on video. Awesome sounding truck with 320 iron lung Cummins. One of my favorite tapes to watch.
  10. How about just posting links to Photobucket? That way you aren't using valuable BMT bandwidth. It won't show the pic here, but we can clickie the linkie and see them.
  11. Best way I know is to loosen nut behind wheel(ah, well, the little hex not the driver LOL). Leave it on the end of the threads to protect them. Have someone lift up on the wheel and someone smack the top of the threaded shaft with a BFH. Should "pop" it loose. Maybe a touch of PB blaster to help it along. MIght take a few shots, but likely come right off. I have only removed one wheel like that and it was on a loose steering box in the garage. Don't think the column actually comes off the box, so you'll have to drop the box off the frame and lower the column down through the floor.
  12. That's purdy...........just like when I got mine back from Mason auto parts. Color?? Oily black is my best guess. That's what mine is anyway LOL!
  13. I know when I loaded this on Mike's trailer, the ol bobcat was gruntin' (no tires though)
  14. Seems I recall that truck being sold from down south somewhere and getting shipped over there?? Sounds good.
  15. You can tell it's a detroit right away. Even at idle, it's very noticable what it is.
  16. Depends. If I get lazy I start it and pick them up.
  17. Not sure, but I would bet any duplex/tri/quad would physically bolt in. The only problem I see is the tri/quad has a longer back box so the driveshaft would be shorter(meaning those would not be a direct bolt in---but doable).
  18. TERRY...................I SAID YOU CAN BRING THE LIGHTS OVER WHEN YOU DROP OFF THE CHROME PANELS.............. Better??
  19. You can't fix stupid. In a conversation the other night with some of the gf relatives, they mentioned something about drinking 10 kids drinks(those lil plastic jugs of colored syrup water) and not getting sick. I guess they got their football coach in HS to try. He got like 5-6 of them before puking his guts out. Remember the girl that died from drinking a gallon of water in one shot at a radio station competition?
  20. Yes, typical red air suspension mechanic seat. It's very bright, as the bulbs aren't fluted glass, just a smooth sealed beam. My buddy was over yesterday and helped get it set up on there. When he came over today, he remarked it's quite LARGE sitting on top of the truck when he pulled in the driveway. The chrome base is like 4-5" tall, then the dome is another 5-6" tall. I like it. Terry, just bring them over when you drop off all that chrome interior panels?? Huh? right?
  21. I got to sit in Dr. Bills elusive W model back at Syracuse Nat convention. Got to speak with him too, about the videos he made with Lindsay. If I recall he had signs on all his trucks telling you to hop in and look around. That was 9 yrs ago!!!
  22. Back when I got my truck it had a very small KD light on the roof. Nothing much, but I suppose it was as good as they were going to do for it. I always wanted to upgrade, though I don't ever have a real need for a warning light. Few years ago I came across this big four bulb Signal Stat at our local clubs winter auction. Got it cheap and it's pretty nice unit. After some internet searching, I came across a site from a fellow that specializes in old warning lights and police/fire equipment. He was only an hour north of me to boot. I found this very cool Federal model 175 "hill light" and just had to have it. Originally he had it set up with red or blue lights. I requested amber, so he switched it for me and assembled it with new gaskets(which he has made). The globe is very nice(not sure if it's a repop too?). We met up just a couple minutes north of me as he was coming down to the infamous Hartville Flea market. Note the angled white bulbs to throw light up/down a hill to be seen better then just the level bulbs. He also had the "5-0" model(like they showed on Hawaii 5-0 beginning theme) which doesn't rotate, just oscillate back and forth. I got some time this afternoon to get it mounted up.... Very cool(at least that's my opinion). Much better fitting to a old truck then that later model stuff. I'm now ready for the big July 4th parade that I plan to participate in this year.
  23. I hate to have pull it apart to recheck, but I'm positive there was no wear ring on my spindle. I wiped it off and the surface perpendicular behind it. Nothing out of the ordinary, no edges, nothing. Nothing on the forward edge of that seal surface, along it's perpendicular surface down to the bearing race surface.
  24. Go here: http://vsm.skf.com/e...eediSleeve.aspx They have a full listing. Page 12: Part no 99363 covers a 3.625 shaft, .500 wide which should take care of it. Looking at mine, it doesn't look like you can replace the area where the seal rides? (does not look shrunk on there). Maybe I wasn't looking close enough? I understand the Stemco design after the fiasco with my air ride last summer. This did not have anything like that on the spindle.
