  1. Not sure how that box style signal control works? I know the the column mounted ones can be wired to flash brake lights(as that is how mine is). I'm thinking they are designed specific and can't be converted?? Seen the box style, but don't know anything about them.
  2. Easy way to fix it............black magic marker the "Lo-Lo hole" of compound out. Then you'll have a shift plate for a Triplex LOL!!! Same plate I have in my truck and it's a Triplex also. Don't think anyone is repopping them? If you were handy with photoshop and had a scanner you could make one.
  3. More parts today Spicer 6041 4 spd box: Lining up the pieces: Now that I figured out how things are going to mount, I can slip the new frame rails up and start bolting things.
  4. Any old Mack motor runs 1500-2100 rpm. You're basically running it too slow to make the shifts. Runn'r up close to the govenor and then shift. Downshifting, let it drop down to about 1500, that way you have RPM to increase enough to catch the lower gear. REMEMBER..............you have to be going fast enough to UPSHIFT, you can't lag it along like a car as the gears will never get fast enough to mesh for the next faster gear(especially in the main box). My first summer was a real learning curve too as I had no one to teach me!!! No youtube to watch either!!
  5. Mine is tach cable. I can just get it pulled out enough to get it from the front/top side. Still takes long, skinny fingers. Make sure they have some slack in the tach cable out in the engine bay, as if they have it tied tight, you might not be able to pull dash out to get to it. Lots of other stuff back there, but tach is the main hold up.
  6. Check cables. Make sure you don't have any loose connections or bad ones. If the cables looks beat up, then likely need replaced. After I tore mine down to do the 12v conversion, I realized that likely the most likely suspect to the bad starting(with 24v set up) was the bad cable ends. Yes, if they did leave the 24v starter in, it likely won't turn over very well with only 12v. Can't believe they would do that though?
  7. Well, today was a milestone(and there ain't no going back) got the last 12" whacked off and the suspension is gone This morning I went and picked up my lastest donation to the cause: 42" bunk made by Bentz. Pretty nice inside, just needs a cleaning and a mattress. Not sure how close the white is on the outside. Have to figure out the painting part later. Got a brownie box picked out and will be getting it Monday. I'll have one of the fastest B's in Ohio. Top speed should be up around 85 mph!! If it's got enough HP to get it there. Should have a good handle on any slow speed races too with something deeper then 26:1 in first!! Tomorrow I will be cleaning up frame rails and getting some paint on them so I can slip the new rails over. I've got to get the crossmember situation figured out for the brownie before proceeding.
  8. Gotta agree, a rollback would be a good deal, though it might get kinda hung up on the approach? Depending on ground clearance of towmotor. We have local rental places(heavy equipment) and surely they would move something like that. Not going to be cheap, as I think they want $65 each way(?) to delivery a manlift(when I checked some time ago).
  9. Hey, look at it this way, double that and you'll be UNDER 300lbs.....LOL!!! Momma might have to go clothes shop'n now!!
  10. LOL!!! Well, I had to wait til my last race in October before I could start on this lil project. I was collecting pieces and getting things inline so hopefully it will changeover quickly. I'm likely going after the bunk this Saturday. Once that's home I'll confirm minimum length I need and then next week try to get the frame rail slid onto the truck. Then it's just a matter of hooking everything up. I already got the air bags replumbed and ready for air. Still need new shocks. Also working on maybe finding a brownie box to add instead of carrier bearing in driveshaft. Have one connection, but not sure it will pan out?(at least soon enough). He also has a "fresh" crated 250hp Mack motor!! ENDT673C. That would make me VERY, VERY happy!! Not sure the pocket book will survive that right now?
  11. Mike I started a post on the frame job. Yes, only very skinny people can work on my truck(while inside) LOL!! The garage is large, but with the extra interior wall next to the truck it gets pretty tight.
  12. Ok, here's the official thread to show the progress on my B model. What I bought: After blasting and painting: Getting truck ready: remove diesel genset fifth wheel removing fenders, etc It's to the point of removing the rear axle. Everything is unhooked, just need to get my hands on buddy's BIG jackstands to hold truck up. The rear hitch set up is fully welded to the rear crossmember/frame rails and since I have to cut about 12" off the back of frame it's not an issue.
  13. Here's mine: Does yours have the clips out by the stacks? I've seen some of the B's with a stainless bar across the top of the window with a long spring to support the air lines. Mine already had a pogo stick, though it was beat, so I got a new one.
  14. Looking good Tom! You missed the big pile up just south of IX center on I71. I got stuck in it for a short while as it had just happened and was only 1/2 mile backup. Had a great time Sunday.
  15. I'm thinking it's the V8 and the column is moved back to clear all that motor. Not sure about all the power steerings, but didn't "most" have power assist, not an actual power box back then?
  16. Got any "Change" you can spare??? LOL!!
  17. Well, made the trip all well and good. Stopped in Friday afternoon to say "Howdy" to Barry. Been a few years since I was over that way. B-S'd until about 6pm and then headed over to the track(few miles up the road). Spend the night at the track and then had the Nostalgia race on Saturday. Did fairly well, went 4 rounds. Won a few bucks and headed home. Rolled in just a bit ago and ready for bed. Got a couple days off to R and R. Truck ran flawlessly. Good ol Girl!! Doing a quick mileage check, it got about 9 mpg running the pike. Not bad for 50 yr old truck.
  18. Unfortunately, probably not. I'm heading to Pitsburgh on Friday for a race on Saturday. Gates open at 8am, and didn't feel like getting up that early. Not sure how late it will run and not sure I'll come home til Sunday? Going to play that one by ear. If anything I might cruise up in my grey pickup if I'm up for it. After the trip to Pitts., not sure I want to drive the Mack up to Wellington on Sunday.
  19. Thanks. Didn't have any way to confirm, didn't think the guy would screw me over. The other prices kinda looked in line.
  20. I switched my Mack, but put an alternator on it, so didn't have to worry about repolarizing Generator. Switched the leads on AMP meter. Starter doesn't care polarity, it turns only one way no matter what. Everything else doesn't care polarity, unless you have a radio in it? Most CB's have two leads, just swap them. Doubt it has a stereo?
  21. Working on getting new parts for my air ride. I don't have the proper Neway part numbers so local parts place won't help me. Guy I got cut off is getting me parts. New bags : $177 each. Sound alright? too steep? These are the big bags. Kinda hoped they would be $150/pr, not each. Shocks are $50/ea so I know that's not bad. New bushing is $100, that's livable. Anyone bought bags lately?
  22. Ohhh, could you imagine the disaster in waiting there..............Wow. Don't know how that bull didn't stomp through the floorboards of that Pontiac??
  23. Welcome aboard! Neat F model. Hope you have fun with it.
  24. Glad to meet you Ken! Thanks for stopping by. Not that I'm hoping for the end of the racing season, but I'm really anxious to see how this is going to go together. Can't wait to try it out!
