  1. Most "alkys" know they don't have a problem: They drink, they get drunk, they fall down. See, NO problem.
  2. ?? Where is this "heat" coming from? Got me cornfuzed. The shutters are sprung open(failsafe), as long as the motor is cool, it uses air to close the shutters and try to build heat in the motor. Once it sees a specific heat, it closes the valve and allows the spring to pull the shutters open. Even with a thermostat, I don't think an idling diesel will create that much heat? Most times they tell you to get them up to 1000 rpm or so. Only during hot summer days does mine get hot enough to open the shutters while idling for any time, but usually only after it's been on the road not persay just out of the garage. I would assume the shutterstar is also sprung so it's failsafe is closed so it won't hold the shutters closed if something goes awry.
  3. Insulation? Sound deadener?? What?? You want to actually be able to talk while traveling? Huh? Come on...........LOL! I can't WAIT to see it in person! Of course, they'll park me in the back 40 while YOU get the front row spot at Thompson. (unlike last year). Pete was takin care of me
  4. Wow..........still love model railroading even thought I don't have a layout anymore. I'm hooked on 7 1/2" scale stuff now(though can't afford it either LOL! ). Local group has a set up at a local state park that has public runs a couple times a year. Just another money pit LOL!!!!
  5. Oh........I can see it now................... "Newsflash".............walking and running is deadly due to the high risk of getting run over by some shmuck that is texting/talking/doing their taxes while driving. It's better to just stay at home and sit around. Sad part is if people would eat properly they wouldn't get FAT!!! Duh. My job is alot of sitting around and I'm not obese. Oh, I watch what I eat and it takes care of itself.
  6. Might have been Dennis at OMT that had a crewcab B model from a fire truck for sale some time back? Would be a way cool toy hauler!
  7. Cool stuff Trent. Way back(late 70's) I had a 1/87 Transtar COE truck/trailer that I drilled and put headlights into(all metal-like a matchbox) and put the batteries in the trailer. Cool to play with on the old train set at "night". This had true 18 wheels on it also, not "super singles" LOL! Wish I still had it.
  8. And therego the reason we're in this freak'n mess. I can still remember those commercials from a few years back. "Refiance a $350,000 house for $500/month"........Say WHAT??! OH, that only covers the interest and none of principal.......so 30 yrs later you still owe $350,000. Oops, did everyone forget to read the fine print? Oh ya, anyone PRICED a new truck lately? Geezus. $45-50K dollars! My first house didn't cost that much.
  9. Canadian Pontiac Eh? LOL!! Ya, buddy has a '68(or '69 I forget)Beaumont in his garage(Canadian Chevelle). Hmmm, guess I'll be going to Thompson again(weather permitting). Hate to miss out on YOUR B model this year
  10. Heck even if they WERE Pete wheels we ALL know that a Pete spends so much time in the shop it surely won't need them anyway(owner probably sold them to pay for fixing the truck...again).....
  11. Before I moved I was down to less then 10 yrs on my house. That all went out the window 6 yrs(already) ago. Don't owe anyone anything but on house and plan to keep it that way. I've been on 4 days for last 3 months, so I've gotten used to PBJ sandwiches and not going out alot. G/F been making dinner instead of going out(and me paying most times). IF and WHEN things get better I won't know what to do with all the extra money Oh, ya, just got my property tax bill Saturday There goes a nice chunka change
  12. Dam.............I missed a few days here and one post goes 10 pages in 24 hrs? Jiminy crickets.
  13. I guess you have to put a W motor in that Pontiac..................but ohhhhh, what a pity. Not sure about the gasser show as it's moved to Norwalk. Is Thompson going to have their own show too?
  14. I figured all the 'bama sticker went away with the Cash for clunkers vehicles?
  15. There are ALOT of variations of B models out there and finding the right one might take some time. Some hints: find one with Maxi brakes(not the old hand brake), geared for highway speed(60+) unless you don't plan on going but across town. Lots of typical rust areas, finding one that is super nice will cost you. The ability to get your hands dirty will make it easier. Except for a few big ticket items, your standard socket set will work. Good luck.
  16. Our company tried to rent a tractor for just one day, I needed to haul some large machinery to the local scrap yard(borrowed friends trailer). They wanted $5000 up front down payment, though the rental was just like $200/day(pretty cheap what ever it was). I ran it all day around town and hardly moved the fuel gauge(didn't put fuel in it). Dropped it back off and we got our deposit back in couple days. It was like pulling teeth as they really didn't want to do the deal, but the kid I'd been dealing with pulled it through as he had been trying to rent me straight trucks for years. They want to deal with big corps, not little guys.
  17. I also had some kinda of NHRA drag racing game for my computer. I tired, but it's so freak'n complex I got bored with it. Basically top fuel funnycar/dragster and you set everything up. Ended up blowing it up/crashing more then anything. Guess I need to stick with just Space Invaders LOL!!! Asteroids!!! Even Pac Man. I've made slow headway on race car and B model. I got a call the other day about my air ride cut off as it will be likely ready to pick up next week. Won't be cutting on it oh too soon, but it will be here ready for warm weather. Got me a FREE 42" bunk for it too. The g/f don't know what to do with herself now. The race car I've redone the front springs/shocks, tinkering with tranny, clutch is just a clean up(no work needed). Painting the firewall and it'll be ready to bolt back together.
  18. If it was Chinese.......it would be a grineL stand. Since their "R" and "L" is backwards compared to American.
  19. Yup, wondered when "winter" was going to get here..........then allofasudden...........IT'S HERE!!! Been single digits at night, low 20's during the day....YUK!! Been having fun with the ol Cub Cadet and plowing snow though(only kinda fun you can have in the snow). Can't wait for the warm up!
  20. The fellow I bought my B model from sold out his towing business a couple years ago and now works at Adelmans. I try to keep contact with him ocassionally. There are quite a few gear differences, but I think the box itself is the same between Tri and Quad. The rear box is what makes the major difference(2,3,4 splits). My triplex makes noise on the coast side of 5 OD(going highway speed), but it's livable. The worst on long downhill grades, but just a touch of throttle makes it go away. Just kinda a rattlin' clank, not a constant whine.
  21. Jim.........those pics just bring a tear to my eye........... Dag gum that sure is purdy!
  22. Well, I'm late to the party........as usual. Only got a plate of homemade cookies from the the g/f. Anything else isn't in the budget(I can dream pretty big though). Had a nice time seeing family.
  23. Simply outstanding work. Glad to see you finally got to reap the benefit of working so diligent for the last 6 yrs! Video......we need VIDEO!!!
  24. Congrats. Glad to see everyone is doing well.
  25. Improper lane use? Huh...... Should be Failure to control? Something along those lines? Littering too? Destruction of private property.......the list could go on.........
