  2. Id like to convert mine to dry element instead of oil bath. My 237 sucks oil enough to make the intake tube oily and seeps some at the rubber couplers. Watts used to offer a replacement dry filter housing but it got too pricey. Been wanting to find a small SS vortex and get it mounted. Waiting to find the right size, cheap!
  3. My original big top hat had a big V notched in it from the passenger wing window hitting it when you opened the door. I installed the chrome riser to get it up out of the way.

  5. Ya, likely not. The g/f is careful and cautious, but when she tries to jerk herself up into the cab I don't want to see a big chunk of paint missing in the middle of the door!
  6. I had to put felt bumpers on the air cleaner brackets as to not gouge up my brand new doors I just out on. The door skin would just touch the brackets if you push the door wide open.
  7. I have the big air cleaner. It's definitely a bit tighter to get it. Might have to get the tape measure out?
  8. They were built by Orville cab in Orville Ohio if I recall. They cut and widened a stock B cab. Very noticeable increase in cab space, as the doors are skewed outwards at an angle to blend with the wider sleeper area. Though the doors don't open any wider then original, so actually less room to get in. Kinda like the passenger side of a B. Definitely tighter because of the air cleaner.

  11. How late was the service. With Mark being there....and his trouble with traffic jams.....I might have had time to drive 9 hours to get there Saturday??? Lol!!! You guys look great. Congrats.
  12. Omg....Wow! Glad you pulled through that. Any time I install a death wheel I ALWAYS point it away from anything and hit the power. Give it the chance to explode in a known safe direction. Even after I use one i still try to play it safe when hitting the power. Everyone always removes the guard....well because it's always in the way. I have seen blades go into legs, but this is a first for an arm(this bad). Buddy nipped his thumb joint with a grinder wheel. Didn't think much about it. A day later it was still hurting. Few days later it was still bad. Here it got infected. Ended up in the hospital for 3 days and had surgery to clean it out. Took months to heal and had to get shots to keep it healthy. Darn near lost it. You never know. I put my left thumb joint into a bandsaw blade many years ago. Some masking tape and I was good to go. Lol. Took years for me to be able to bend it. Joint looks bad now compared to right hand.
  13. I remember back 22 yrs when I put historical tags on my B. Lady behind the counter stated..."You better not be using this for hauling freight". Um, ya. okay Mable.
  14. Trolley valve is the hand brake on the column. It manually operates only the trailer brakes.
  15. My brake light switch is right under back of cab on left frame rail, I'm guessing in the service line going to the rear brakes? Im also guessing it tees off to the TP valve.
  16. The brake light switch needs to be moved before the TP valve, not after. That is the problem. Was it in that location when you bought the truck? It just needs move upstream towards the brake pedal, in a location that is not affected by anything else.
  17. I did mine about 10 yrs ago. FA517 axle. I assume I got ends from you. I'll look in my files. I think tube was female and rod ends were male thd.
  18. 9.10 ratio. Ya, stump puller gears. I dont think they made much steeper then that? Maybe 9.50? I remember one of the High Point Bs have 9.xx gears in it. Seems it was 4.00 up to 9.xx were the choices if I recall.
  19. Agree, she was just confirming my story. I too like the old stuff. Mines nothing too fancy. 427 FE, Liberty Equalizer 5 spd. 10.2s @ 128mph. Been running it since 1995.
  20. Even my Ohio historical registration shows a GVW and the creeper cop asked to see it 20 yrs ago when the one time I was red lighted and went in. I too thought it was removed when I changed the license over. She also asked who owned everything. I told her it was all mine. I also showed my insurance and class A license. She questioned the car in the trailer and politely asked to see it. I graciously opened the door and she said "nice, thanks". On my way I went. Nothing was asked about compensation or the like even though the car is lettered and clearly a drag car. Never got pulled around on that scale again in the 20 yrs I've gone by it. But it was also marked "commercial trucks only" and I stopped going through.
  21. My .02. Not for Hire is no get of jail free card. Though I do have it on my trailer. I put "Historical Vehicle, Non Commercial" on my bunk. Don't tell them its a drag car(even though it's plastered all over the trailer)! Lol. I only stop at scales that say All Trucks. Most Ohio scales have changed to "commercial trucks" and I roll on by. Adjoining states vary and I follow the signs. Been 22 yrs with no real issues. I go by the thought of the truck is presentable and doesn't look like a scrap heap so I hope that it gets me a pass if comes the day. Few times I've gotten the long wait for a green light but I figure it's just johnny law admiring it.
  22. I kinda agree with 67R. I think trucks were a bit more spendy then we may think for the time. Big truck, big engine, lots of options, I'll put it at $58k.
  23. I still run about 70# in mine all around. The fronts just squat a touch from engine weight. You won't gain much ride quality until you get some frame length. That 5ft I put on mine made a World of difference. When it was 150", it was just too short and bucked over every crack in the road.
  24. Its all about "patina". 25 yrs ago it was just a "rusty pos" and wasn't worth anything. We live in strange times for sure.
