  2. don't worry.............ALL us Cantonians are A-holes............... Sad part is ALOT of shipper/receivers are like that. Back when I used to drive for our shop and get to some places it was ALL attitude when you rolled in the door. Like "why are you bothering me?". We play the opposite here, as it don't matter if I'm on lunch or whatever, I stop and take care of the driver. No sense in making it difficult. Alot of guys really thank us for going beyond the call. Used to go to Lindberg Heat Treat in Solon and I HATED that stop. "Doug" hated life and he made sure you were miserable when you were around him too. Been alot of years since been up there, and GLAD of it. That old red B model, is it sitting up in a truck lot on the east side of 77? I've seen it numerous times running down that way. Never be able to get in to see it, as I always get thru after the place is closed.

  4. LOL!!! That's my favorite line when I'm out and a waitress or such makes a comment that "It's HOT in here". I just tell them........"that's okay, I'm leaving soon"
  5. Welcome to the site. Never heard of a sliding window for B model. It's not very big, so I'm curious to hear if someone actually has one.

  8. I used to run straight 50w in my '70 F100 back in the mid 80's. YA......good thick oil to protect things LOL!!!! Took a good battery to get it to turn over in the winter(but always started) LOL!!! Had LOTS of oil pressure too! I run 20w50 in all my hot rods now, but they don't see the cold. The harder part was getting the tranny to spin cause I had 85w-140 grease in it. Let the clutch out in neutral and the truck would stall. Took a few minutes, riding the clutch out slow and it would start to spin the gears. Ahhh, the good ol days. Yes, the multi grades were suppose to be the best of both worlds. Easy starting, with protection of thicker oil. I used to use PowerService in my Ford powerstroke diesel in the winter to keep it from gelling. Heard about it thru the internet(as never knew about it before). Truck driving friend mentioned something like HDDP or something like that that he used to run. PowerService comes in grey bottle, most any parts store should have it in the fuel additive aisle. I've run Lucas also, even used some in tranny back when I bought truck. Tried to thicken the old grease and get it to not knock so back when hot at idle. I just changed the grease last winter after pulling rear cover off tranny and it actually is really quiet now, but I also took a shim out of the bearing to tighten up the preload a bit. After 50 yrs, I guess it might have been a touch loose? Yes, got all the parts to put car back together, tranny still in pieces(almost ready to put back together), heads are freshened up and ready to go on, clutch got a go-thru too. Just need to get car home to put back in. Right now have buddys race car in garage as we spent the winter trying to put it together. I run 20w50 Valvoline Vr1 in race car with 85w-140 in tranny.
  9. Now that's FUNNY...........I don't care WHO ya are. Weather been pretty decent since end of last week. Not lasting long, so got the moticicle out for a ride Sunday and drove the hot rod to work today. All is not bad..........yet.

  11. I throw PowerService in mine about once a year to just give it the once over. With the LSD and such I wonder how the old girl does. Can't hurt to add something. I usually get fuel at one place, unless I'm far from home(not often anymore).
  12. Not sure of cost, but I wonder how comparable it is to a full side kit/tarp? Throw in all the time savings and easier job I bet it comes out CHEAP!

  14. Ok, the cab portion looked "purchased", as getting the compound curve would be a bear. Or is it two pieces? The SS will stay nicer looking(since it's exposed), so the lower brackets could be aluminum as they are under the visor. Dang.......sure looks purdy! Always loved a freshly painted engine.............too bad they never again look that good(at least mine don't). I bet it will really put some guys reeling trying to decide WHAT it is once it's in the truck. I might have just painted it Mack gold or the grey color that was on the old 673's. That would really hide the fact it's a binder.
  15. Ya, strange to think times going by so fast that the kids are having kids. Short story: Last summer, was having a rootbeer down at Woodies. This lady walked over to my pickup and I recognized her. She worked at Maxi's in North canton back in the day(all the hotties worked there). Hadn't seen her in 15+ yrs? She recognized my pickup(ya, same one for 21 yrs now) and came to say hi. We talked of not seeing each other in years and then she introduced her GRANDKIDS! Doh!!! Her daughter was young last time I saw her, now her daughter has kids! I asked if that means we're OLD? This girl has aged VERY graceful to say the least.

  19. Like Mike said.........it's worth what you are willing to pay. Still a gas motor? Likely geared pretty steep, so will be slow moving.
  20. Ya, Baker is just an empty lot now. Logan is using alot more conestogas, as their lot is next to my buddy's machine shop. I can imagine the time savings, and insurance claims from falls will drop.
  21. Oops. Ya got me. I've seen the "true curtainside" too, but wasn't thinking of them.
  22. Alot of the local steel hauling companies are converting over to curtains. Don't have to worry about a guy falling off a load while throwing tarps. Doesn't take but a minute to slide it forward/back and lock it down. No bows/side kits to mess with either. I'm sure there are downsides, like wear/tear, but think it's a pretty good set up from what I've seen. Had a few deliver here at work and got to see it first hand. Usually the rookies get tarps, the vets get curtains.

  25. I'd love to make the Gasser show, maybe this year? Since you're still taking things apart........I bet it really looks intimidating. I know how that goes! Awesome job on the visor and the mounts. The roof pieces look premade from something else(stainless steel?)? The adjustable part looks like aluminum and likely you made? You did the exact thing I've had floating in my head for years now. I wondered about supporting the visor in the middle, but with the roof brackets that is eliminated. Does the visor screw directly into the cab roof on the ends? Or is there a bracket under there?
