  1. Sounds like a dealer to me.......................... Didn't you sign an estimate before work started? It should be within a percentage or so or you don't pay.
  2. Mines been outside since dirt was made...........LOL!! Never covered, and probably will be that way for awhile. I have inside summer storage(thanks to the township), but come winter it will be sitting outside(somewhere, not home) as I need the indoor parking for my hot rods. They rank a bit above the ol B right now(More money invested in them). I'd love to have one more stall.................(don't we all wish)
  3. I have a friend who I was going to let drive the ol girl. He got in the seat and realized even with it cranked all the way down on the bottom stops...........his belly was still wedged tight on the wheel....LOL!!! Guess he loses out...LMAO!!! Sometimes I just lift my left leg up and hold the wheel too, like I do in my pickup. Since I don't use the clutch unless the gears are wound too tight to let go without bumping it. As long as the gears DON'T clunk when shifting...it does not make a matter if you use the clutch or not. My truck is geared for 65 mph, so I'm in the same basic game with my triplex. Heck 5/lo is only at just over 35 mph!
  4. Fred, if you get both in neutral...just slow down a bit til you can slip main back into a gear. Then rev motor a tad and bump compound back into a gear. I used to get caught when I first bought truck. Getting into 5th lo going too slow would leave me coasting. I could coast til getting main back into 4th, then bump throttle and drop compound back into OVER(or what I could find). Then proceed. It only takes a few times to fig'r it out and been a few years since I had that problem. Been practicing the two hand routine now. Pretty good at it...but ain't brag'n. The hard part around here is finding a road SMOOTH enough to actually feel comfortable letting go of wheel and sticking arm thru!! Withoug getting arm broke at elbow from wheel coming around from hitting chuckhole!!! OUCH!! Funny thing....when somone posted my drivin' video on Hank's site, someone over there told me that you DON'T use the compound like I did(like Mike stated). That he was an "expert" and I should learn to do it right....
  5. Well Mike.......I'm in the same boat as most others have mentioned. What do you really want? Both, right?? LOL!! In the end what will make you happier? The sentimental value of the B, or the monetary value of the LT? It's an anwser only YOU can make. I too have a few "extra" vehicle around and have pondered the though of selling/trading off something for another. Never quite had to do it yet...but someday it will happen and I'm not really sure how it will work. Good luck with the decision
  6. I'm thinkin it would be pretty cool to have it in all stainless? Something you could polish up? The paint part is ok, but shiny is good too. I guess I could paint it silver?
  7. oldmacksrus.com has all the info on motors/trannys/etc. Look on the drivers side of tranny and you'll find the number telling you what it is....TRQ-XXXX (the last digits telling if single/double O/D ) With that road speed I would bet you have 5+ something gears or worse! One question? What is a '79 doing with a 673/quad box in it?? Seems pretty new for that combo.
  8. Well, I just went thru this. I have a 10ft ceiling and I have 7ft pipes on mine(that is basically from below the bracket on frame). It just clears...by a hair or two. I have 22.5" rubber on mine. That will make a difference. I used to have the short pipe/muffer like shown, but went with straight tall pipes to get rid of soot on side of my trailer.
  9. Great shots! I see Don Snyder had Mr. Nasty there. If you EVER want to see a collection of awesome cars/trucks then make a trip to New springfield, Ohio. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/index.php Give them a shout and stop and see their place. Model A stuff is there bread/butter, but Don's collection of vehicles is simply amazing! If you like A/FX drag cars, Don has a very extensive collection of very nice stuff(Like the FIRST and LAST '64 T-bolt's). Super nice people, been there a few times. They will set up "private" showings of his collection. It's not really open to the public.
  10. OUCH!!! Them gassers were killers!!!! My B gets around 9-10 bobtailing and 8 or so with trailer. That is very liveable for me....especially for a 45 yr old truck.
  11. I put 6 gal in my 673 and with the homemade dip stick I assume it's alright. I put a couple gals in filter, then I put 3 in pan. I checked stick and it was a full mark. I then put rest in pan. This then assumes that 3 filter/3 pan is full. It usually drains some of filter back and reads overfull when it sits all week. I think this is the reason for the 10-15 sec wait for pressure when I first start it. If I check it shortly after shutdown, it reads full on stick.
  12. Stan might be on the road?? He's been long haulin' alot lately delivering cars to places afar.
  13. Go back to the General Discussion page. Dale hamilton has a wiring diagram for sale(cheap). Larry
  14. Quaker city raceway in Salem, Ohio. I took it over three years. I didn't ever see it come up on the schedule so I think it finally died out here. The first so I went in '00 was awesome!!! The truck count went down every year after. The last two years I made it to the final three trucks though!! I lost all my pictures in my computer when I "formatted C" last week. I have hard prints that I need to rescan and put back up. Just need to find the time.
  15. Pretty cool. The vid worked for me. Don't let the tree huggers see it though!!!!
  16. Heard it's a great show to attend! Maybe someday I'll get over there.
  17. If it's cast iron, then it CAN be welded. I can't see why it could not be fixed, and not for hordes of money either. If it's not useable...then I'd like to take a look at it and maybe see if I can do something with it. If Barry comes thru...that's great!
  18. Ok, fill us in.............What does your pump need?? Impellar? Shafts, welding?
  19. Well, I drag race my '64 Galaxie wagon. I have two street hot rods: 69 F100 and another '64 Galaxie 2dr. I enjoy R/C stuff, mostly 4 whl variety, since my plane only lasted about 5 minutes!!!! (guess I should have taken some lessons). I have one of those King haulers(r/c semi with box trailer-pretty cool and realistic). My webpage is: http://hometown.aol.com/larry33k/BATTLESTAR1.html BTW Barry, the company I'm with had a taurus wagon way back then. It was a 5 spd to boot!! I made a few road trips in it(even hit a turkey on a back road once) It's neat to see stuff like that, especially when someone has taken great care of it. Larry
  20. My local bearing place will usually have any seal I need. Given the 3 dimensions...it should be relatively easy to track down?
  21. Lookin good so far Trent. Looks like you got the fenders hung on okay.
  22. Are you talking about he valve on the dash that controls wipers?? I pulled mine off, took rear plate off, installed new o-ring and put back together. Been a couple years and still holding pretty well. Watch how you remove hoses, mark them or wipers will not work correctly. Yup, been there too. There are a couple variations of control valves so they are not all the same. Yup, been there too.
  23. I know a "fishhook" on another diesel site. He's a driver, so I was think'n maybe it was same guy? He's in SW OHio.
