  1. Well, I got to play this weekend. Went to TNT Friday and spent the night and ran Saturdays program. Car ran well, not quite the numbers I was hoping but there is some carb tuning needed. It is running a bit rich, so once I lean it down it should pick up some. It is going .1 quicker in 1\8 mile, but not picking up in the 1\4. But it is not running rich until the 1\8 mark....thus the fall off. Did go three rounds on Sat. Was having troubles finding the tree(cutting a good light) with being my first time out in 8 months. Did go .002 second round so I know I can do it!! In all had a great time. Got absolutely roasted from the blinding sun. It was brutally bright out. No complaints though. Track photographer should have pics posted soon.
  2. Loaded and ready. Ugh, what a bunch of work...washing, cleaning, swapping vehicles, getting B out to move trailer. I'm whipped.
  3. Well, i brought it home Friday afternoon, got an early start today and it's in the car and running by noon! Got some tidying up to do, wash the car and get it loaded up tomorrow? Hope to tnt it next Friday to see what it will do and be ready for the race on the 27th.
  4. Car is 3820 by itself. When "we" determined I had to put a big roller stick in it I knew my vintage Dove rockers would not survive. TD was the only real option, but heard it would be 3-4 weeks. Ugh. They showed up in 10 days from the day I called!!! Sweet. Those old Dove parts lasted 20 carefree years on my old flat tappet cam. Just need to work on getting this new found power to the ground.
  5. We have a convoy cruise next weekend to offset the loss of our show. We are picking up food donations for Ashland food bank and returning to the fairgrounds to drop them off. Hope for sunny weather? We have had spectacular weather the last few weekends. That tip turbine makes me jealous!!
  6. I finally dynoed my new engine last weekend. Really snowballed to more then I really wanted to put onto it. 496 FE, trick flow heads, roller cam, TD rockers, tunnel wedge 2x4 intake with 2 600 holleys. Made 665 hp at 6600, 630 ft lb at 4000 rpm. Car went 10.69@125 last year, it should see 10.4's? Hope to install it this weekend. First stick race is june 27. Really wanting to get behind the wheel again!
  7. Not sure what that 3 cable thing is? A picture would help. Im guessing a later model truck? Sounds like it was losing battery power, thus shutting down. Must have lost alternator line too due to that bad connection.
  8. A one piece nose would make it impossible for me to work on my truck in the garage since the stall is only as long as the truck!! Its a PITA as is, but at least I can work on it. Those Clariben hoods with quad lights are not my cup of tea. That stock looking hood is nice.
  9. That 41 Willy's I helped build a few years back has the interior custom built by an amish guy. Crazy nice and way cheaper then any local upholstery shops. He had a 2-3 year waiting list.
  10. Very nice. You guys do great work.
  11. I printed out the spec sheets from here many years ago. It lists the transmission code and gearing.
  12. Click on link(2001 Mack) to see details. $32k, E7 powered.
  13. Not the same Amish i saw riding around in a pontoon boat monday afternoon.
  14. The Fageol is way cool. Love to make a car hauler out of it. That would be very different showing up at the track. Leave it painted in original scheme. Buying a Mig 21 just to have? That is the ultimate in yard art. You likely won't have a neighbor with one? Lol!
  15. Race cars...ugh. I dont spent much on mine typically. Though last year it needed a new block after 20 years. Then my 24 yr old alum heads started puking water over winter. Start over and just duplicated what I spent last year on short block to replace top half. Groan. Should be good til I retire racing? This is my 25th straight season now. None of my stuff is pristine. Again, too much work and anymore I HATE work!!
  16. Fantastic!!! Wow. We're all kinda sick when it comes to hobbies like this. We all spend our own various amounts of money on things that will never be worth anything close to the total spent. We do it for the love and the personal satisfaction. Many dream of a truck like yours, but like me, I like to use mine too much and that kind of restoration would be a moot point because I could never keep it at that level. I have friend with show cars and even drag cars that would meet that kind of level. I laugh about having to wash my hands before working on them.
  17. Local fellow in my truck club has similar coe. He owned a sod business and used it for decades. Still looks like new, though he and the truck are retired and only taken to shows now.
  18. Glad I bought mine 15 yrs ago...when they were still "reasonably priced"......
  19. They are shutting down ER's and hospital wings due to no patients. I'm thinking they are too afraid to go because of Covid. Are more dying at home? No information there. Or is it all the "Oh, I have a paper cut and need to go to the ER" people not going and that is the reason for no one being there? I'm sure there is a percentage of people that have no health care that used to go to the ER as their only option to get medication for a cough or headache.
  20. Was gunno say i don't recall the pinstripe on Stans super. I got a couple minutes behind the wheel a few years ago. Man.... I want a V8!!
  21. Very, very cool story!! Now he has some bragging rights on his buddies that don't have a license yet either!
  22. Welcome to the forums. I'm a drag racer myself.
  23. Jim was his name and I did meet up a couple times in Michigan at a race we both attended. Truck as nice in person as pictures show. He did only run it a few years though. Have not seen him in some time now.
  24. When it stops running, it's broke. No need for the driver to know anything else LOL!! Nice Bronco. A buddy bought a local one that was parked for decades. Nice, solid unit, red/white top, automatic. Likely sit in his garage for another 20 yrs before he actually does anything with it. I'd drive the wheels off it all summer.
  25. Connex and Stryker are "black box" export radios. No real limitations on power so they do much more then the legal 4 watts in the USA. Thus many guys like them. I have three Unidens and a President Madison base. TP tools is like 45 minutes easy of me. Been by it, but not in it. We do buy stuff for work through them for blast cabinets. We have an Eastwood store about an hour north. Never been there, but salesman at work did go up and buy a plasma cutter last year. Sure seems like I'm in the right part of the world when it comes to stores. The McMaster Carr is 45 minutes north also. I get same day service for them if you get the order in soon enough in the morning. Jegs is 2 hrs south, but don't buy much there. I do shop around and will use Amazon if need be. I do try to use local small shops if I can.
