  1. Neway air ride?
  2. The few R models I've seen with Detroit's, have had the Farr air cleaner on them. Looks like a neat piece Mike. Wanna call Adelmans and see what they want for the two Superliners I posted?
  3. Yup, when I had my original 673 pump rebuilt they told me that was included.
  4. Ya, back when power was low, gearing was slow. What transmission? If it is single OD, then 55 is likely about it. My B had 4.62's and would go 65 mph flat out. A double over would get you closer to 65 mph.
  5. So, removing the governor line from the compressor does not make it build air? Has the coupler broken and the pump not turning? Remove the intake line, spin motor with starter and see if you feel any suction.
  6. I was at Adelmans the other day, dropping off fliers for our upcoming truck show. I was surprised to see Greg Ryder's red A model Mack sitting in the front line. I saw it for sale on craigslist recently. Seems Carl Adelman bought it and has thoughts of tinkering with it. The previous owner of my B model works at the used truck lot after selling off the towing company. Rob will remember Greg from one of his trips over this way. I went to middle school with Greg, lost track over the decades and met up after he joined up here some years ago. He has since moved a couple times and I lost track of him.
  7. The other day I made a stop at Adelmans truck yard. I had to drop off some fliers for our upcoming truck show in Ashland. The past owner of my B model works at the used truck lot after selling off the towing company. He was out in the lot tagging some new trailers and I caught a glimpse of these well worn Superliners sitting in the back. The yellow one didn't look too hateful overall. The red one had a bunk at some time and a piece of lexan is glued in the hole. I didn't ask about them, as I have no use or reason. But if someone else is looking for a chassis give Ron a call. Typically they don't haggle on pricing. Ron's told me that before, that's why he doesn't mind "selling" there. You either buy it or not. They are not listing on their website, as they are not on the front row. http://www.adelmans.com/adelmans-truck-sales
  8. Especially at Gerharts. After you load, you have to make that 180* cut back to go down the hill.
  9. Can you hook up the unloader to shop air. While compressor is running, apply air to see if it quits pumping. If it doesn't, then the valve in the head is hanging up?
  10. Ya, that was a bit before I drove it. I'm thinking about 2016? It could have been Dave himself?? We had similar builds/grey hair/beard.
  11. That almost looks like me running it? It sounds more like a 673, then the 237? I wonder what the year is on that video? I know it wasn't that busy with people when I ran it. Dave typically ran the bucket, someone would drive the truck and his wife Nancy would run the dozer pushing the dirt over the hill for Dave to scoop up. He was not afraid to fill the bed up!! No DOT to worry about LOL!! The only downfall was the lack of power steering. After a couple hours, my hands were getting a bit red(due to lack of gloves). I told him that is why I liked my air assist.
  12. Absolutely!! Though I've watched Dave take some hail mary runs to get it loaded on his trailer!!! But, it was his.
  13. Do you have turbo? Oil cooler? If so, then any 237 filter arrangement should bolt on. If you don't have turbo and/or oil cooler, then it will be tougher to find a spin on set up for it. I was lucky to get mine years back, as mine didn't have turbo/cooler. I pulled my valves apart, polished all the seats and it worked better for like a day. Then back to draining.
  14. When I took that tour of the Age of steam roundhouse, they spoke of how they would buy engines from people that bought them, got in too deep and realized they would never have enough money to finish it.
  15. Cubic money! 375k, then another 500k to move it, then 10 mil to restore, then.......endless costs to maintain.
  16. It rained Friday evening about 5. Just as I got to the track. Just enough to make a muddy mess. Saturday was 90 and sun.
  17. I've driven that dump at Gerharts.. It runs and drives like new. Dave said he would get hassled for hauling dirt in it! He told me that "not like I'm throwing rocks at it!". Though he did put a bucket of dirt in the window on me!!! Nothing some water didn't clean up. The cab is near perfect rust free piece. Dave said it was a site truck that saw no salt. The quad box is rebuilt and tight as new. I was used to my sloppy, noisy triplex. Had some guys show up at Edgewater on Saturday and tell me I needed to drop my trailer and run over to Jerry's. I didn't realize it was the same weekend as my race down there.
  18. Mine was the same forever. Tried bleeding it, polished the check valves. Nothing made it better. Such is life. Only got better when I put spin on filters.
  19. Most into the 70's, most of the GM's had that emblem embossed into the door sill plate. Not a separate tag.
  20. Was the previous owner named Fisher?? Back in late 80's, when I was still truck driver at work, I made quite a few trips to Fisher Guide in Indiana.
  21. Wow.........I use a WHOLE 55 gals of racing gas PER summer............LOL!!!
  22. I've tried a few different things, even some Lucas. It just has loose bearing kinda noise. Years back, when I converted to electronic speedo and had the rear tailhousing off, I pulled a shim from the cover to tighten that rear bearing up. Seem to help more then anything. Under load, it's okay. Just coasting it rattles and clanks along. You can feel the noise in the back box up through the compound shifter. I rebuilt the handles over the winter which helped the shift pattern overall. But the compound handle still buzzes going down the highway. I typically keep my hand on my leg with my finger pushing on the handle to quiet it down.
  23. I've put regular 75w90 stuff in my truck.
  24. We had an old school rootbeer stand locally that had either Lionel or LGB track hanging around the perimeter of the center walkway. Sadly the owner passed, the property sold and it's now a Dollar General? Something like that. Sure do miss going there.
  25. Look for the flat on the drivers side of the differential and see if it is stamped?
