  1. Hmmm, the signature pictures should always be available? The truck still runs the original Triplex. I have a 4spd Spicer Aux behind that. I stretched the truck about 5 yrs ago and put a 42" bunk on it. Instead of a carrier bearing, I got a 6041 box off a friend. Gives me a 5x3x4 with 4.10 gears. She'll run 85 flat out. Try this: Back in 2001 when I bought it: My rig:
  2. My picture below.....1959 B61. I've done a ton of work over 17 yrs.
  3. Ya, me neither. It's got to get my race car to everywhere I need to go. Thus, never enough power!!!!! LOL!! Don't know what it takes to bump a RB pump? The AB is just 6 screws in the lid and one nut. I played with the original NA 673 that was in my truck. It ran like a scalded dog after I spun the nut a few turns. Mileage suffered horribly!! I then ran it back down. It was not quite so snappy, but it's only 180 hp to begin with. Can't say I saw any major improvement when I bumped the 237. Just a tad bit more heat, thus I figure it must be helping some. I think I turned it 2 flats on the nut. Not sure what needs to be done to make your 285 a 300? or 300+. Just money? LOL!
  4. I haven't messed mine up too bad. Still gets 9 mpg in the hills of PA with the cruise set at 65 mph.
  5. Boost increases with HP rating. I had the turbo rebuilt on mine a few years ago. I thought I had issues, but it was not actually the turbo. For the money I just had them go through it since the motor had sat for a long time and I had little knowledge of the history. I had thoughts of making it bigger, but left well enough alone. Wishing I had changed it now. I'd like to see 20# and what difference it would make. I bumped the fuel up a few notches as it wouldn't even get to 900*. Now it gets to about 1000*. Needs more cool air! (ugh, that's the hot rodder in me. I need to leave it alone)
  6. Just an FYI, I put jakes on my 237. Waste of money? Likely for all I do with it. BUT...I'm pleasantly surprised on how well it actually works. For even my little 30K lb truck, it does hold it well on hills. I was over in PA the other weekend and they have this brutal hill over by Milroy. It held my speed without having to touch the brakes. I'm sure if you have 80K lbs it isn't so great. Better then nothing I suppose. Major parts are hard to come by and pretty costly too. I needed one lash cap(for the early large stem valve). NLA from Mack, I posted on FB and a guy send me one for free. Ever so grateful for FB at times like that. Basic rebuild kits aren't bad, but if you need big pieces, Ouch. It was a simple bolt on. The whole problem with Mack is the small cubic inch and lower compression then a Cat/Cummins. That takes away from the effectiveness of a Jake. Mine shows 5# of boost on the gauge while working. The lil 237 only makes 15+ lbs under load.
  7. I think that seller got some pictures mixed up with the one sitting on the hillside? I know guys pay $1000-1500 just to get a pickup moved from West to East. Not sure what a big truck is?
  8. They are having a shin dig July 5-6 called "Steam to Victory". I hope to make it down again. The first visit/tour wasn't enough. It's about an hour south of me. http://www.ageofsteamroundhouse.com/
  9. Paul, once you get the hang of it, it works pretty easy. Now you don't have to worry about pictures being too big to download here. Of course, if something happens to Postimage you loose the pictures. So make sure you keep them saved on your computer.
  10. Good to hear. LED lights sure can put a damper on things!
  11. I just use Postimage.org. Save my pictures there that I want to post here. Then just copy/paste the link from Postimage and put it in your post. Really simple, free, and you don't have to worry about the size of the picture.
  12. Yup, been following it along since the beginning. So cool. I can't imagine the cubic money that has been spent on this!!! All the new castings, all the machine work, man hours. Ugh.
  13. I watched a Youtube video of a place out west with a bunch of trucks. Looks just like this place. The place was just littered with old sun baked trucks of every description.
  14. Crazy what they can design/build today. I enjoy watching this guy: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0_ShdJ9qqWyABFZeSI6_dA He runs a 180 ton Todano. Lots of good, easy to understand information.

    HI

Welcome to the forums. Few guys here with Midliner backround. Should be able to help you out.
  16. ^^This. The radiator drain will only get the radiator for the most part since the water pump is so high up in the front. To get the block, look for the drains. For sure passenger side, I think there is one on the drivers side also? Maybe, have to check.
  17. Friend has one of those Broncos, not sure the year. Very nice garage find. V8, automatic, red, white top. Patina'd, but not rotted. Likely never see the road at the rate he gets things done. He is just freshening things up for dependability, not restoring. He wanted to replace brake lines. He contacted some brake line company and they made him SS lines for allowing them to use his nice samples for manufacturing replacements.
  18. I have a couple old B tanks with similar caps. Be glad to pass them along to you if needed. Let me know. I have new Alumitanks and have no need for the tanks or caps.
  19. Don, I bought my "hill light" from Dcaptain. Nice guy to deal with. He was actually coming down my way, we met at local gas station and made the deal.
  20. It's kinda funny how most ALL the news have hot women anchors. Remember when it was just guys like Walter Kronkite and Dan Rather? I guess if I turn the volume off, I could stand to watch the national news?
  21. 83 Mack Cruiseliner, 10 speed, 370 rears, 1300 miles since motor has been rebuilt, have all parts and liners to interior, 350 Cummins, 6000 or will trade for a good four wheel drive older model pick up 1983 mack Cruiseliner Ruther Glen, VA · over a week ago · $6,000
  22. Not hateful looking or priced. Look at the flag R model next to it?? Here is listing for ones not on FB. Mack 300 motor, 13 speed Eaton transmission overdrive, Mack rears with Mack suspension, single steel frame, full screw on rears, 2 line wet line, manual steering, all glass good, tube type tires (need replaced), VIN # 786LST28575, Western brown interior, air ride drive seat low back, fixed passenger seat low back, sleeper cab over last ran in 2017. Needs TLC Less
  23. My B61 were down. I contemplating flipping them up when I redid the doors this winter. But after assessing the situation, I left them down.
  24. I spent plenty of time just looking under the hood to come up with everything to make sure it would work before buying the kit. I removed the fuel filter off the engine and re purposed the two bolts to hold the bracket. This is what they did on an R model engine. The biggest difference is the B model is such a short hood there is no extra room for another pulley behind the water pump pulley. You can't use the rear groove because of the accy drive on the diesel sticks out, so I used the front groove. It just clears everything. Here you can see the original two bolt bracket from the fuel filter. I cut the band section off and welded the plate to it. The lower tabs run gussets down to the accy drive to support everything. I then welded the original bands to another bracket and mounted the filter on the front frame rail, under the outer hood panel. I hung the evaporator under the dash using my own brackets to clear my CB radio. The condenser is hung under the bunk horizontally with a fan on it. It makes instant cold air this way. I ran a hot wire from the a/c power switch to the fan relay so it turns on as soon as I turn the system on. It's suppose to work off the trinary switch, but I want it running full time to keep the condenser as cool as possible since being where it is gets no real air flow, especially sitting still. I got the kit from Retro Air in Texas. They don't offer the same one anymore, but you can find it on Ebay also. I paid $600 for all. Comes with Sanden pump and all hoses. I needed longer hoses to reach behind the bunk, but I bought some from Retro air. It uses very good Parker a/c line. It's been running for 5? yrs now without issue. It's a 14K btu unit and will freeze you out even on a drafty old B model. It only needs to be set on low to be more then comfortable on a warm day in Ohio.
