I found my post from working on my cylinder. Though I didn't post the part number for the cup seal. I found one without the hole, but that was easy enough to punch out.

So it's been a few years, a buddy of mine had told me of a guy that his father ran old B models and were parked on some property around the area. That was all I heard, til about a week ago. Buddy sent me a text telling me he gave my number to the fellow to contact about the trucks. I got a call and we talked. He sent me a few pictures. Sad state of affairs. I asked if I could go look even though I figured there was not much worth anything. We met yesterday after work and he took me to the property. It was not far from work. After going down a dirt path, around some curves we came to a driveway that was blocked off with a mound of dirt. We parked and got out. He then reached in the back of his car and got a machete and a shotgun. I was not feeling comfortable at this point, but we continued on. We had talked on the way to the property and he was actually a friend of a good friend of mine. The property is about 5 acres. He father had basically just left it back in the late 80's and moved south. He just passed away and his mother wants the property sold. This fellow is thinking of buying the property but it will be quite the clean up. Fully covered in brier bushes and over growth. The house and garages are just rotten shells, though this was where he had grown up as a child. That area is kind of getting "depressed" and thus the shotgun. The trucks, mostly B models, though one 60's SD Ford dump and what at one time was a White 3000(literally nothing left, trees had actually grown through the cab and ripped it to pieces). We weaseled our way through the prickers and brush and poked around. I told him there was nothing much worth anything and what it would cost to even get near it to remove it was going to be more money then the scrap value of the trucks. It was like a time capsule though. Like someone literally just quit working on stuff one day and there it was 30 yrs later. I didn't take any close up shots while I was there, these couple pictures were what he send me on the initial conversation. It was sad to see all this stuff just rot back to the ground. I think it would be fun to get them pulled out "IF" I knew someone with a big enough dozer to even get access to them. The paved driveway is completely covered over, though you can see patches through the dirt. Though there is not a piece of sheetmetal that isn't junk and nothing but open motors that are surely stuck and worthless.

Is it like the old air shutter cylinder on my B? It basically has a rubber cup seal that is held onto a rod with a small nut/washer. I was able to find a matching new cup seal and rebuild mine. Works great, no leaks.

Ditto. I don't follow this crap, but was amazed at the postings I saw yesterday online. I actually watched some news this morning and caught the Chicago mayor speaking his mind to George Stephenopolous. The mayor was not happy with what happened and was very cautious with his wording about what happened. Once again, someone is playing games, getting the media to "look over here" and not pay attention to anything else(like the whole Trump/Russia thing that just blew up in their faces). I digress.

I have a mill, just no real room for a lathe at home. Though I have a 36000 sq ft shop I work at with all that stuff!! Just not always convenient to get on a machine. -

Here are the part numbers: 25052332 25105113 $22/each piece. So get ready to spend $190 for all four sets. These were the better looking pieces I pulled. Most were just pieces/parts. I only had to fight to get one of the larger pieces out of the drivers side. It was rusted and stuck. I couldn't work from the top and the clutch linkage is in the way from the bottom. Ugh. Persistence paid off, it finally broke loose. New bolts and nylok nuts and I got the floor panel put back in. We're ready to take it for a test spin when the weather breaks. -
On the drivers side of the carrier, there is a flat machined with the part number and ratio. The slower the ratio, the less desirable.

Was at local dealer this morning to get O rings for the oil filter housing. "Jeff" at the parts counter is old school and pretty knowledgeable. He knows me from coming in. He looked up the old part numbers, crossed it to new numbers and is ordering mounts for "stock". Seems Vulva has a ton of them. They must be used for other things today? Should be in first of next week, we'll see if they are correct. This will hopefully alleviate me from having to manufacture them. -
Good point, didn't think about picture issue. That is why I use Postimage. Don't have to worry about running out of room here.

Looks to be a "flipper". Buy and try to sell at large profit. I watched this transpire just a few weeks ago with a friend. He sold at local car auction a very nice clone '69 Boss 302. He got $30K, which he was happy with. I see it posted on FB two days later. A fellow I'm friends with(don't know personally) has it for $42K!!! Don't know if he will sell it at that price? I'm sure he'll make a few bucks. Even $1K is a nice profit for not much "work".

Well, the old adage of fix it right once..............or do it over a few times! When I first put the 237 together I rebuilt the oil cooler and installed new O rings. I also installed new o rings on the two fittings. Last spring I noticed a leak around the filters. I got two more o rings and pulled that front housing off and sealed it up. Well I should have torn that whole assembly down before installing it. Now, it's the rear o rings going to the stand that runs down to the block. Ugh. What a PITA to get that all off(in a B model), but I had no thought about tearing into it before installing it(with engine sitting on the floor of garage all handy like) with no intake on it. Now it's back to Mack for a few more o rings...and I'm replacing all(including the ones I already did). Plus a new gasket for the block plate. Lesson learned. I knew well enough to rebuild the cooler, but the rest of the connections I figured were good. Wrong.

NOS door installation

Well, the drivers door is now assembled. The window worked smoothly in the lower track, but now it gets real tight in the vent window track. The passenger side was similar, and after leaving the window up for a few weeks it is getting "looser". Not as loose as I like, but better. I've done the same to the drivers window. I have the trim panel on the passenger window, it's all buttoned up and complete. I found out why my drivers door handle sags a bit. Nothing to do with the return spring on the latch(it's tight). Seems the 5/16" square stock that actuates the latch is worn right there. With the door panel off, it fits tight and works well. Once the panel is the door, the handle then rides in the worn spot and sags. I had two thoughts. Weld/machine that area, or cut/flip the piece and use the part that isn't worn. I'm going to flip it. Less work involved. It's that or buy new 5/16" keystock and replace the worn section. Either way will get the handle hanging properly(like the passenger door which saw minimal use and hangs straight). -

Here is what I got last week using Rob's part number. Note quite what I thought, but they do work. Snaps on tight. Guess they don't expect you to remove them without damaging? Don't plan on having to remove them. -
B-73 Restoration

When I bought my B, the rear mount area was weak. The PO had run a piece of angle iron across and just let the cab sit on it. Ya, you could wiggle the cab around. I cut the rear cab patch off and welded new pieces across tying it into the rear of the cab structure. Wow, the cab is rock solid. Not quite as purdy as your repair, but functional! -
Had good rain last night, heavy winds. Kinda hangin' around today. At least it will clean the roads up from last weeks salt/brine dosing!!! Ugh. We've been a bit under temps here, but the slow climb is coming!! Like I told buddy last week...It's MARCH....not Nov, Dec, Jan, or Feb. March!! That means warmth is coming.

True, but you would THINK that dealing with robbers and knowing the history, the banks would spend a bit more then $150 for a camera? Just sayin'. -
With all the weight on the back and using that walking beam suspension...it was not hurting itself much. There was a local fellow with an DD powered old Pete and tried doing that trick. Only problem was he had rubber block and it would not rotate enough.

I just bought the roll foam strip with adhesive back to use on my B model doors. Unfortunately the channels are not perfectly clean(kinda rusty), but I got foam that is wide enough to stick behind the lip and pretty sure it won't fall out. I used 3/8" thick on the passenger door, 1/4" thick on the drivers door. -
