  1. Lucky I haven't gained one of those!! A friend wanted to drive my truck, he got behind the wheel, or actually kinda "under" it and there was no way he was going to be able to turn the wheel with it wedged so tight against his front porch LOL!!!
  2. Lots of new stuff is torque to yield. Yup, you have to replace the fastener since it was stretched past it's point of return. You use something like this to get your angle correct:
  3. Not bad, but agree it would be good to haul to a show, but not sure I'd want to drive one very far. I'm just barely comfortable in my regular cab.
  4. Haven't noticed brake lights on, this is typically just after releasing parking brake only. Not from using service brakes. Service works fine. I usually give the service brakes a quick hit and that usually unlocks the brake. Like I mentioned, this is something that just popped up suddenly. I can't get to the brake shoes due to dust covers in the way. Even if I could get the covers off, the Neway trailing arms are in the way big time and not sure I could even get myself or a tool in there enough to do anything. Thus I have to get truck out of the garage and remove axles and pull hubs to see what is going on. This was before changing the hub over to spokes: My garage space is too tight to allow getting the axles in while the truck is in the stall. Luckily I pulled the axle before I put the frame section on the truck. Once I had it on the ground with spokes on it, I rolled the truck out of the garage and slipped the axles in it.
  5. Remember this has a 1991 Ford frame in the back with Rockwell rear. I had it apart when I converted it back to spokes from Budds. It's been flawless, til now. Something needs attention, but it sucks it's winter and I have to work on it outside. Ugh.
  6. When I release the parking brakes, sometimes I've had to pump the brake pedal to get them to release and let the truck roll. Just started it the last trip I made a few weeks back. I think it's the right rear. I release the brakes and try to adjust the slacks and the RR seems to be still tight. Once you pop it, then you can adjust it. Don't think the S cam is sticking in the bushing as it moves easily. Hope it is just a brake shoe/roller/spring/etc. Don't think it is the can? Don't see how that could be, but haven't pulled the pin out. Need to have a buddy stop over so I can crawl under and watch what is going on when the brakes release. Hard to be at two places at once? I try sometimes. Only bad thing, I have to have the truck OUTSIDE to get the axle out to get the drum off....UGH. Weather has already taken a turn for the worse so not sure when I'll get to it. Don't need the truck til next April, so it's not a big deal(yet).
  7. Welcome to the forums. I wonder if you could just bolt on a filter/oil cooler from a 237? The cooler connects differently to the top of the filter housing on a 237 so I doubt you could blend them together. Not sure about the front side of cooler and water pump though. Would need to see yours to compare. Being yours is a turbo motor, it should have the same mounting plate layout. Something to consider. The cooler on a 237 plugs directly into the filter housing using o-rings. I don't have a better picture of just the side. The front of the cooler bolts into the waterpump housing.
  8. Did some research and found the flickr account with more pictures. https://www.flickr.com/photos/150627670@N03/ Wonder where it is now?
  9. Welcome to the forums. I use typical LSF at the pump on my truck. I do dump in some Power Service Diesel Kleen every few fill ups to give it some added nutrients. Haven't had any issues in the last 15 yrs.
  10. Pictures of leaky valve will help determine what it is. If you are getting lots of oil then compressor needs rebuilt/replaced. Typically it is governor that is bad if it won't build presure and needs replaced. They are cheap and easy.
  11. Clueless idiots activate the brights without knowing as they randomly use their signals. Since that isn't often they leave their brights on. Brights do such a horrible job of lighting the road you can't tell they are on. No one looks at the dash to notice the blue indicator. I don't drive at night if at all possible. Can't believe how much I hate driving anymore.
  12. I went through this with my little 6041 box when I put it in my truck. 1510 and 1710 if I recall? Anyhooo, I had the driveshaft shop swap some ends around that was given to me with the box(was given a short shaft with 1510 ends on it). Took my original 1710 put on one end of the front shaft, 1510 on the other. Then the second 1510 on the front end of the rear shaft(original drive shaft from truck cut down). Tube sizes were the same, so the ends fit without fuss.
  13. Just watched a newer This Old House show and they walked through a security install. It was all web based, wifi linked stuff. All battery operated units that you just stick to wall and magnet to door/window to monitor it. Plus facial recognition cameras. Of course you can upgrade it to offsite monitoring for a monthly fee. Three story house and had about $1K worth of equipment. Can't recall what brand, but I'm guessing kinda like Simply safe. One wifi base and then link your modules. Though if you loose internet or home power, it's dead. You can loose cameras if you loose power, but I'm thinking battery back up and hardwiring would eliminate many chances of failure. My neighbor sells ADT and has approached me about it. Not sure I'm ready to pay monthly?
  14. Older gentleman in local ATHS club had a "cooker" bolted onto his Model T manifold. He said he just put stuff in and when he got to the show it was usually done. Pretty cool.
  15. Very cool truck. Looks well taken care of. The DD is cool. I too just like the sounds of them, it takes me back to being a youngster and hearing them pull the grade on Rt 62 next to my elementary school all day. Plus living only about a mile away, listening to them through my open window all night.
  16. That's easy, just remove all the std breakers and install tandems. Instantly doubles the output of any panel.
  17. Have pop off on intake. 20 years and only sneezed once while trying to start it. Other then that it's been good.
  18. He's been over on the Just old Trucks site posting stuff recently.
  19. I too have my total set way back. Typically an FE runs 40* total. I have this set at 32*. It is just a money pit and making it faster has no real value. None of my toys are the fastest around, I start with too heavy of a vehicle!! They are fun and unusual enough to garner attention. Heck, my wagon has been in magazine print all over, I try to gather copies up when I find out about it. It even made the Australian Galaxie club magazine. They contacted me and I sent pics and a story for both '64's. I got a copy of the little book and an Australian Galaxie club sticker for the car.
  20. The FE is getting some support from the aftermarket. Heads, intakes, 427 blocks in steel or aluminum. They are even popping SOHC parts but they are very slim pickings. Usually sold out before they hit the market. I run a Scat 4.25 forged stroker crank in my 428 in the wagon. It makes it a 462 ci. Edelbrock heads also. It made 625 hp with 2-600 holleys on a factory 2x4 intake. I want to get good parts for the blower motor but just never seem to have enough spare cash?? Been 20 years, it runs well enough for a cruiser. I am just careful with those 40 yr old cast pistons.
  21. It's a real, NOS DD blower right out of the box. I modified it for car drive. Blue Thunder FE blower manifold. It hangs all the way out of the hood(that I never wanted to cut up). I run 93 octane or whatever I can get. It runs 111 mph in the 1/4. ET is lame due to very excessive tire spin. Get used to attention, mines like driving in a parade every time I take bit out.
  22. Nice installation. Is Roadkill a favorite of yours? When they put the blown SBC in the Jag? "Draguar" I just pulled my blower off this summer and upgraded the ignition. I finally replaced the points in my stock 1964 distributor with a Mallory Unilite and a 6AL box. Car starts so much easier, idles dead cold. Don't know why I waited 20 yrs to do this?? Though, 20 yrs ago I didn't have to use my engine crane to hoist the blower off LOL!! I used to be able to just grab it and lift it. Not so much these days. I used to run 600 Holleys, but swapped out to a pair of 660 Holleys. No power valves to deal with. It eats through fuel like it's free. The 600's actually made it economical to drive. The 660's, not so much. It's a stock 68 390 with original cast piston. I only run 4-5# of boost myself. Trying to make it last.
  23. I drove a very similar sized Euclid a few years back at local truck show at Lakeside Sand/Gravel. The ol DD 238 was screaming. You shoulda parked the car and hopped right in!!!
  24. Growing up, my dad bought a brand new '72 Gran Torino wagon, dark green(no wood grain). He traded in the '65 Buick Skylark 2 dr for it. That is neat country out there to visit. Not sure I'd want to live there?
  25. I still use AOL, but not as my homepage. You can pick anything you want using your computer settings. I only open AOL to sign on to my mail. Yes, they do blow your screen up with crap about Trump or anything else to "scare" you. I ignore all the crap they throw at me, get my mail opened and then sign off.
