  1. Yup, looks like you have a DOUBLE OD triplex. That is a 13 spd Triplex, so you don't split 5th gear. That is kinda a "get home gear". Basically don't really use it unless you are empty and wanna run. It won't pull it very well if you are heavy and on anything but level ground.
  2. Rough night with the boys?
  3. Sounds like it's geared just like mine was 4.62 gears. With single OD it would run 65 mph flat out. Did that for years pulling my trailer, just holding it to the floor and go! With 4.10 gears it is 72 mph. They made 4.00 for these trucks but finding that ratio will be likely hard to do. I replaced mine with air ride Rockwell and found the 4.10 gears for it.
  4. I have a 4000# Superwinch in my race trailer. Carefree for 21 yrs now.
  5. The "P" Motor is a good, non turbo motor. It has the split intake manifold. Same motor that was in my truck until I upgraded a few years ago. Take a look at the rear end, on the drivers side of the gearset, will be a flat spot with a part number and gear ratio(like 4.62, or whatever). The same goes for the transmission. It will tell you if it is a single OD or Double OD version: like TRT-722 or TRT 7220. You can look at the transmission shift tag on the roof, but they are not always accurate to what is still in the truck. Truck looks pretty solid. Hope you get it.
  6. Someday I'll get to Mudcungie.....
  7. "Hello Mable.....get me Floyd the barber...."
  8. Surprising the driver wasn't a convicted Felon AND multiple DUI recipient? SMFH! The news only wants to put down the President, they won't smear a real worthless SOB that tried to kill a bus load of kids!!!
  9. I closed my PB acct so lost all my linkable pics. Here are a few. I duplicated what they do with an R model basically. The condenser is under the bunk since there is no place out front to mount it.
  10. I use it for general information only. Though you have to have COMMON SENSE to use it also.
  11. Was this the same driver that took the walking path a few months back with a 53 ft'r? SMFH.
  12. Ya, what it didn't leave on my hands........LOL!! Actually was wearing gloves so I survived okay.
  13. Check Watts for new glass, if not you can have it cut at local glass shop. Just make sure it is auto safety glass, not just home window glass. You might find someone here with used windows that are serviceable? Depends on how nice you need it to be.
  14. Lots of familiar faces!. Wished I would have been ready and came down. Maybe some year?
  15. First upgrade I did 15 yrs ago. Back in then it was $1800 for 6 rims and Yoko tires. It hasn't gotten cheaper!!
  16. Ya, I can only say for places in the 80's. The Galaxy. First bar I frequented during college. It was a big place. It closed a long time ago, but building still in use. Limelight(there were two bars, one upstairs, one down, I forget the downstairs name right now). Again, back in college days. Long closed, but building just got another renovation and is now a home/garden joint. Hot Shots. Titty bar, early 90's. It was a really good place to be back then. $20 lasted all night. It's long gone, local family grocery store next door bought the property and expanded.
  17. Unfortunately I have air steering and I don't want to cut that link up to modify it. Plus most other model axles are too wide. I just don't care for the tires sticking outside the edge of the fender. Like when guys put R model bumpers on them. Just too wide. Now that the rims are all painted up, I'm good for now. The day the right axle comes into fruition, I'll do it. Heck, I'd have to save up for 4 alum rims! (I have two steel wheels left over from the cut off when I bought it)
  18. All done. Finally. Glad I won't have to do this for another 40 yrs!! Jim if you thing my attitude is bad now.....you should see me at work....lol!! Thanks Rob for the research and information. Guess I'll be on the long road in search for an axle(with brakes).
  19. Rant ON: I'm sure most have heard about this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-jersey-school-bus-crash-driver-illegal-u-turn-officials-say/ By the first pictures yesterday it looked odd. I was having problems coming up with a scenario that made sense in how it all happened. Then today it is stated the driver made a U turn on the highway?? Really?? How stupid can you get? My suspicions were right, there is a turn around directly behind where the bus is sitting. They basically pulled out in front of a loaded dump truck! Ya, that would make the body fall off the chassis! After almost getting run over by a bus last week coming to work on my Harley, it just burns my ass who they have driving anymore. Just as clueless as ever. "They" seem to have a complex when they get behind the wheel, and figure they are king of the road and you will bow to them. Or they think they are just driving a minivan and not a 45ft long bus. Just last summer I re-sodded a portion of my yard, and some of it was along the street and around the corner. Come school time, the bus decided it didn't want to swing out and they started driving through my yard and continued all winter. I put metal fence posts up to mark it and the very next day they were flattened into the dirt. I just finally pulled them straight, painted them RED and some how they realized they might not be driving on the road. Been a week now and the post are still up? Of course school is out in a few weeks. I'll have 3 months to get some grass back in. Beside women in minivans, school bus drivers are right up on my list of "Most hated". Rant OFF.
  20. I got the rims all painted last night. Ugh...what was I thinking? This was the WORST idea I've come up with in a long time. Should have paid someone to spray everything. In all, they turned out okay. Better then the crusty looking mess that it was.........but it was wayyy to daunting to do this with a brush. I don't have the open space to mask and paint 6 truck rims or I might have considered that. I'll be getting them put back on the truck this weekend, so I'll post pictures.
  21. Sad story......... I had an elderly friend with an all steel 32 Ford roadster he bought in california in 1962, drove home and restored. He got caught "driving it too much"(like two nights in a row on the cruise strip) and was told he needed to put regular plates on it. That is the only time I have ever heard of anyone getting grief about historical plates. And then I see these rusty bucket of bolts '90's pickups with historical tags driving around town all the time. WTH? I have three vehicles with hist tags, but they only go out 1-2 times a month any more, and more likely even less these days.
  22. I see way too many junkers with hist tags running around because people are just cheap and they only have to buy them once.
  23. I too put Historical plates on my 'B61 15 yrs ago. Yes, the DMV gave me dirty looks and "you better not be using this commercially" comment. No problems. With these plates, you don't need any DOT number or IFTA. Just don't get caught hauling freight or doing something "illegal" LOL!! I use my truck to pull my 40ft race car trailer everywhere. I'm skirting that grey area of the law, but so far, so good. I have my CDL, so I don't worry about being hassled.
  24. Originally I figured the pin might be the same and just swap hubs from another axle. Then heard it was not that easy.
  25. Budds would be fine but seems that axle is hens teeth. Or converting my FA 517 over is not as simple? This was a quick way to freshen them up. Not persay the easiest?? I do have the hubs to convert the rears back over to Budd like when I bought the cut off. I kept all that stuff.
