  1. I am still in love with this truck. I wouldn't change a thing.
  2. Welcome to the site. Have you done a title search with the VIN #? That will tell you who its currently titled to. That would be a good start.
  3. That compact is cool as heck. Well both are cool but that thing has a wheelbase of a jeep. Great city truck.
  4. Holy crap that thing is gorgeous! That is one hell of a wheel lift! That's an incredible find. You are lucky to be its keeper.
  5. I dig the John Deere Tractors! Heck the D150 and the Honda is pretty sweet too.
  6. I think once the driver realized he was unhooked he made his way to the roadside before it completely came apart. Notice the tractor was not too far ahead. Very lucky no one was hurt.
  7. MujeD - I am in Brick so GA is not too far from me. About 25 mins from my home. I'd love to check out that f600 some time.
  8. This is was my email back and his latest response: JT: "Thank you for getting back to me. For your asking price I would have expected the truck to be running, serviced, and ready to be put to work. Immediately. $15,000 is very high for essentially a non running hobby truck. Are you considering more realistic offers?" Buyer: "This was a working truck while we were in business. I have since sold and that is the reason it is not being used. It certainly wasn't a hobby truck and I don't have to sell it ,I wanted to. So I guess considering the above you certainly can make an offer of what you think it is worth to you. But just so you are aware my price was selling it in running condition. This truck is in extremely great shape, other then dirt it isn't rusted out for its age and the interior is not tore up. So if you are interested let me know and make and offer. Thank you" Why wouldn't you get the truck running first? What if after its been sitting the clutch is frozen, pumps are bad, etc? How much is he willing to put into it? Is he replacing dry rotted tires and batteries too? As someone who buys and sells vehicles for a living, its people like this that boils my lobster. Its still in work truck condition, not a fully restored truck. I guess I opened up the aggravation myself since I felt compelled to contact the seller. "Hi I want to buy your truck. Looks like it needs work" "Yes, it does but I want to charge you full price for a restored one, then do the work it needs after you buy it and use your money to do it." Doesn't work like that buddy.
  9. That was the thought that went through my head.
  10. A good accountant knows 1+1=2. A great account asks you what do you want it to be?
  11. I dig the city. I go a couple times a year. Hop the coastline NJT train to Penn the grab a taxi or walk around. Never had any issues. There's a little old school Greek diner called Skyline around the corner from B&H photo on 34th and 9th (Hells Kitchen). Good typical diner food and priced right as a diner should. Try to go into a regular restaurant and get a burger for $7.50 and you'll pay double. Any time I am around there I stop. Of course it's the City so no truck parking anywhere lol. I was there for the NY International Motorcycle as the regional dealership for Johnny Pag Motorcycles. Kinda cool to have an all access vender pass for the joint. Everyday I took the train in, walked the 8 blocks or so to the Javits and stopped at that diner. Friendly locals sitting at the counter and had some good conversations. Then if you go down to the Village, prepare for some weird folks. Some of them aren't quite right.
  12. I am not buying it, just wanted to post it and get some info from the owner to see if they are in the clouds or if they would consider a real offer. Maybe someone here would be interested. If they would do $5k as/is I might have to get a little more serious but I doubt they would go that low.
  13. Thread is called Chicago R Models not Chicago U models.
  14. http://scranton.craigslist.org/cto/3370232735.html This has been out there for sale for a while so I decided to email them and ask if its running and could be driven 3 hours + without issue. This is the response: Yes it has been sitting for quite a while but indoors it was driven there in perfect running condition and if you purchase this it we would get it running and next sure it does thank you $15k is a boatload of cash for a non running hobby truck. I am thinking $5k tops just because it looks decent but who knows what it looks like in person. If you look at the pictures of the interior it looks like mold on the front seat.
  15. 7.3! Nice truck. Trade for the dump
  16. Can't go wrong with a short bed standard cab for maneuverability.
  17. You are going to need a ramp a lot longer then 6-7 feet. Figure if you want to haul cars, trucks, rigs etc you need something at least 14'. Here is a calculator: http://www.discountramps.com/ramp-calculator.htm#div5 Figure long cars and trucks 4x2 are low as well as equipment like larger rigs and equipment into the equation. I put in 180" WB at 8" of ground clearance and. 36" deck height and got 14' min length. Discount ramps offers financing as well. The nice thing sbout a step deck is its versatility. You don't want to have to pass on loads because your ramps are too small and you can't load it. Penny saved pound foolish.
  18. $2300 for the 20,000lb ramp kit. The 10,000lb kit is $2,050 so for the couple extra bucks it makes more sense to get the higher rated ramp system. Plus once you buy it, its yours. If you get a newer trailer down the road, you take these with you. You can probably talk to a metal shop who can build you a set of steel ramps for less money but they will be heavy as hell.
  19. You are right anything can be fixed if you have the time and money. I do not have unlimited supply of either to save this one. Its going to require more then I am willing to do being the body is in need of a lot (rust everywhere), The one door is seized, the drivers door is pulled out a couple inches at the top so that needs replacement, engine condition is unknown as the owner stated it needed work and possibly had a dead cyl which is the reason why they parked it over 20 years ago. It might be locked up for all we know. As a first time Mack purchase, this is not the right truck for me. You guys are welcome to buy it and save it yourselves. $1,000 is cheap yes but I would be better off buying a better truck for a couple thousand more which will save me thousands down the road. It financially doesn't make sense to me to buy the truck when in reality it is most likely good for parts. I don't have the room to buy something like this just to let it sit as a 5 ton yard ornament or part it out. If I had a farm I would have dragged it out of there. My home property is only 70x140 and commercial vehicles are not allowed. I am not sure how long I would have that at my dealership lot before my landlord gets on my case. A man has got to know his limitations.
  20. I looked into the company for the flatbed we had a work. Seems like the have a very good reputation. Kinda pricey but then again you get what you pay for. Tom I thought your step deck had ramps?
  21. Found this on Craigslist. Kinda temping but I have no use for a dump. Seems like there are a crapload of B model dumps out there and not as many tractors. Still for $3500 for a useable truck I don't see any downside. http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/3466520357.html
  22. Farmer went to look at it for me already. It's too far gone. These pics hid a lot of issues. I would be better off buying something for $4k that runs and go from there. I am holding off at this point. I am going to focus on flipping a few cars to drum up some cash and proceed from there. Plus I have a business venture I am working on. If that's sucessful then I will need a tractor at some point. Stay tuned! More to come after these commercial messages...
  23. What was it under? There were lots of categories. I didn't see it.
