Otherdog, Nice Video, I really like the B Model- the engine in the B sounds great, is that a 673? You can always tell it's a Mack from the sound, I love the sound the E6 300, the only problem is it's just a 5 speed! Firemack

Mack 31, I do know where our 40 Chevy and 51 Mack closed cab are. The 40 chevy was for sale last year, the 51 Mack is possibly available for sale. The 48 Mack has not been found. The 54 L Model Aerial (in active service until last year) is owned by a collector in Texas. Engine 3 Good Summary, the parts I got from Brillman were Pertronix, and he also has high quality rotor and cap with brass instead of the cheaper autozone/delco parts which now use aluminum and are poorly made. Brillman also makes the full ignition wire sets for the 707, for about $40 per set, so saves time and makes them perfect. I like the idea of switching to negative ground if you need to run other electronics. Firemack

Albert I switched a B95 over last year, Bought the parts from John Brillman, Brillman co. 540-477-4112. Runs great. Look up the thread here on BMT, I explained how I did the whole tune up and included the set up of the electronic ignition. Good Luck Firemack

Full Fuel 01 The dual ignition system was a fail safe for firetrucks. Your B125 should have dual Delco distributors and uses AC Delco points, rotor and cap, you can get AC Delco or Echlin from your Napa dealer, or you can buy them from some of the vintage ignition suppliers like the Brillman company. I just switched a B95 to electronic ignition (from Brillman), and used all new cap rotor and electronic ignition. Works great and never have to adjust the points again. John Brillman also makes ignition wiring for any vehicle so if you need replacement ignition wiring, he can also make up exact replacmeent wires for your unit. Brillman's phone number is 540-477-4112. Superdog, Thanks for the info on the E6. I got all of the maintenance records for the truck from Tom Smith, the owner. I spoke to Tom at Lititz where the MH sister truck 266 and F model were together. I would have liked an F Model but the MH is in good shape. Ralph G Smith Co. went out of business in January after 100+ years and the next generation did not want to take over. He mentioned that he had the MH I bought (but needs paint) and they have now sold all of the trucks except for one more 1993 MH, and 1 old gas Brockway. I saw the horseshoe for sale at the auction- but it was too heavy for the MH grill, so I let it pass. Firemack

Picked up the MH yesterday, took a little while to get used to the MH 5 speed versus the B model 5 speed. I was able to get some extra parts from a donor MH, so picked up the RH door with the Air window and lock, since it was a sister truck and had the same paint job, I may just swap the door. Anyone ever add the air operated controls to the door, or would it be easier to just swap the doors? The truck runs good lots of torque- but a little tricky bobtailing as most cars think you can actually stop and had 2 idiots pull out on front of me on a 50 MPH road and was lucky I was traveling a little under the speed limit, so I could slow down enough to avoid them without locking up the rear! Anyone know the specifications- displacement of the E6 2valve 300HP? I heard they get about 8-10 MPG bobtailing- and 7 loaded. Everyone has a lot to thank for today- I got a MH to haul the B model so I can be thankful for that! Firemack

Bob Check to make sure it has a good ground connection to the sending unit when in the tank. To test use a ground from another point that you can confirm is a good ground and then touch that to the the edge of the sending unit where the screws go thru the unit Firemack

And if someone said to her to haul ass- she would have to make 2 trips!

I drove a IH Transtar II in 1979 and 1980, and always wanted to get another CO. Since I normally drive the B75 Pumper with a 464 gas engine- I have been paying close attention to my fuel consumption. Driving around town I get about 1.5 MPG, driving to Macungie and Lititz I got about 4.5-5.5 MPG. I decided that it would make sense to buy a tractor to haul the B75 Pumper. Last week I checked out the 1985 MH 612 E6 2 valve 5 speed, which was posted on the BMT website http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?showtopic=15709 Everyone here said this was a good engine/trans- so checked it out and today decided to buy it. It was used to haul race horses and was nice basic truck for the hauling the B75 Pumper. I have a Rogers lowboy that I can use from my local farmer on weekends. so all I need is to add the wetline and get the trailer inspected. I plan on repainting the MH the same Mack medium red with a white roof to match the B75 Pumper. So now I have a Mack to haul a Mack. I pick it up Monday. Hope to have it ready for repainted and show both trucks Macungie next year. The only strange thing is that the 1985 is already an antique!

Guys, I want to add a Jake Brake to the E6 300 2 valve engine, on the 1985 MH. What is needed and how much time to add the Jake? Anybody have a Jake for the E6 for sale? Thanks Firemack

Allison, B75, B85 and B95 Pumpers, weigh approximately 14000 empty, 33000 GVW. I use 14000 plus load for bridge calculations. Firemack

Looked it over today, has 1.5M miles, was rebuilt about 10 years ago at about 1M miles. Engine sounds good, no smoke at idle. I drove it in the yard, but was not able to drive it on the street as it is not registered or inspected. It is the E6 2 valve 5 speed, looks in good condition- tires are good, everything works. Rear pinion seal has a small leak. Did not have any blow by when I pulled the dipstick. Any other issues I should look for with this truck-engine and trans? Thanks Firemack

Guys, I am looking at a 1985 MH with an e7 300 with a 5 speed, single axle. I want to haul the B75 on a 24 foot trailer so I think total load with the trailer will be about 20000lbs. I have known the owner of the truck and his company- and he had multiple Macks including a 1964 F model with an 864 twin turbo- it is still running, and just saw it recently. He always kept the trucks clean. This MH has 1.5M miles. I don't know if it has been rebuilt yet. Any issues with the MH- I never drove an MH- I did drive a lot of IH COE tractors most with Cummins 350's some with Detroits, all with 13 speed roadrangers hauling doubles, what issues should I be aware of with the MH E7 300? Any rust areas, engine issues etc. What is a ballpark price if not rebuilt, and if rebuilt? Thanks Firemack

Steve, I also used Craiglook everyday- I guess Craigs list doesn't want our business as I cannot spend the time to go thru all Craigslist locations to find parts and vehicles. Too bad it was a great resource, if we find another good search tool that works will post it. Firemack
