  1. Had fun going Macungie in a Cab Over Convoy- we have a few other cabovers near by so teamed up for the ride - got lots of looks and pictures taken by passers by. The most fun was leaving- my daughter loves Macungie so she rode in the B Model and rang the bell, sounded the siren and had all the lights going for the ride out past the entrance/exit parade route, Of course everyone got a laugh from that since it was on the Low Boy being pulled by the MH!
  2. Had a great time at the Pump Primers Muster, the B model passed a diesel Seagrave (from McKinley Fire Co) it was the the first time ever a gasser passed a diesel (of course she was on the lowboy being pulled by the MH) going 70 up the turnpike! We were the only Mack hauling a Mack. Got some great 5" hard sleeves for the FDNY truck, got the right rear lights for the B Model and a few parts for the Hahn, an all around great day! Maybe next year CF600 will bring the CF open cab or the FDNY CF.
  3. Was that a B75F? Firetruck?
  4. Rowdy Rebel, Living in Eastern PA we have tons of low bridges- so I set the CB antenna just an inch higher than my stack that way I can inch up to the bridge and see if it hits before I go any further. My stock radio antenna is on top of the roof and hit bridges here a lot and that always makes me duck even when I know I have clearance.
  5. I have the manual, what do you need to know? Hale probably still has the info also. Firemack
  6. Cal Little has one.
  7. Guys thanks for all of the great comments. This was one long day day since we did not have any wiring diagrams or fuel pump diagrams, so just trial and error to get it going. Carl that is very cool that you rode with it when in service in Brooklyn. We found a picture (attached) at the station that was sold on eBay. Al It will stay in Reading with CF600 and since he has 3 other CF's I think he may need some help getting it to the shows so think I will get to drive it when needed! We know it served as Engine 216 from Jan 1987 to November 1998 and think it was then a reserve engine since it has the NYFD shop paint job and touched up the dog legs and fenders for typical CF rust. Trying to find out if it was dispatched to the the World Trade Center on 9/11 and was one that survived. Firemack
  8. A retired FDNY dispatcher had this FDNY CF, due to health issues he was not able to work on it any longer, so wanted to see if it could go to new home and avoid the scrapper. CF600 made contact with the gentleman and agreed to save the truck. We arranged to pick it up last Sunday before the snow (which we know will be here soon!). Left at 6am and made it North Central PA by 9. Had a few issues: LR outer tire had a blow out and was flat , Inner tire was also flat- replaced the outer tire, filled up the rest to get it to roll 2 Dead D batteries- put in fresh batteries Fuel tank was on the ground, straps had broken- used cargo straps to pull it back to the frame- but when it fell must have broken the fuel line or has rust in the tank or filters Truck had not run in 5 years and think mice may have eaten the wires she would not crank so bypassed the solenoid and got it to turn over and fire on ether- so we knew we had no fuel to the engine Disconnected the fuel line and used a temporary tank- primed it up and she fired up! E6 350 sounded great- got it out of the hole it had sunk into in 5 years and put it on the lowboy by 6 pm for a ride to it's new home All original 1986 FDNY Engine 216 Mack CF with an E6 350 with Allison automatic, Waterous 1000 Gallon Pump, all lights and apparatus all original. Needs a good bath and TLC and should be ready for shows next year! Got lots of comments on the ride home- all antiques 1985 Mack MH 612 hauling the 1982 Rogers hauling the 1986 Mack CF- it was an antique show on wheels! Made it home safely at 1am long day - but that's truckin and saved one FDNY Mack!
  9. Randy Storage in Oaks at the Old Firestone plant. I think it goes for $75/month. Detroits GET A DISCOUNT! I think it is 10X40 $75/month SpaceMall in the old warehouse. Check it out and if you need more info get back to me. Our Past Chief parks his car there in the winter and stores his snowplow there during the summer.
  10. It was a beautiful day for a show and was well attended by the PA contingent from BMT. The 39 Baby Mack was there with the 85 MH with the Rogers lowboy and a 1960 B85 Firetruck East Lansdowne PA on the lowboy for a ride. . Plenty of Superliners this year and R's ,CL CH and Granites, as well as great collection of show cars, tractors and pickups etc. Ron and family and my wife and I all had a great lunch served by the HK burger and dog team. John Haines put on a great show and great hospitality. Thanks to John Haines, Art Cooper and the HK team.
  11. Ken My buddy is a painter and always gets horizontal shaft pumps, I used one last weekend for the deck and patio with 3000 PSI, and has a option to pull in chemicals into the flow, He uses bleach which really cleans up on house work but for degreasing the firetrucks we use a biodegradable degreaser from ardex called new wave that would be great to clean up the rear end and around the fifth wheel in the MH. Good Luck and happy power washing! Firemack
  12. Arthur Gould rebuilds water pumps and guarantees it, for about $125 (in 2002). Located in New York, http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/ Rebuilt mine in 2002 still running great Firemack
  13. Paint job looks great-There are 2 versions of the B Model front end- one allows the grill to be removed separately- the early model does not. Here is the Install process for the early B Models- 1. Install L&R fenders with inner fenders to cab, (leave bolts loose for adjustment) 2. assemble the grill and headlight panels as an assembly 3. Using fender welting between headlight panels and fenders install bolts between headlight panels and fenders (both sides) , install bolts to rad support and then adjust as necessary and pull them up tight. 4. Note all bolts use fender washer, lock washer and bolt to protect paint from being scratched. Firemack
  14. Cool Like the blue fuel tank straps!
  15. John What is the height, length and weight of your B-813SX? I think it will fit on my Rogers Lowboy- but may need to use a tandem axle CH instead of the MH to carry the weight. Firemack
  16. Ken Thanks for the link- he worked at Chilton right in our Fire District and lived in Bryn Mawr just down the road.Wished I had met him sounds like a great guy. Firemack
  17. Check with Mike Kitsock 570-617-2376. A friend just donated a 32 BG to Mike for the Museum to part out.
  18. Mack Man Check your local Penske or Ryder, they sell the old trucks and many times you can remove the body and use it as a storage shed. There is a company in Exton PA that sells the old Penske boxes from 22-26'. The company is J tech and will probably make you a good deal. 6 hour rides to NE Ohio from there. Firemack
  19. Any interior padding? Engine cover padding, air cleaner, sleeper curtain? Thanks
  20. Nice to see another MH working, had mine out today with the B75 Fire truck on the lowboy at John Haines show. Great show and thanks to John for his hospitality.
  21. Tommy First thing to do is drain the pump and transfer case to see if it has any water in the oil/gearbox. If there is no water, refill the gearbox (transfer and pump) and then use a chain based vice grip on the drive shaft to slowly try and turn the pump input shaft. If it turns then rotate all 360 dgress and make sure no binding. If not binding then reconnect the drive shaft to the engine should be good to try it. If you find oil and water in the gear case you can try the same procedure but most likely will find that a bearing or two will be ruined and most likely will need to spilt the pump to replace the bearing and pump seals. You can terll if it tunes over and when beign turned by the engine makes a lot of noise will the require to trar it down and inspect/replace the bad parts. Good luck Firemack
  22. Had to run a Wawa trailer out to Manheim PA for repairs- so thought I would stop for a cup of Wawa coffee for a late night run which was on the way. The Wawa employees came out and wondered what I had for them to unload at midnight!
