  4. 37 Mack The easist way to fix that is go to an electronic ignition.I used Pertronix, cost about $150 for both distributors, takes about an hour to install runs great and never have to change or adjust the points again. Also if installed correctly barely is visible. Firemack
  5. Just Wondering- The 19LS was heavier and had a 1000 GPM pump and 707 Gas Engine, the 85LS was 750 GPM pump and 707 gas engine The 19LS and 95LS were very similar- most 19LS had multistage pumps. The best book is the Mack Model L fire truck book by Harvey Eckart. I will see Harvey Saturday at the Mack show in Lititz, PA I can check to see if he has any more or you can check ebay. Firemack
  6. Mack 3P, Does Mack have any plans to offer a lighter duty Mack to fill in the void where Ford and Chevy/GMC left the mid class truck market? I would much rather have a Mack than an International or import. We are looking for a new middi pumper 4 door with 4 wheel drive around 38000-44000 GVW that would compete with the International 4400. Can we spec a light duty Granite? Our 1954 B75 is 33000 GVW and if it was available today would be the ticket with a 4 wheel drive and 4 door cab, which Mack made in that timeframe. Thanks Firemack

Today was busy day for those of us in the firefighting business, I started the day with a fire call, then got changed and went to Church service, where we were honored along the police and miliitary, and blessed with a special prayer for all those who serve our country and community. After the service were thanked by the members of the community and then headed back to the firehouse to go to a September 11 memorial service at 1:00 where the township had erected a memorial to those who died September 11, and next the town had another memorial service at 7:00, so we had a busy day. I was in Canada on September 11, 2001 at a conference with all of the airport managers from around the US, and they immediately tried to find rental cars or any way back home to restart the airports. I rode the train back home to New York City and then to Philadelphia past the smoldering ruins of what was the World Trade Center, that sight will never leave my mind. I've met the guys from Ladder 10 in NYFD that serve the World Trade Center and met some of the guys that wonder why they are still here when their buddies didn't make it out. I think about all of the sons and daughters- today that don't have the last 10 years with their parents that we lost on that day. I have stayed in the hotel across the street from the World Trade Center and for those of who like Mack's have seen the constant parade of Mack's that have helped remove the ruins and are now helping build the memorial and the New Trade Center- I will never forget what I've seen there or the feelings when you walk up the new transit center steps through what was hell that day, but I am proud to say I am an American and proud to see our flag fly on top of the New Trade Center, a symbol of our strength and teamwork to overcome our darkest day. Carl, We ended up getting a series of heavy thunderstorms and hail that hit our area , so I made it over the bridge in NJ but started to rain and made a choice to turn around and got back before they hit, we then had a lighting stike start a house fire, so had a working house fire (with help from our neighboring companies) for the afternoon for entertainment. Sorry I did not make it and also understand it never rained there. Well stranger things have happened. I am sure I would have had the wet ass award for the day if I had made it to the show. I am hoping to get the MH painted before the end of the season, but depends on if the shop can work it in. Firemack
  13. I can offer to sound the siren(s) and the bell(s) at 11:45, I may bring both the B75 and the Hahn, being that the Hahn is a close relative to the Mack and built in Hamburg PA.

  16. ASPletz Most of the guys in the Mack dealers today have never seen an L Model Mack and never worked on a gas burner! First check to see how many terminals you have on the rear terminal block. Then we can determine if they had an extra set up for turn signals. Firemack

ASPELTZ, The main harness should have wiring for turn signals. it should go from under the dash out to the front of the engine compartment terminal block, and back to the terminal block over the rear axle. The brake light switch is located mid frame near the master cylinder, and has 2 wires running to it, with a pressure switch in the brake line. You should be able to get the wiring diagram from the Mack museum and may be able to read the coding on the wires. Then you just make up the wiring for the front from the front terminal block to the front turn signals and from the rear terminal block to the rear turn signals. I used a classic signal stat switch and turn signal lights which you find at Napa or on ebay or maybe someone on the site has these. Good luck, Firemack

  20. Do you have the original Master cylinder? If so it can be rebuilt by White Post in Virginia (google for contact info), They do excellent work and offer a lifetime gurantee. If you do not have the master cylinder then first check with Napa, they still had a listing for our B75 a few years ago, and if not then check with Matt Pfahl, he probably has one that can be sent to White Post.His banner ad runs on this website.   22. Ryan I checked and only have the smaller pump for the 464, so wanted to check with Michael, Michael- If you are not using the original Fuel pumps for the 707's can you put on a blank off plate and sell one to Mack 31? Thanks John
