The Mack MH 612 made it's first haul today to pick up the Hahn in Maryland, The only problem I had was the Hahn was so much heavier than the B75 Pumper that it broke a deck board, so had a quick trip to Home depot and got that fixed and made it back to the firehouse by 6pm. Off loaded the Hahn and had a bunch of towns people stop by to see it already and guys from the firehouse love the truck. Firemack

Hi Michael, I have the MH all set up and the trailer is ready to go. I will pick up the Hahn in MD with the MH and trailer on Friday and then load up the B75 on Saturday and haul it down to Millville NJ for the Wheaton Village Muster on Sunday. I had both the MH and trailer PA inspected and renewed my CDL so I am trying to avoid any problems with inspections etc. I am looking forward to seeing your Bulldog Mack!

Albert, Radnor had 1948, 1951, 1954 L Macks and the 1954 B Mack. Since 3 Radnor firefighters started Hale pump , we went with Hahn as they used Hale pumps, when Mack switched to Waterous around 1960. Radnor went with the Autocar chassis and Hahn body in 1966. It was then followed by 1969, 1970, 1982 and 1988 Hahns. One anamoly was in 1973 when we had one saleman stuff us with an Imperial with a Waterous Pump with Hale controls, what a disaster and a rustbucket, so it was replaced out of order by the 1982 Hahn I just bought. This Hahn was by far the best of the bunch and is a really good running and pumping truck, so I am looking forward to pumping at Harrisburg next year. Maybe I can start my own substation! Firemack

Mack 31, Most 1948 L Macks had the 707A engine. I know of 1 possibly for sale. Firemack

Carl, It does have the typical rusty front fenders, I already called York Corrguted to get new ones made, and that should be the biggest problem, the rest of the truck is still the same as when it left Radnor as it had just been painted and restriped before the 2nd Fire company bought it. It was hit by 13K volt line and was totally repainted shortly before we sold it, so all I need to do is re letter and fix the maltese cross. I drove many 10 speed roadrangers with the 8V71 in multiple single and tandem axle International Transtar tractors hauling 27' singles and doubles, and never really noticed any issues using low range- either loaded or unloaded, maybe the tare on the tractor and empty trailers was more than the weight of the Hahn, but think if it is an easy conversion, I will do it. I was told it is easy, but need the specifics from someone with roadranger background. Firemack

Radnor Fire Company ordered this Hahn in 1981 and was delivered in 1982. It replaced a 1973 Imperial Pumper which had significant rust issues. It was ordered with an 8V71 Detroit Diesel, 5 speed Fuller Roadranger and Hale 1000GPM pump. In 1992 the truck was responding to a emergency when it was struck by a 13000 volt wire in a storm, which caused the right front tire to blow out and shorted out the alternator and various other electrical components and burned the paint where the line struck the truck. The Hahn was completely repainted and restriped with the latest Radnor Red to match the 1990 E1 pumper. It was a favorite of the engineers at Radnor Fire Company as it was a "REAL" truck with 5 speed Fuller roadranger and was loved by all of the true engineers. in 1996 it was replaced by a 1996 E1 Pumper and sold to Liverpool Fire Company, where it was put into service the first day and pumped for over 40 hours at a tire fire. It served Liverpool until 2003 and was then sold to a private collector where it was used a parades and musters in the Maryland area. I purchased the truck and returned it home back to Radnor.

Does Anyone Care About Other Trucks Like They Care About Macks Here?
Firemack replied to stev's topic in Other Truck Makes
Rob, You really got me laughing on that one! Firemack -
I added a 1982 Hahn fire truck to the collection, It's not a Mack, but since Hahn made the Mack Firetruck bodies for a few years it is a close relative. This was the first new fire truck after I joined the Radnor Fire Company in 1981. I was on the spec committee and ordered the 8V71 natural with a Fuller road ranger 5 speed. I fought fires with this truck and felt it deserved to come back home. It still runs and pumps like a top, and doesn't look too bad from 5 feet, but will need a little TLC to get it back in shape. And it sounds great, I will have to add a Utube running through the gears. Anyone know if there is a way to convert the Fuller Roadranger from a 5 speed to a 10 speed? I drove both and would like to make this a 10 speed if it is not too much work. Hopefully will have this ready to pump next year in the Harrisburg,PA Pump Primers Muster Firemack

Other Dog, Nice Truck, I had a 64 Chevy also, great work truck, had a 327 4 barrel and dual exhuast. no power anything, but ran good and loaded it to the max. it was a 1 ton and I used to haul stone from the quarry and the front end loader guy used to guess in my favor of how much stone he loaded up on that 64 chevy (think it was usually loaded to 13,000 on 10,000 GVW. It would ride on the helper springs, on the rear axle, and felt like power steering with no weight on the front wheels. Only problem was I didn't have a PTO or hydraulic lift to dump the load, so had to off load by hand, so had a good work out unloading. The truck lasted years after I sold it it was still working into the late 1990's. Firemack

Chopper, The best solution is to send your current clutch, pressure plate and have them reconditioned. I used a compnay called Transaxle cost was about $600, they relined the clutch, resurfaced the pressure plate and replaced the springs. Works great. Firemack

Jay You might find a picture of the Mack Bulldog with the fire hat on, and take the picture and make that into a label to put on your helmet (if they will allow it- some stations have helmet stickers with qualfications (RIT, EVOC) etc, and don't want any other labels added to the helmets). Firemack

1953 B 85 F Cracked Exhaust Manifold
Firemack replied to 182Fireman's topic in Engine and Transmission
182Fireman, The first B85 Firetruck was built in 1954, you may have an 1953 L85 Pumper, or a later year B85 Pumper, either way the serial number will help determine what you need. Most B85 Pumpers had the 707B thru about 1960, then started with the 707C. Once you confirm which 707 , I am sure we can find someone that has an exhuast manifold. Firemack -
Mark Thanks for the picture, Interesting that SueJoe from this site just sent me a picture of a similar B Model tanker from Florida, it is now retired and should be at Lititz, so I will be looking forward to seeing it in person. Firemack
