  1. Paul, The first fire truck I ever drove was a maxim....it was from the early eighties. It was a great size for a city truck......easy to get around busy streets.....unlike today trucks that seem to get bigger and bigger each year. My department actually still has a maxim as a reserve piece......slower than slow.......embarrassing when the ladder beats us to a call but that doesn't happen often. I like all of the old trucks....International.....Mack.....Maxim......FWD........E.t.c.........the fox in the picture looks cool.....must have been something back in the day! I just happened across the Mack I bought.......and with all the great people on this site helping me out it made the decision easy for me......Thanks again to all.
  2. Here's the tag that was on the transfer case dipstick....
  3. tag
  4. Hi, got a exhaust leak where the two manifolds meet.......where's a good place to look for a gasket set? Also need an oil filter....is this the type other posts say is hard to find? It's a 1953 ls85 707b...".Thanks
  5. It's definitely a hale 750 two stage pump. On the opposite side of the transfer case there's a tag with a bunch of information on it....also on the officers side below the seat it has the pump serial #.......if I get a chance later I'll take a picture of the tag....Thanks
  6. Thanks for the advice on the chrome.....I'll try to pick up some of that polish this weekend......awe full lot of chrome when you really start looking around!!! Some things are beyond polish, but not to many. Also found the Dipstick for the transfer case....had a factory tag that read " never add oil without contacting Mack". Seemed kind of odd....but it was definitely on the transfer case.....oil was full and very clean......Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions
  7. Nice trucks..... Especially the yellow one!
  8. Yeah I definitely need some paint for the diamond plate......any suggestions as to what mix, color, or brand you guys have used would be helpful. In looking at the truck it seems like the running boards unbolt......anyone had luck doing this? I also am looking for someone to do some chrome work? Thanks for the help

  17. Mike, Whats the big box behind the hose reel on the yellow truck in the picture? Must have been a cool site when you walked in there!!!!
  18. What do you guys think of the crushed fender? Also curious what the holder in front of the fender is for.......Looks like Maybe 2 donut rolls? sorry if the pictures are sideways or repeated...
  19. I know.....I'm not listening.....but I have all the build sheets, original pictures, specs on the pump and a few other papers about the truck.....the previous owner got the info from the Mack museum.....is this what your talking about? Can you still get a manual for truck? I'm emailing that person right now.....sorry for the delay!!!
  20. Pumps went in fine.......only had them in for a second......plaque on the dash read "pump in direct drive" Under that it read "direct drive 4th gear"...............but at the pump panel....the plaque read pump in 5th? Im sure once i get it home i'll have tons of questions.......but you guys were right on the money as far as what to do........Thanks
  21. No the model B isn't for sale but they also said they don't use it much.....the manager said they have a ton of money invested in it....but you never know maybe sometime in the future......it's probably the only B with a built in cooler with beer taps on the side! I know they paid 18k for both trucks 20 years ago from somewhere in N.J. I am looking for someone to haul the truck back if you know of anyone....
  22. well, went back today to actually drive the truck and see it in the daylight......not a dark warehouse......got rid of the middle man....spent a couple of hours with the actual fleet mechanic.....went over everything. The truck is or was owned by a huge beer distributor who had their own crew of mechanics.....i was given over 10K worth of receipts for work done on this truck....Drove really nice ....met the man who actually went with the owner to buy both trucks 20 years ago....Totally different experience from the first day......pulled the trigger at 5500. now to get her home......certainly would have over paid if it wasnt for all of you......Thanks......I'll try to down load some pics..
