Could be a few things compressor discharge temp sensor if you have one , boost sensor, intake temp sensor, throttle pedal calibration could be off and of course need to make sure you have good fuel psi.

Had a driver bring a turkey to the shop one time , the turkey blew threw the passenger windshield and into the sleeper and was still alive when he got to the shop . So we removed the live bloody turkey and replaced the windsheild let the driver clean up the mess.

Welcome to BMT congrats on getting your Mack , first thing I would do is get a oil analysis done check for coolant in the oil and for coolant leaking into wire harness from low coolant sensor ,check exhaust manifold for cracks and broken studs and charge air cooler leaks.

What would you want for complete engine as is.

Bending push tubes or rods ? Push tubes yes have seen a couple bent ones over the years .

If he was swapping for a catawiller then there must have been something wrong with the E9 . No one in there rite mind would pull out a E9 for a catawiller..

Does it have the air asist , if it does the air cylinder could be worn and need replacing.

Need more info is it vmacII or mechanical and with 97 also could have e-tec engine which is v-mac3 . -

Is it a sweet smell , that would be coolant , if it is burning your eyes thats unburnt fuel . Is the engine running smooth or a slight miss ? Could be a stuck or cracked injector nozzel . If it a nozzel you can do a cylinder cut out by cracking open the fuel lines at injection pump one at a time one at a time when smoke goes away thats the cylinder that has issues.

Iam feeling so left out ,I lived that show used to race a dodge dart 440 4 speed from tuckerton nj to atco dragway every other weekend . Had more fun racing the back roads there then at atco . I also know were a black charger with orange and white 01 on the side is hiding......

Your a/c high pressure sensor and cool temp are what turns your fan on or off grounded through the engine ecu
