  1. Thats the rack buffing screw it pushs against the rack too give a little tension.
  2. The rpm/tdc sensor is most common problem location is drivers side flywheel housing close to the starter . adjustment in all the way in bottom out and back out one turn .Resistance check pin a to pin b of sensor 200-300 ohms . Sometimes these sensors get debris on end of sensor causing intermitant issues can remove and clean end off and recheck also if crankshaft end play is excessive the gap between sensor and flywheel will be too much so may need to look into that if rpm/tdc sensor is the issue.
  3. To install external oil line kit the jake housing have to be drilled and tapped in a specific place that requires a mack tool to locate.
  4. Look at switch status in vmac with diagnostic reader to see what sensor is turning fan on.
  5. Mack stopped using the oversized bearings because techs were not measuring clearance before installing bearing and on some locking engines up , Mack's crank sizes were all over the place on early etecs that's why some had good oil psi and some not.
  6. A lot of people don't know that 90 degree fitting has a 2 in extension into the block to try and keep core sand out also.
  7. But the ground for the ecu control terminates at the ground bolt under the starter on the block, and that for sure can be a issue .
  8. There are big differances between vmac 1&2 fan setups and vmac 3 which is what this thread started with.
  9. Would love to drive that in Nashville traffic.
  10. Or 2 E6,s crank to crank that would be cool.
  11. Yes Oil psi will shut it down ,try a new oil psi sensor its in the programs features in the vecu can be turned off if you want but factory setting is on so no oil psi truck doesnt run .
  12. A real life tonka Mack ...I want one.
  13. Sounds like a unit pump code maybe thats no big deal that code comes up alot . Relays have 2 big wires going in and 2 small the small wires energize the relay to close and let the power go across the 2 big wires so if you back probe the relay or just pull it out a little take a test lite with key on make sure the 2 big wires have power both sides.
  14. Check the overflow valve at the back or fuel rail it rite above you air compressor if its stuck open it will let your fuel reture to the tank when engine is off , also no malfunction lite rite if the the cam or crank sensors one or the other not working the engine has to turn over sevral time before computer can figure out were timing is to start so check both sensors. Also could have a power relay sticking not turning engine ecu power on rite away the relays are glove box to the left labled power relay 1,2,3,4.
  15. Do you have a glass bowl raycore fuel/heater ,if so there is a check valve on inlet side.
  16. Nope no turbos in livingroom this week.
  17. There use to test with compressor discharge line off at aircompressor and you would hang a piece or cardboard or thick paper for 30 seconds and if splatter was over 2in in diameter or dripping it was time to replace.
  18. Some steam is ok the engine will get condesation inside when turned off overnite and when started and running it come out at steam .
  19. Check the draft tube filter for sludge.
  20. He's cooking the compressor need to check coolant passage from head of air compressor to the block and you will most likey find the 90 degree fitting blocked or partially blocked with core sand. Clean it out and make sure air compressor is getting good coolnt flow , also if main stratoflex line has any leaks going to dryer to replace spray the whole line down with soapy water and check.
  21. Happy Birthday !!!
  22. Need to know what the codes are to start with.
  23. There is a filter in the pump housing. Could be pump failure would be hard to diagnosis without v-cads .
  24. If you have V-mac II code 22 is coolant temp and 24 is intake manifold temp . Check the wiring at the back of intake/water manifold there is a clamp that holds the harness and sometimes it rubs threw the wires and shorts check under the clamps and the connections at sensors.
