A borg warner S480 is a nice up-grade even for stock fueled engine. It takes a few modifications to get them plumbed in but its worth it. You can get a brand new one, not reman, for about 1k.

Sounds like it's an idle time shutdown. Should be able to change the time limits with a scan tool or use cruise control.

Pretty much the norm on e9's. Mack does have availability on some of the parts old stock, but they are expensive. I made up a new cross over and flange on mine. Couldn't justify the hefty price of the Francis headers... Even though I really, really wanted to!

Got the drive shafts in today. I did fresh shafts from the trans back. The first jackshaft is 1810 and only 18". Rear jackshaft is still factory 1710. Didn't test drive yet though. Getting close...

Well, got the air suspension and dump valve all plumbed in. Moved the leveling valve to the mid rear. Lmackattack, that's where I got the idea for using the dump valve on the rear looking at all the newer spread axle trailers. I anticipated that I might loose traction with the rear-rear at no pressure that's why I spent the extra time and money finding an air lock power divider for the new axle. I only use this truck for a hobby so I stuck with 54" axle spread so it looks symmetrical. You would probably have to go to a 60" spread on non-Mack axles. The new rear went in front of the original bogie. Its cheaper and stronger than adding frame to the back.(need to change 2 carriers if adding to the back). Here is a picture from a different angle. Ill update again when the drive shafts are ready. With an air lock power divider feeding another airlock power divider the first jackshaft is just under 19" long

Correct two fronts and a rear. 3.65 ratio with air shift power divider. I don't think turning will be too bad. I am plumbing a dump valve in for the rear most axle to help with tight maneuvering. Should act like a shorter wheelbase. Just patiently waiting for the drive shafts to come back now. Mounted the new bumper a few days before the rear went in.

I finally had some time to work on my project truck so I figured I'd share with my progress. Im making my CL into a live tridem. Some may ask the question why? Well, the simple answer is I can and I wanted too! The hardest part is getting all the pieces together so they match the originals. Here is a picture of where i'm at now. I just got the rear mounted. Still have a lot of stuff to do but it finally seems like its moving along.

You will likely end up breaking other leafs in the near future if you put a new leaf in the old packs. I'm in northwest jersey too. If you need a torque multiplier and 3/4" torque wrench to do it right your welcome to borrow them.

Still had all the fairings on it to. The CL613's are not easy to find. Which salvage site did you see it at? Im putting an old CL together and could use some parts.

American bosch is the AMBAC pump. The bushings in the roller lifters in the injection pump tend to fail on these pumps. You can hear a noise at idle sometimes but once your in the throttle you never notice it. Its pretty simple to take the side cover off the pump and check for debris. Nothing scary in there that's going to fall apart when you pull the cover off so don't worry.

I have seen sticking valve guides and also pumps do this. Is it an am AMBAC pump? If so take the plate off the side of the pump and see if there is a little pile of brass in the corner.

I'm actually a dealer for FASS pumps at my shop. Im going to be putting one on my E9 powered CL real soon. You really aren't going to see any fuel mileage difference or increased power on a stock engine (unless your factory lift pump is weak). Once you turn your key on its sending fuel to the motor so starting can be easier. I have only ever had one comeback for a failure and that was due to a fried electric motor and it was warrantied no problem. They make a good product and its made in the USA too!

I didn't believe it until I saw the bill for myself. 2stacksuperdog nailed it. All the support crew and extra vehicles and wreckers etc... It was my cousin that was driving an he said they were there a few hours at best. Right now my Uncle is fighting with the insurance to cover it. If they don't, it sounds like he is just going to let them have the truck. The woman that was driving the car stopped and admitted she cut the truck off but it makes no difference. The towing company has the contract to serve that portion of the highway and can just charge what they want I guess. Its legal highway robbery.

My Uncle recently had one of his trucks roll over. Elderly woman cut off the driver and he swerved and put it in the median. Truck was laying on its side with no other vehicles hit. Long story short, my uncle got a bill for $130,000 in the mail. They righted it and towed it 10 miles to their yard. The breakdown on the bill was just mind blowing. They brought in a Landoll and charged $7000 for it to show up. Each of the big wreckers were $27,000. ETC... I always wondered how these towing companies could afford such nice trucks.

I would say around 3000lbs. Has tires on it so its 96" wide.

Bought a rear cutoff for my CL project. Needs to come back from Pittsburgh Pa area to Northern NJ. Its on wheels and load assist is available so if anyone has room on a trailer it would be much appreciated. Let me know what its worth to you.

I have always let everything run for a bit before working the engine. I've noticed though gensets with big cummins and other diesels will just start and go straight to operating rpm under load regardless of whether it is 90 degrees or negative 20. They operate reliably with no ill effects...

Yes sorry, I guess I missed the quote button lol. The reason I ask is my truck will not be ready this year so i'm driving out to the show in my car. If the boxes will fit in my car I have no problem bringing them to the Newark area. I can drop them off while delivering out there for work.

What kind of parts? ie: (engine or headlight). I deliver to Newark and up and down the 1&9 corridor 4 days a week.

I have one but it has a bad lifter. Pretty common failure on the Ambac pumps.
