  1. I plan on storing my 1981 R611ST single axle dump outside under a protective cover for the winter. What should I do to keep it in good shape till the Spring ? Should I leave the block heater on continuously, remove the batteries, keep them on a trickle charger, put additives in the fuel, etc. ? Thanks a lot !
  2. I just bought my first Mack, a 1981 single axle R611ST dump truck. It was a former municipal truck. Next to the driver's headlight is a plug receptacle which I've been told by my step-Dad, a former Mack owner,is for an engine block heater. I opened the hood, and apparently it had been disconnected from the receptacle. Is the connection to the block heater on the upper part of the engine block on the driver's side ? I found what looks like a metal pad with three wire connections on it. If a connect a section of 3 conductor electrical wire to the receptacle, to which terminal on the engine block connection do I connect the black and white wires ? I can see where the ground was because when they cut it off part of the green wire is still there. Thank you !
  3. Okay, Brent. Thanks a lot. It looks like I'm going to have to get some smaller bulldogs and bumper guides separately and then figure out a way to attach the bulldogs to the guides. -Mike
  4. Does anyone know where I can get bumper guides that have small bulldogs on top for my R611T ? I saw them on a Mack for sale on Craigs List but can't get a hold of the owner. I've attached the picture of his truck below. Thanks !
  5. I went to look at a used 1976 single axle R 686T dump that was for sale. After building up the air pressure, I went and released the blue and yellow knobs, and all the air dumped out. The owner insisted that nothing was wrong, and that I only have to push in the yellow knob to release the brakes. He did this and tried to move the truck, but I could hear the brakes squealing as they held the truck back while this guy revved the piss out of the engine to get it to move. Am I wrong, or is there something wrong with this truck ? I really did like it for the price, but was wondering if this is an expensive problem to fix.
