  1. As the front springs compress, to a degree you will see the same effect as lengthening the drag link. Normally not enough to pull the steering off center. Gravel trucks usually do not have air bags, but rather a spring suspension set up for heavy loads. Just for a quick check, take a tape measure, and on a hard level surface measure the height of the front bumper, empty, then loaded. If there is a big difference start looking at springs.
  2. The best thing that GM or Chrysler Corp. had going for them at the time was the fact that neither one had Robert McNamara. As for Nascar Racing then, King Richard never used all he had available, just enough to win. As for Nascar, in general it is just like Wrestling, they know who is going to win before they start. Nascar is Drama, just like Jr. said it was.
  3. Any thing that you buy as a set can get expensive in a hurry. Basic hand tools are always good. A good place to shop for specialty stuff is a pawn shop or flea market. They are a good place to find hammers of all sizes and description, punches, and drifts, fuel and oil filter wrenches. You can"t do much around tractors or trucks Without an oil pressure gauge with flexible hose and fittings, a cooling system pressure tester, or a hand held digital temp gun. I once bought a new Cummins engine baring tool by snap on, at a pawn shop in Baton Rouge, for $5.00. When the salesman asked me what it was, I said I didn't know, that I was going to weld it on a garden tiller. I wish I had, I might be able to find it. Depending on which direction he goes buying a lot of stuff now might not be a real good idea.
  4. Maybe this will work
  5. Ok
  6. Everyone here likes pictures, dogs, girls, trucks, babies, just about anything, even tractors. I would like to tell you how to post them, If I knew how. Someone will come to our rescue. Help, help
  7. Say it ain"t so.
  8. New is the Only way to go. It doesn't matter who the re-builder is. Easy pedal is my choice.
  9. Thumbnails attached to what, Dammitt boy
  10. More and more of that 1% are packing it in and getting completely out of NY. Yet the answer to NYC's problems is to raise taxes.
  11. With a Federally Mandated corporate 54 MPG fuel average by 2025, you could probably see even more of this as a trend. Do any of you remember a little Italian two seater by Isetta. You can google it to see what it looked like. At least Ford chose to stand on their own and tough things out. When I was active In trucking, you could not find 6 truckers who would agree on anything. Most, when asked did not vote or were not even registered to vote. I hope you guys are not too busy. There needs to be a sweeping change made, as it is coming to a time when it will be too late. If you think otherwise look at Europe, doesn't matter where they are all in trouble. .
  12. I built my bead seater just a day or so after the last time I tried to seat one with either. You forgot to mention that after you gave the tire a good squirt, you always spray a stream of either to the outside of the tire to ignite it with the match. I did so and lit the liquid fuse, wooosh , it didn't even move So, I squirted it again, and lit it off, wooosh. By that time, I was getting pissed, so I gave it areal good soak of either and touched it off, Kaaawhaaammm. A large ball of fire singed my eye lashes, my eye brows, and all the hair off both forearms. I just stood there laughing and yelling, thank you Jesus I am not hurting and I can still see. I might try it again someday, but not likely.
  13. Flatten the end and add a small piece of angle iron at the end. Look at one somewhere to get the idea, you will probably have to have to trim it somewhat. If I were to make another one I would put the valve and pipe in the end of the tank for better balance.
  14. Just a point of order here. Our founding fathers did not give us a Democracy, which they understood would not survive. Instead they gave us a Constitutional Republic, and a system of laws and absolutes guaranteed to all citizens. This system has been hijacked by progressives and activist judges with a progressive agenda. Our Constitution guaranties us a Republican form of government. Not a government of mob rule.
  15. Yep, I know just the old saying you mean, Opinions are just like Chevrolet's, every asshole has one. I think that's it anyway.
  16. If you only plan on repairing or replacing your very own tires. All you really need is a duck billed tire hammer and 3 tire dismounting irons, or 2 and a tire spoon. You need the hammer anyway to break down tires that have glued them self to the rim. The slide hammer gizmo is not worth hauling home. The best tire repair tool that you could ever own is a bead seater, like the cheetah brand sold at Northern. I made mine from all new stuff purchased at Ace Hardware, for less than 35 bucks. a new portable air tank a 2 in. gate valve, a short length of black pipe, a 1/4 gate valve, and a shop air fitting. Now if you are going to do 10 at a time take it to the tire store. The biggest problem is getting the wheels off the truck. If you would like, the next time you have to change one out. load it and spot in the truck and bring it to 246 Aster Ln. Morganton Ga. I will show you how to slip a tire off and on quicker than a cat can lick it's ass.
  17. What is the use of being a dangum outlaw if nobody's scared of ya. Heck my dad's driving used to terrify anyone that was foolish enough to get in the car with him. Terrorism has sort of gotten a bad name lately. Act's of cowardliness against the people of the USA should have left the perpetrators shaking in their shoes in fear of being blown back into the dark ages. That is not an opinion folks it is a damn fact. When we put up with just a little of that BS, It just get's worse. Washington's elite should be terrified over not having a job. Let's make it happen
  18. Been a long time since I had a really nasty bicycle wreck. you better hunt up some knee pads and elbow pads, and don't forget to roll up your pant's leg. Did you get one of them little butterfly spoke wrenches to go with it? If so send me the wheel when you get through with it, I have a truing stand in the basement.
  19. not enough air, due to restricted air cleaner will do that. If it' s really restricted, you could convince yourself that the turbo is bad.
  20. Look at a TP 2 valve.
  21. And why not?
  22. Might just be an opportunity to see who your friends really are. As a young man, I once made a comment to and older mentor about someone being my friend. His reply has always stuck with me, and has stood the test of time. Does he come to see you? He asked. Your friends come to see you. If it wasn't so damn far I would come at least once a week, just to aggravate. That is of course, only If you really are as obnoxious as you pretend to be.
  23. Is the tank past repairing?
  24. Such a forum or topic might be under consideration as to be for for members only. If anyone has had their feathers ruffled we could discuss that first and get it resolved.
  25. Rodger dodger you old codger, I think the same way you do.
