  1. If you change top plate to manual the range valve will not have a mount to bolt onto the main case.
  2. If it had a turbo then it had the spacer and it was were the turbo oil returned.
  3. The bottom ring is the oil control ring so you be in trouble if you leave it off.
  4. On a eaton it sounds like a broken syncro pin that has lodged between the syncros keeping the sliding clutch from going in gear.Make sure you have good air to the range cylinder and if so pull back box.If you find a syncro pin broken then look for a drive line virbration.
  5. Another way to read your max pump pressure is put aa wooden block between aa wheel and the frame and try to turn with hi rpm.
  6. When you apply the brakes it makes the power steering work harder as you turn the wheels from stop to stop.
  7. First of all you need to find out whats the problem before you start buying parts. You need some gauges on the system to check the floe and pressure. You can use a 3000 psi pressure gauge and tee in to the suppy line to the steer box. With the engine running maybe 1500 turn the wheel and watch the pressure. You can check this out your self if you understand the system. To check the max pump pressure hold the brakes down and take a reading. You need to see 1500 or better with brakes applied.
  8. You roll the lead string or who ever in as deep as you can then push it up on the crank for sizing. But remember it is not a oil seal.It is a dust seal and the crank has a slinger on it for keeping the oil in.In most cases if it leaks oil back there the engine has too much blow by or over full.
  9. For many years i always pressured the cooler and hoses up to the head.By turning the engine and watching the pressure gauge on the pressure adapter you can get about 20 psi against the valves. However i have never check a later mack engine with these funky cam shafts.
  10. That pressure should be checked with a load and keep a watch on it and see what happens when you start to lose power. Also the pressure needs check after the filter.
  11. If the fuel rack is frozen then your not going to start it.
  12. Blood for money
  13. Years back some one at the dealer sent the porter to the lumber lard to get something and as the porter was leaving some one else told him to get him a dozen 6" post holes. So little later the ported came back and said they could only find 3" post holes. The man wanting the post holes said get them 3" and i will used two each instead of one 6".About one hour later our store manger came out in the shop wanting to know what was going on.Ever one was laughing and he said that the lumber yard called him and said that was not funny and they ask for a some one to came over and say that they was sorry for screwing with their help.I had nothing to do with this but do think it was funny.
  14. It may be same man that is selling taco seeds
  15. May have something to do with ATC.I have seen this with 60 series two times in freightliners.
  16. You need to check the fuel pressure under a load and that is done with a long hose connected to a gauge .
  17. The block would be same and yes the heads can be cut.I have never seen fire rings on a 711.When the 673b and c first came out it did not have fire rings but same engine as a maxsidyne did have fire rings so when guys over hauled the 673 b and c they used the maxidyne liners and cut the deck on the heads for fire rings.
  18. It is a mack.I did have one at one time.
  19. Here in our city there is a place that takes new trucks and makes all wheel drive of them and they have new front axles of most of the time from under KW trucks.I bought a 16000 front for 600dollars and put it under my mack. There may be a place close to you that does same.
  20. You give us almost enough info to help but start with is it left front or rear on truck or trailer.
  21. But you can take the vin nunber and call the dealer.
  22. That is a eaton trans
  23. I would make sure the tach is not off a few hundred rpm.
