  1. Some one has done ask but i will ask, why head gaskets?
  2. i have a front axle from a early F model which looks like it may be a 10000 lb axle to me which is for budd wheels with brakes. Two alummin wheels on it if some one wants and can come get them they can have it Springs to.
  3. Set the clutch brake first and check it and then adjust the pressure plate to get a 1 1/2 free play on top.
  4. Start over and start with adjusting the clutch brake to one inch and thats done with the linkage. Then set the pressure plate to were you have maybe one and a half of free play. Now you have two inchs of brake and if you have any free play at the top that means your clutch is not getting enough release travel to stop the disc from turning and the clutch brake will only burn up if the clutch is not releasing. The brake is not what releases the disc but will stop the from turning after they are released. Do your self a favor and forget what you now under stand and what your going to heard on the radio and try this.If it dont work you still dont owe any one.
  5. Plus there would be light coming thru the rear window.
  6. I am getting ready to ban all of you guys so thats your last warning.
  7. http://memorialmachine.com/portfolio-item/connecting-rods/ call these people and ask for james. I have used them for many years but not in the last 15years but if they can be found he would know were.Tell him it is a END673 with 18 head bolts head.
  8. i hope you reinstalled the stat because it will run hot it no Tstat in it.
  9. And also what is hot?
  10. The Cobra 29 LTD with a Wilson 2000 antenna is a good enough radio for any ones needs and it can be taken to a radio shop and be tweeted some.
  11. A DT was a good engine for just what it was built for and if you start jacking with it your going to have to be careful about over fueling it.Its a small cube engine and the fuel pump can put out more than is safe if you start setting it up/
  12. A fuel shop should be able to get that for you.
  13. I have a tee that goes in the pressure line to the gear box and a 3000 psi gauge to check it with. This will tell you if the pump is dead or not.I would say the pump is dead but that is just a guess.
  14. The drop of oil on a paper is not a new test.35 years ago at that time some of the old timers said they used it.It was to drop oil on a brown sack with a light behind it.I have tryed it a few times but did not find what i was looking for. Then some of them could smell of the oil and say yes or no.I do believe the paper test will work.
  15. I am surprised that Western Star is as low as it is because I see so many now pulling dumps and with dump bodies on them.
  16. I would think the windshield would be a big problem for getting broken with a dump truck job.
  17. Show us a photo of the fuel pump.
  18. Mack had a chart for what gears to use for which ratios.I dont have one but some one on here had one.
  19. yes it is
  20. Start all over and let some one else tell you how because i just read a book on adjusting clutches and cant explain it very well. But remember to set your brake first with the lever adjustment.
  21. The adjusting bolt with the square head needs back off to let the pedal down. You need about 1/2 to 1" of brake. Some times you do have to remove the lever and index it in another spline. But if you get the brake set to 1/2" then set the pressure plate to were you have 1/2" clearance between the clutch brake disc and the trans brg retainer. If the linkage has not been messed with you should end up with a 1 1/2 free play at the top.
  22. First adjust the brake and that is by the linkage on the out side lever.
  23. I see you have passed on the torch deal. But for any one who uses a torch on a mack trans listen up.i have did it but first wash the grease out of the opening.adjust the throw out brg forward as much as you can and then go to the lowes store and buy a wood stove door seal which looks like a rope and wrap around the input shaft and push it against the trans. On a mack trans there is a grease seal on the front of the input shaft and a torch will burn it then you will pull the trans.
  24. Do not use heat like your going to hear.A air hammer will help. Also i cant remenber pulling one on a B model but a big sledge hammer on the bottomside agains the lever while some one wacks it with another hammer on the top side if the fender will allow.
  25. The column stays on the box and as for as i know it cant be removed but pull steer wheel and then in the floor ifi remember there is a panel you remove to give it room it go down and slide forward on the ground and under the axle.
