  1. B61 fred the puff limiter does not give the pump any more rack with out air to it than if it was not conncted. But with it disconnected it will give the pump full rack even when the boost is not up.Meaning it will have more response and smoke but when the boost builds it will not have anymore HP than the pump is set for.But you can get in to tenth gear quicker but will not pull a hill any faster.I work with several macks ever day and mine is the only one that does not smoke but the guys that have them smoking think they are running better. The puff liniter is only holding your foot off of the gas pedal until your boost starts to build and then the pufflimiter lets you smash it some more.If some one gained HP by taking the air off of the puff limiter there was a problem with the system not adjusted right or air problem. To me most guys can find more things to worry about than making some smoke and getting in a gear quicker.
  2. I think you need to take it back to who overhauled the engine. You keep driving it will not help on the warranty and can damage the engine.
  3. The 225 HP was a ENDT673B it was a thermodyne
  4. Get on a creeper and go under it.You will find the rear mounts will be on the trans so the trans can stay in the frame
  5. Check Junkman Dan out on the just old trucks fourm for a DD engine.
  6. Maybe one year after the maxidyne was created cummins tried to build a engine that would used a 5 speed. It was a NHT 270 cut back to 240 at 2100 but with a add on torque tailoring device to the top of the fuel pump it would keed its fuel pressure up there at 1200.But it was a flop.
  7. You can have the maxidyne pump set to what a thermosdyne set would be but not the old thermodyne cause the 187 and turboed 205 HP pumps was not big enough. You can make a ENDT250C engine with out doing no more than resetting the pump but it has to be done by a pump rebuild shop. For the guy that said just leve the pump like it is nothen wrong with that but again like I said you done have no top end power with a ten speed trans.
  8. Never put air in a a/c system.
  9. Hillcrest camshaft and machine.com little rock AR They can grind your cam and rebuild your lifters. I have installed or help install two of them in a friends trucks.
  10. I know what they have told you but the silicone is good on the aluminn cover but if I were you I would go to a gasket place and buy a roll of fiber gasket and get the med thickness and cut you one out.Remenber the front engine mount mounts on the front cover.I would check around for a aftermarket gasket set also. And yes reset the thrust screw.
  11. B61 fred go ahead and have the pump reset to a thermodyne setting and you will be happy. If you don't what happens because of the hi torque rise the maxidyne has is at 2100 under load you hit a hill it will fall down the 1400 real fast then hold there. For a working truck with a ten speed you will be sick of this. With the thermodyne setting if will have the torque more even thru the RPM range and will not fall on it face as fast and will hold up higher rpm longer. There is nothen wrong with keeping it as a maxidyne but just remnber to skip gears when shifting and plus the maxidyne is putting more torque thru that trans than should be.I have been thru this more than once. Also the thermodyne that is in it now will not have the right pump for a ENDT 250C.The barrels and plungers are not big enough.
  12. Thanks for the info you provide so often
  13. It is normal. It is not a automatic as like in your wifes car but a auto shifted manual with a clutch.
  14. You say it has a two speed then is it a mack rear end?If so I have never seen one.
  15. The ISL came from the 8.3 C model design.Just more cubit inches. It also could tale a jake brake.I know one trhing that they have good power for a med duty truck.
  16. In most cases if you just stand there and loosen up and tighten maybe ten times it will stop.Doing that seats it if it can be helped. But don't over tighten it.
  17. When you change from one brand trans then it will cost even more due to having to by a core and a set of engine mounts which are different plus a shifter knob and maybe drive line work. Also a shifter stick would have to be purchased.
  18. Are you installing the factory insulators and brackets to hold them in place? If not then don't wonder why they are breaking.
  19. Like be said it will kill the engine unless you turn the dash switch off
  20. 550 plus???
  21. 34571155 That is a 1988 L10
  22. Rick got me one a couple years back.
  23. I am going to play like that it is a mack engine so if so it will be a straight pipe fitting. So just get both hands on it.A crows foot and extension works some times better.
  24. But cummins do have a L10 which is not nothen to do with mack. The M11 took its place.
