  1. Remove the turbo and cap the oil pressure line and then run for a while and see if the oil is coming out of the manifold.May not be the turbo.
  2. And our president wants to limit our military.
  3. On a 60s the updated pan uses different bolts and insolators so ask for the mounting hardware. The parts man that sold you that may have not known. The gasket is different also.It will be black instead gray.
  4. And if we didn't have lawyers we would not need them.
  5. Leave it along till you need to work on it.
  6. Big shop
  7. My advice is call the dealer and see if they can get some one on it.If you cant test it and just throw parts on it the repair can get very costly and still not be repaired. It could be electric and it could be fuel related and by you saying its cranking very fast it could be mechanical related.
  8. Try letting the rpm pull down to 100 or 1200 rpm and see if you get some torque. It is hard some times to get use to that foe some guys but there is no reason to turn the engine at 2000 rpm all the time.Lower rpm higher fuel mileage.
  9. Well I have been proven wrong again, must be my memory.Try me on something simple next time.
  10. Now you know what the road is about. If it wasn't for the fuel tax and all they can get from truckers Some one would be hungry tonight.
  11. give it one and a half turn on the rack screw and thats all you need. If you want more than that screw some more and I can tell you for sure you can get more fuel in that engine than it can handle.Old timers would set them till they could get a small red cone out of the stack and you could not do that long.
  12. Don't raise the rpm.You can add just a little rack to it.Pull the governor cover and you will understand were the rack stop is inside. The rack goes forward for more fuel but is limited by the stop. The is a screw on stop that will alow the stop to be moved forward for more rack travel.one and a half turns of the srew is enough to do damage if you don't know how to drive a hot engine.Just remember pistons and liners may not be found for that engine any more.
  13. These two trans have different gears inside so the ratios will not be messed up.If you want to know for sure go to the eaton parts section and pull the gear part nunbers and you will see the gears are not the same even if you do swap them.i have been there and have tried to telll customers the same thing and most say some driver told them to try it.And I say that's the best way to find out.
  14. Just put a starter on it and get it fixed for good.
  15. Yes you can change from direct to over drive by swapping the gears around and I have did a lot of them in years past but when you do you will dislike it. It will have a coming home gear when in hi. There is too much of a split between the two gears.A factory o/d has all different gears in it and you end up with a smaller split from the factory set up.But in the early years we upgraded HP at over haul time and then next thing was add some speed.I never saw a man that was happy with swapping the gears.I never did try to figure the o/d ratio but its big.
  16. In the early years when those filter were around I have seen many engine ruin with that filter trick.Your lucky if its not spung some brgs.
  17. Who ever told you about a cheater gear was having fun with you.A 15 speed eaton has 12 useable ratios. It is a 10 speed with a deep reduction which has 5 lower ratios but 3 will be same speed as others when in low range. There is another way of explaining it like there is 2 lower ratios below 1st gear in low range.
  18. question again?
  19. I have a air ride mack complete with 4.63 ratio for 1,000 dollars if you need.
  20. If that is a working truck you should do what Larry did and go to the screw on filter. There is one that uses three full flow and one that uses two full flow and the later one use two full flow and one spinner filter. But the best I remember your use the round o/ring.The squar is a luberfiner brand for a 750 and will bot work.If you can find the o/ring there is stores that sell o/rings and most can make a o/ring from stock rubber rope which is cut and glued together like all o/rings.We have two stores here I know of.
  21. When you pull the yoke from the shaft to remove the brg make sure the yoke goes back on in time and that would be lining it up with the yoke on the other end of that shaft. Not the shaft that connects to this shaft.
  22. And time the yoke
  23. Put a wooden block under the gas pedal. But also you can do just what your talking about but it needs to go to the pump shop.
  24. Practice makes perfect.Lots of practice. My self I like TIG
  25. Some times the seal will blow if there is a restriction on the return hose from the steering box
