  1. This morning the news said 55 kids died in the one school.Obama is calling the Governor to help. He did not get many votes from Okla so now is a new chance at Okla. Just heard new update from the OHP and they say 51 dead and 21 of those are kids.
  2. now that you ant got no problem I would take the drain hose for the turbo off and make sure there is not a larger piece of the brg down in the tube restricting the return oil flow.I have seen that a few times.
  3. The snap ring is from the turbo. t holds the floating brg in the housing and also you see another ring there which is the seal ring on the exhaust side of the shaft.Well there will be a seal ring on the inbtake side as well. So stop worrying cause if it as wrist ping ring you would already heard a chunk chunk.
  4. Can some one tell me how much lighter a alummin wheel is over a steel wheel?A friend tells me 30 lbs per wheel.
  5. Wash it off and look at it.
  6. Don't miss the oil pump plunger in the input shaft and also remember to adjust the end play in the lower counter shafts. The rear yoke nut is very tight and its been 35 years since I have worked one but sounds like the torque is around 600 lb
  7. Thriplex with a quad rear box which was common thing in the day.So you can make up your on model #.
  8. Again don't try to pull the truck and damage it. That would be a good way to bend a rod.A good way to turn it after soaking it with a oil or something is jake one wheel up and put trans in highest gear and bump the wheel back and forth and it is a lot more affective than a wrench on the front nut. it needs moved back and forth and the nut will back off on the front of the crank if you try backing the engine I have taken the intake manifold off before and spray PB in the open valves and then blow air in to get it on the side of the cyl.The exhast can be taken off also. If you think that's too much trouble then think about hat you will do if you end up bending a rod or busting a piston.
  9. Worn out engine mounts some times will do this. Also cab mounts bad can do it.
  10. You can unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel with trans still bolted up.It will slid back enough to see if its disc ruste to flywheel or if its the centerplate cracked and binding ever thing.
  11. If you have accident and hurt some one then you will get the brakes repaired.Wire up parts and brakes don't work anymore.
  12. That is a END 673 engine but not the early engine. The first 673 did not have a thermostat. If you look it has a by/pass oil filter and no full flow. On the bottom of the pan is a cover you take off and clean a screen ever time you change oil.
  13. Back a few years ago i was working late and the night guys had came in. One had a freightliner chassis RV in and had both front wheels off. He was in the next bay and i saw him after he had put both front hubs and wheels on sitting there rubbing his head. I ask if he was ok and he said he had just install the left on the right side and the right on the left side and would it hurt anything. I said its not right but will not hurt nothen but the tire man ant going to like you later. He let that RV out of there and maybe 6 months later it was in there for excess front tire wear.He by accident drawed this job and he was to replace the brakes when he got thru with front aligment or what ever he was doing to it..Yes he beat on one side with a impac for some time before he was told to try looking at the L and R in the end of the stud.
  14. I would think if its a R700 it would be older than a 88.
  15. Keep the good information coming cause we need some one that knows all of that stuff. Did you learn this by working on trucks of your own or maybe thru a dealer. Maybe your what the dealers need to hire.where do you work?
  16. There is not much difference in a jake brake and a dynotard.
  17. I am not a IHC lover but i hope they pull thru cause i am tired of hearing about work places going broke.
  18. A engine brake on a E 6 engine is not what many people exspect. They work better if you open both doors wide open with windows rolled up when you want to slow down. But they are great to shift with on a up hill shift. On the rust you will have to open up the frame rails to get it out.
  19. I remenber when mack drivers in the 60s would tell a driver that was running a road ranger that he played with a sissy bar. One driver told this road way driver that had a road ranger trans that some one that would put that stick in his hand would do any thing.
  20. The freightliner dealer at okla city lost one a few years back and it had two air cleaners on it. It would not stop but if it had one air clener it would have choked down. It ran a total of 60 min and the traner that was there that day said the turbo melted down and poured engine oil into the intake fueling it more and after it pumed all of the oil out it latched up the crank. He said the black smoke was so bad they shut I 40 down for a while. It started a fire and burnt the cab and a door in the shop.It was a peec engine and the mechanic go the BTM in wrong and thats what happen.I talked to the mechanic two weeks later and he was still shaking.
  21. I just got my new med card last week and same as always but in okla you can opp out to a indorsement of K on you CDL but your only good to drive in the state and no truck driving outer state. With the K indorsesment they dont give you a hearing test or eye test. Cant hardly belive that but some of the guys i work with has been doing that.
  22. I also saw that my self like it has enough toe/out.
  23. No it will not. Not that i have tryed but i retired from freightliner and the FL50 FL60 FL70 and the M2 is only long enough for a small cummins or the 609 Mercedes.
  24. A 10 code means its time to update to a new pickup.
  25. That looks just like mine and the dealer can order it.
