Done broke somethin' yesterday...
mackcl96 replied to RowdyRebel's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Glenn Mack has a double V belt that will replace the 2 separate belts and will last allot longer...I was changing the 2 individual belts every year or so...until I switched to the single belt and does not need as much tension,,,,and less stress on the alternator. Mack will cross reference your 2 belt number to the single belt number -
IFTA has shown a tax rate on the CNG (and any other type of fuel you would like to burn) for each state,, for years now,,, You not going to catch them off gard..... PA you are taxed at the pump but CNG you have to use the tax rate to pay your tax quarterly but if the infrastructure is developed in Pa it will be taxed at the pump All this will happen,,, when our government gets out of bed with OPEC
-
3P,,,,,,We know you jumped in the corporate helicopter,, Went to Australia for the picture then flew to Canada to take the picture of the stone slinger..... So we have our fix of new truck candy
-
Seen some bed trucks and others advertised as CNG a few different times in truck paper http://www.truckpape...px?OHID=2690877& Westport seems to be ready http://www.westport.com/ Chesapeake Energy seems to be ready for infrastructure Chesapeake Energy Corporation's $150 million partnership with Clean Energy Fuels Corp. will help create a Natural Gas Highway system across America. It will lower transportation fuel costs dramatically and transform a trucking industry that remains an indispensible conduit of our nation's commerce. Chesapeake's investment will underwrite approximately 150 LNG (liquefied natural gas) fueling stations, increasing by more than tenfold the number of publicly accessible stations and providing heavy-duty trucks ready access to cleaner and more affordable American natural gas along major interstate highways. Currently priced significantly less than diesel or gasoline, American natural gas produces up to 30% lower greenhouse gas emissions in light-duty vehicles and 23% lower emissions in medium to heavy-duty vehicles. According to EPA data, replacing just 10% of diesel engines used in heavy-duty transportation with clean-burning natural gas engines could cut nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) by as much as 200,000 tons per year, reducing air pollution and helping protect public health. Clean Energy is the largest provider of natural gas fuel for transportation in North America and a global leader in the expanding natural gas vehicle market. Together, we're doing the work to save American consumers an estimated $1.50 – $2.00 a gallon on conventional gasoline and diesel. Our country deserves a cleaner, more affordable fuel – made by and for Americans http://www.chk.com/i...dependence.html

Thanks Hook,, for posting this This will show volvo a few very important things 1) A factory Mack sleeper will fit on a TD 2) The devotion of Mack owners to have what they need and not going to other brand trucks. Can only imagine how this sale went,,,,,,I need a TD with a 63" sleeper ,,,(red flag on computer screen) Sorry Sir volvo says you don't need it... @#%& volvo get me a day cab and do it myself

What This Switches Do ?
mackcl96 replied to garcia26233's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
In the 90's every Elite interior we had or seen in the northeast here had them switches.. good idea ,,,,,,,,But would have been nicer if Mack ran the power out to the firewall instead of a few inches from the switch -
Looking For Pictures
mackcl96 replied to Spike v's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
No pictures,,,,,,But I remember a Mack Fax magazine(pre Bulldog) did a article on them. The reason why I remember them was the aluminum dump body side ribs actually spelled HIHO. -
Morning Rob, First off,,,,,,,,step away from the keyboard,,,,open the windows ,,,,and call the gas company you must have a leak. I also liked some Autocar Westenstars but resale is and was horrible

Saw Some Cool Ones!
mackcl96 replied to leversole's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Spencer's have a truck show in July at their garage maybe there,,,,I know I'm a little late on suggestions -
You broke up the family,,,,,go back there and get the B and the Brockway
-
I understand the gap,,,,,,but not having the factory rocker panel and no compartment door,, like all other Mack sleeper trucks do,, make it look odd. I also understand looking down on trucks as you pass but on rural road,, that them lower truck run everyday ,,then comes you 10" higher smacking tree limbs
-
Thanks 3P,, for the pictures I think you could get away with a 28" or 30" sleeper,, to meet D.O.T Sleeper rule If it didn't make straight trucks so long,,,,,more trucking company's would be using them to get around the 11 hour rule.
-
It has been while,,,,,,,but do remember Mackpower division was able to get higher horsepower in marine and industrial applications because the torque level is lower then road engines pumping water or turning a generator doesn't require torque so dyno horsepower is impressive but torque is low

Cant hurt (fuel cooler),,,,,You remember the fuel tank heaters we use to use years ago,,,and if you didn't bypass them in the summer the truck ran like crap and MPG went down. Help a buddy with a 05 AI (inj, turbo and Hagerstown exempt the the emissions) and yes the fuel tank is very hot,,the owner cant polish his tanks when he waits for the paver. My thoughts is this new fuel burns to hot and fast......and needs more cold dense air,,,I been seeing this with the my E7 and E9 when its hot and humid it cant get enough air to get proper burn. I have been using the Donaldson air filter,,,,,,seems to be less paper density then the Mack element,,,unless they are now the same don't know.

Hello,, Rob We use to wrap the gear stick with rollbar padding to deaden the trans noise. don't know how bad your whine is or if its coming up the stick or outside. I wrap mine to cut out harmonic tone from the road. Your noise might be more then your normal Fuller whine,,don't know
