  1. Every thing is going to be fine (I hope) All the alum air and fuel tanks are coated with plastic from the factory (pain in the a$$ to get off) that will be gone after dealer prep. The bumper was removed or shifted by the decking or towing operator when delivered go over truck when its done it shoud be fine
  2. The v8 4-valve cranks are fine but rods and mains need to be done more often then a inline 6. Pushing a piston on an angle is more work then up and down. the way i did it was at 300 thousand miles on a 4-valve. 150,000 on a 2-valve they were the ones for weak lower ends. my way of being sure Also doing rods and not mains was a bad idea on the other owner. The crank dose not need to come out for mains.
  3. Thanks for that info. I thought I missed the show. Good to see mack in prime time tv.
  4. OLD MACKS NEVER DIE, THEY JUST GET NEW OWNERS From what I see, there is no chrome shops in the area
  5. Barry, Nice job you and the guys have done.I remember in 87 the mack dealer I worked for put a glider together in our spare time it took two years. Now go make MONEY Jim
  6. Well this is what I think I know in 88 mack had 450 500 V8 and the 400 was to be a E6 call mack with your vin# 440s last year was 84 In line pump started 1990 give or take but if want it to have BIG HORSE got to have v-pump rpm is 1200 to 1700 and 2300 red line 640 to ground before i sold mine (still kick myself for that one) Jim
  7. Ron, 3.86 are just fine but mack found the 3.87 to more durable. I thought 3.87s came in the 1980s 4.64 and 5.02 etc are bullit proof Jim
  8. Tim always been trying somthing new every spring for the paint try this site www.metalwax.com. The (topwax) works for aluminum try white diamond (most truckstops carry it now)or califonia custom (purple) or better yet just call Rick THE BROOKLYN BALL BUSTER in Middletown NY 800.485.5968 I have used Ricks polish for years its good and easy and he is the little guy in polish
  9. 80% state asphalt paving 10% stone 10% coal 10% heavy site constrution(the USA was not built on blacktop alone) 110% is what my contractors get Tim, D.O.T not a problem, they know I keep it up there is enough JUNK on the road to keep them busy Also I chase the wife around the house for the winter, so she cant wait for me to go back to work
  10. My opinion only Mack is not pushin to sell cl to start with its all cv,cvp,ct and ctp Volvo came up with the idea not to offer a mack engine in a cl and I feel that killed sales Mack people want pure breeds If volvo gets rid of the cl I dont think its going to change nothing If the dog is not gold pass it on
  11. Thanks Trent, I appreciate the kind words. I grew up with nothing so I try to take care of what I have. The older program that was installed was in 1998 and it was for off road use only in USA. But most likely it was a normal program in Canada. The last update was in fuel pedal response. You should be lucky that there is any girls in the photos (wife was in charge of pictures). Jim
  12. 18,000 with no box or 3rd axle. the box is double walled and 20k tag axle puts me 27,800
  13. Well mack built the premier just like some of other trucks (magnum, freedom, georgia buldog and others) you cant change the specs too much. I tried for a V-8 but Michael kline at mack (HQ) said NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Premier was promo to push cl sales so mack threw all the options in the book. but you only had one month to order it 454 hp at one time (last dyno at allentown put 477 to ground ) do the math 547 at flywheel give or take. 18spd 20k front mack 46k airride 3.86 rears it will run(but its not light, built old school its going to last) one thing that it has that I havent seen in soom time is all the air, fuel and water are all steel braided line no plastic
  14. Carlisle all truck nationals (8/5/05) Bulldog roundup was canceled for 2005. Volvo was remodeling Mack says it will be back for 2006
