If you don't mind having the husks laying around that's the way to go! For logging and dump work the E9 will live long for you if you don't over do the fuel ! We sold many of these to haul logs and dumps here they stood up better doing this than long hauling ! If you started trying to use 500 HP for long periods at a time was when the issues showed up!

on the MP 8 we had an adapter to to plug into the cooler on the front side hose we would test with shop air in counter direction of flow anytime we removed that dam pipe ! Got burned too many times at the end of the day with a whistling gasket ! It is affectionately known as the asshole pipe here! In theory the EGR valve is closed so you can easily put air to it turbo on or off! on certain models the egr cooler can be changed with out removing the turbo by removing the front engine mount! ( A tip )( if you don't have the set up Pro has mentioned there! ) If your not sure where your leak is Could be exhaust or turbo gaskets start the engine get the sound happening and run a garden hose over all the joints the sound will change as you pass over the leak! Also Note you Can use that method on any of these egr eating engines once used this method on a Maxforce for what sounded like a bad turbo turned out to be exhaust gaskets! Just sayin!

Fuel dilution is a possibility! Oil level???

Yup the head is definitely Anker material !( theory ) the chunk got between the springs stopped the valve from going all the way down and results are what you have! hope fully the piston is ok and you can get away with just a head !

NOT SURE BUT that does looked cracked my hopes are dashed! Liners come in standard 2 thou over 10 thou over ect! on second glance with the pic blown up its a trickle of something!😅

this one is above my pay grade. ! That said the Ambac pump was the most common Maxidyne pump rare to see a robby spec to maxi!

Governor and turbo are the main factors I believe! the torque curve is huge on a maxidyne to enable the use of a trans with less gearing ! econodyne will fall on its face below 1500 the maxydyne will hold on to 1100 rpm and lower!

Just weld the nut on the suspect stud bud ! Just my opinion !

That funny screw replaced a spring and ball that came originally!just clean everything up and replace everything as best you can! Blow everything out as well with compressed air!

Check your hood boot! If it isn’t sealed it will suck engine compartment air!

The 200 series is defiantly built better in some respects than 92 / 93 the housings don't change cause there was no need to change ! The housings worked good for the most part ! The gears on certain ratios didn't stand up well to the increasing horse power of the day ! Hence the change to the 200 series ! Which did stand up quite a bit better ! 3:87 - 4:14- 4:42 Ratio behind 350 horse power and up don't stand up well! 4:64 would last a bit better BUT! something had to be done!

that whole 1038 piece comes off ! comes with the new seal I believe!

The one you had was fine I I used to stuff a pointy bar down there and open them up! At the folded part!

Good find Bro Thanks for posting your fix ! The oddest stuff happens at times and when a guy is grasping at straws its always good to give just one more straw to grab for! It can be the simplest things! Make sure when getting an new muffler that they give you A muffler specked for a single stacked truck! The a dual stack muffler can also be restrictive When in installed on a single stack installation! All mufflers are not created Equal ! Don't ask me how I know! Fred 🙂
