  1. check the bolt for tightness!
  2. When ever you let your foot of the pedal it’s got no fuel if you were fueling you would have smoke! No smoke with dynatard on! Correct? Just dumping compression! So if you do a valve set set tight to 24 or a bit less say 23 even one thou is noticeable!
  3. Yup me too! Sucks getting old!
  4. My thought there Paul is if they could have changed the timing on that bump they would have! I know for a fact if you reduce the valve set clearance by 2 to 3 thou it increases performance I have tried it ! But is it worth the risk at the other end! On the v8?they increased the valve set from 24 to 26 at one point! I continued to set a 24 as the tighter the set the better the engine brake!
  5. Yup you need to remove the lid and reseal it it really doesn’t matter which cylinder is leaking the end result is the same! Order a kit and getter done!🫵
  6. I believe the cam key was offset on the 400 how ever I could be wrong Joey may know more!
  7. Yup getting rid of the squeaze! In my opinion the dynatard couldn’t open the valve enough to completely get the job done! I used to sneak an extra 2 thou it makes a fair bit of difference! How ever you got to be aware of any over speed conditions!
  8. Yup you should see something around 26-32 ! 32 plus is a hot 500!
  9. So is it fixed? are you happy with its power now! 20 psi is still low how ever it needs a good hard workout to build good boost flat ground is not a good test! if its doing what you need to do then all is good!
  10. shouldn't the van have bars on it! ????🤣
  11. True my bad! Just don’t like to cause a fuss!
  12. Guess I was pointing out the cam timing is fixed! I believe the issue is the amount the valves can be opened and the displacement of the engine! The engine can’t get rid of all of the compression with such a small bump on the cam ! Oil escape on the shaft is a factor as mentioned thou! Valve adjustment is important I have experienced if you set tight or under spec the better the braking effect! How ever the Tighter the set the more mindedful you have to be to over speed!
  13. THATS IT! YOUR FIRED!
  14. Fuel timing has no bearing on the dynatard
  15. You pretty much got to drive in the top of the tack to get anything out of it stock! as joey stated its not a bad engine the reliability is there ! It lacks the gidy up go! due to the exhaust system and the cam!
  16. I feel sorry for anybody that owns these junks. The other trucks in the Fleet seem to suffer from the same poor mpg and no power. An old R model would run circles around this p.o.s Yup! Trett ! be happy your just driving and not owning! The mileage and power are the trade mark!
  17. Low coolant or oil psi ! Or hi temp will shut it down! Vmac 1 2 or3
  18. you pretty much got to be there now a days to get the straight goods you can't believe very much on the net or Any of the BROKEN NEWS ! they always seem to get shit twisted or tainted some how! BREAKING NEWS Should probably called Rumor news!
  19. Also make a separate post you will get more replies!
  20. Can.t even by ethanal free gas here Our government has mandated all gas must be watered down!😡this is because they are smart! And know that is ruins stuff so we have to spend more money on fixing stuff! Keeps the economy going you know! 🙄
  21. I’ve had my Gen for 3 years I put a nite switch on it as soon as I got it! it cranked fine after sitting for those three years! Just wouldn’t start 😡
  22. Also be carefull not to whack them piston squirters
  23. Too pricey ! Ball hone much cheaper ! If your going to just rering its a matter of scuffing! and the Key = And a good hard run in! meaning get it up to temp and drive it with a load on its back! Just my opinion! best break in bar non!
  24. You can also use anaerobic sealant on the liner! I have seen this done and it works as well if not better than silicone! BUT you need to make sure the ledge is clean and dri! If you haven't turned the engine Clamp the liners and pull the slugs! If you don't have to much ridge on the liners just lightly hone them and rering it on the cheap! Liner protrusion is important! you want no less that 24 up to 30 is acceptable! from my experience! If you got less than 24 I suggest you pull the liners and shim them! Joey will be able to school you on this he has all the skills and tools to do this!
  25. I agree joey I just went thru the skunky gas issue with mine I wish I had gotten the propane option at that point! How ever got it running again!
