I agree joey I just went thru the skunky gas issue with mine I wish I had gotten the propane option at that point! How ever got it running again!

yup thats how I'm set up works great ! flip the main off flip on the 30 amp and fire up! I shut down all the heavy draws ( heat - hot water- and don't use the oven ! All is good ! can even watch the soap opps if you want as long as you got your fiber!

yup its unfortunate ! I only ever rebuilt one of these ! They were a bullet proof little engines! Very few issues! And because of this, as mentioned parts were always an issue!

somthing that has come to mind that you might try is to check the ecu plug for oil these had oil push issues in the wiring harness!!

yup you and I think much the Same on many fronts! And we’re here if advice is needed ! As for many others here ! This is a great group of people here like it or not mack is now what it is and we have to live with the out come! The cab will be the last thing to go!

Common decentsy Joey ! You ever wonder how many people went broke having to fix this due to their neglect to do the right thing! Just another version of politics! They bought the big guys off and let the little guys sink! I never had the opportunity to partake in the repair of these thankfully but saw quite a few in the shop and it broke a few guys due to its expense ! I've said it before these engines for the most part have a good foundation ! if they were to put a decent fuel system on them and fix the injector cup and bull wheel issue ! Theyed have something! 'I've been away from it for 3 years now Don't miss it ! Hated watching this BS go On! Hopefully they have fixed this issue by now I'm sure they have! To bad they had to drag the Mack Name thru the mud to get there!

Its a funny looking ford axle nut! if your lucky enough to miss drilling in the wrong spot on the nut it is maybe a good bandaid! If you happen to drill on one of the socket notches your in the same ball park! And going to loose the game anyway! This problem should have been addressed by fixing it properly how ever these guys chose this bandaid route ! the nut should have been pined or staked from the get go on assembly! Volvo should have had there asses sued off over this ! don't know how they dodged around it! I guess it wasn't chronic enough to gain traction Or not enough big name fleets had issues!

I have a concern here Is your buddys trans Out of a mack? The bell housings is a diffrent set up for mack and western star ! being a 2007 this is a change over year are the rear engine mounts actually on the engine or the trans!?Your doing the right thing by going eaton BUT you need to do your home work as you are doing here!

fuel pressure cam be another issue with these ! how ever the smoke is not a good thing! the face plug idea is valid but usually a crack with this!

Not a guru on this however It sounds like you have a crack in the dPF there should not be any smoke! Think you need to pull it and inspect!

Older versions of these had a jam nut!
