  1. Mash the fuel pedal to the floor with the parking brake on see how much smoke and then release brakes and mash it to the floor and see how much smoke comes out. Sounds like you got a bad anaroid valve or blown hose somewhere. Also check for leaks from turbo to intake.
  2. We will sell you all the Volvos and Volvo parts you want in the world though!
  3. That would be Blakeslee Arpaia and Chapman they broke up in the late 70's but are still neighbors. That superliner is now owned by Crosby's Northeast Foundations of Branford, but Blakeslee A and C still got their tandem superliner tractor that they use all the time when the KW sits in the corner
  4. Come to think of it we've never really had a truck stuck beside the occasional wet grass and snow. But there was one time... Tried to pull with a F150 and 1500 Ram but they just sat there and spun too. Didn't help the truck had 1/2 a load still on it and the trusty old powerstroke was getting new ball joints so that was in the shop. Finally had to pull it out a 18 letter S$$T spreader (international)
  5. That is why i asked where you're from. If i know its leaving the country i try to get it before they do.
  6. They aren't to many steps just some work involved. On the macks you take the screw out of the bottom and pop the top cap out. We use a brass punch you hit it out. Should come out pretty easy if the grease gets in there but when we did one on the superdog a couple months ago we needed to heat up the axle with a torch.
  7. They'll try to scam the wrong person some day!
  8. I'm starting to want a U-model more and more!
  9. My dad remember back when they use to have all the old stuff working in the center of Meriden with the 275Bs.
  10. Looks like an oldie but goodie!
  11. They use the R-models for jobs that are close and mostly moving welders, cables, etc. As for the DMs my dad says they had power steering and it was a big change when Hallamore got those going from 237 to 300+. Hallamore painted them for Blakeslee and sold them to them since they were registered in CT.
  12. Central North America or Central U.S.A?
  13. They bought 6 U-models from Hallamore. They were 84's with 300s, Hallamore got them from Hertz-Penski and put 2 stick 6 speeds in them. My dad was told to cut all the A/C belts on them.
  14. What year?
  15. 16 in June. I grew up around mostly old Macks , mostly 70's R/DM and a new 2001 RD. Always loved the older trucks better than the newer one, maybe is was that loud beep the newer ones made whereas the old ones had a buzzer anyhow i always like the old mechanical stuff to bad i wasn't around for the B-models
  16. Look at them there should be a bead of weld around the whole thing right in the middle where they welded the two halfs together
  17. I know what you were talking about just trowing out here about steel cable
  18. I think they all the two piece crack eventually especially if in a dump truck or mixer where all the weight is on those axles.
  19. We have a set and a single one. Since we have had problems with those we try not to buy trucks with the two piece ones.
  20. Our 2001 RD690 has the 44,000 fabricated and the rear rear has been leaking for years. We took the rear out welded it and it lasted about a month. Has been leaking for last 4 or 5 years since fix. Never have seen cast housings crack. We have a set of 46,000 cast one and and we are thinking about putting those in.
  21. You could call Global truck Traders in NH. He has a lot of mack parts there old and newer stuff.
  22. Billy's Bulldozer and Backhoe Service, Webster, MA
  23. Commercial Air Services, North Branford, CT This truck was sitting behind his garage as glider kit. He has a restored single axle R-model too that he uses on jobs.
  24. When we went to get parts for one of our trucks the parts guy told us Volvo doesn't want them holding to much Mack stuff in stock and that its getting harder to find.
