  1. Loaded at Gerdau-Ameristeel in Petersburg, Va.
  2. you're welcome. I would have interviewed the pedestrians, but the light turned green so I had to go.

  4. Yep, me too. We used to run 34 to 35, 23 to Columbus, then 33 and 30 to Chicago. That was before they invented the AA Highway. The truck stop at Pliny had the best chef's salad, the Pliny Burgers weren't bad either, and we also stopped at the Schoolhouse or the Highway Diner in Chillicothe a lot. Now I usually take the AA Highway up to Cincinnati and 74 to Indianapolis. I didn't go that way Tuesday because I needed a permit for a 60' load in Ky.
  5. Saw a car on fire in Dayton. 6 minutes to route 35?..that didn't happen! I thought it would be burned to a crisp- that'll buff out pretty easy. This is where I went through the torrential downpour the day before... Saw this big Mack truck coming from the truck stop east of Jackson. Saw this big Mack truck on the way to Moneta to pick up lumber. Power plant in Mt. Storm off in the distance. Keyser, W.V. An elephant- A dog- A girl in a car. A big Mack truck on rt.19 in W.V. Some pedestrians in Pittsburgh.
  6. Saw a wasp in here this morning flying around the light over the stove. I didn't bother with it, then I went to make another cup of coffee and saw a couple more. Then I got stung twice, on the hand and on the back of my arm- and it was on like donkey kong then (Bulldog Man, 2012). I killed about 8 of them...haven't seen any since. In case you were wondering what the inside of a mixer drum looked like, here you go- This one was on the ground at S.B.Cox's in Richmond. The mixer is over in that shed, where they were sandblasting it. Must be fixin' to paint it,eh? Load of 55 and 60 foot beams I took to Indianapolis. The Silver Memorial Bridge, rt.35. It replaced the Silver Bridge, which collapsed in 1967. Looking upstream from the bridge, towards where the old bridge collapsed. I ran through the hardest rain I have ever seen between Jackson and Chillicothe, Ohio. I was only running about 25-30 mph, all the cars were on the shoulder. It had stopped raining by the time I got to Chillicothe, but it must have been the same storm that dumped all this water just west of Chillicothe- Picked up these big rolls of used conveyor belt in Indianapolis and took it to Glade Spring, Va. They should have laid it down- they were 8 feets tall, only about 32'' wide, making them a little top-heavy.
  7. I wish i'd bought the one my brother had now. He had...probably a 90-something model F150, 4 wheel drive, extended cab, 302 I think, looked good, and I know it was well taken care of. He mentioned one time when I was down there that he was going to sell it because he just didn't need it, he had just bought a Jeep. I said "whatcha gonna ask for it?" and he said "I'll take $2500 for it." I said jokingly "you've done worn it out anyway" and he said "I'd take off for California in it right now and wouldn't worry about a thing." I should have written him a check then. I got to thinking about it and said "I should buy that truck, the Ranger is so small and under-powered sometimes, and 4 wheel drive would be nice since they never plow the road over here when it snows..." So I called, too late, he'd already sold it. I drive by car lots now and see all these pickups with 30 to 40 thousand dollar prices on the windshield and I just can't see it. You can buy a home and a little bit of land for that kind of money.
  8. Indeed, thank you- it would take me about 4 hours to type that! Some fine looking trucks there too!
  9. This picture has been all over facebook lately. Somebody photo-chopped a horse mounting the female on one of them. I didn't do it, but I would have if i'd thought of it first, and I probably would have used a donkey instead of a horse.
  10. Saw this on facebook. 1976 Mack U model, 237 Mack, Mack 5 speed, single axle, solid cab, runs very well, drives nice. Asking $5,500.00. Please call or text Brayden @ 330-429-4601. must call or text with further questions. truck is located in Lisbon Ohio 44432
  11. Those pictures are great, some good screen saver pictures there!
  12. Nice girl in a car- nice Macks too! A lot of rules make no sense nowadays, but they're the rules. We had to get new hard hats a few years ago because Gerdau-Ameristeel required them to be blue. What difference does it make what color they are? You can't get up on your trailer there for any reason either. Have to have long sleeves at Sharon Coatings now, just like at AK Steel, even if it's 95 in the shade. And at Lane Steel you don't need a hardhat at all...or sleeves for that matter.
  13. I hardly have any pictures this week, and I just got home from a failed attempt to investigate the radar installation on Apple Orchard Mountain. It was cloudy when we left, but I knew it would clear off... You could hardly see 50 yards on the mountain, we never even saw it at all. But hey, George Mallory failed on his first attempt to climb Everest. However, on his second attempt...well, never mind George Mallory. It is a frightening experience riding with Jo too, even on a good day- today was horrifying. Anyhow, I saw an Averett flatbed delivering lumber in Moneta. Never saw them with a flatbed before. I saw a Ford truck in McKees Rocks. A girl in a car. A Brockway truck in Rupert, W.V. A girl in a car. A ship. A girl in a car- no great "girl in a car" pictures this week, just mediocre ones compared to last week's. They'd be pretty good in January though. Nettie, W.V. Road shots, W.V. I took this picture of this picture because my Dad and Grandfather had a mounted one row corn picker on a Farmall C. I remember that "nose cone" thing, and that it was an all day job to put it on the tractor. I was just a little tyke when we had it though. I do know my Dad liked a mounted corn picker, and wanted no parts of a pull type. That was one reason he bought a 5000 Ford tractor, because you could get a mounted corn picker for it. But looking at this picture, I don't think that's a C, it looks like an H to me.
  14. Didn't Don Garlits race a jet on an aircraft carrier one time? By the way, I once saw on TV before a NASCAR race what 200mph. really looked like. You don't get the sense of speed that 200mph. really is watching a race on TV because the cars are going close to the same speed, and that's what they wanted to show. Ned Jarrett drove around Talledega at 55mph. with an in car camera, and Terry Labonte blew by him running over 200mph. It was wild!
  15. I haven't seen them since the 80's myself...or maybe it was the 70's, I don't remember. But the quickest time I remember was in the low 6's and I said to my friend "wow, someday they'll be down in the 5's." And he said "no,I don't think so, they've gone about as far as they can go with horsepower, tires, and everything else."...and look at them now- I was way off thinking 5 seconds.
  16. they sell clothes at the gift shop too...lots of clothes...and shoes, they're loaded with shoes.
  17. She would like it too, they have something for everybody. They not only have tractors, but cars, trucks, and tons of antiques and displays around the perimeter of the building. And a gift shop too, with lots of diecast models, books, T shirts, etc. If she goes and passes a lie detector test saying she didn't enjoy it, i'll give her her money back myself. Or, she could always go to the pet store across the street and talk to the cockatoos.
  18. When you go to the Carolinas on your family vacation you should cut the trip short and take the crew to the Keystone Tractor Museum, then take rt. 460 west to Appomattox, so medium can take in the surrender grounds and Museum there. Then drop by over here and i'll make you some barbecue!
  19. This is true, I don't know if it put a lot steel companies out of business, but it had to have helped. All those scrubbers and filters you see at steel mills must have cost millions of dollars to install and it still wasn't enough. The inside of the stacks on the trucks at the shop look like new because they're so clean, with DPFs and DEF, and it's still not enough- can't find my Heavy Duty Trucking magazine at the moment- but I was just reading where they've come out with even stricter emissions and fuel mileage regulations that have to be met by- what was it, 2018 maybe? And I see it myself all the time, or maybe I should say I don't see it, all the coal trucks in West Virginia- disappeared...gone. Because everybody knows coal fired power plants are bad, right? That's why West Virginians love Obama...yeah, right!
