  1. Carport guy came yesterday, along with his dad and his nephew. They were out of Mt. Airy, super nice folks. The dad is 78 years old, still helps them out. They didn't get here until after 4pm. but they stayed until it was finished, looks nice.
  2. I just painted the corners over the rear windows at first, but I didn't like it. It had a square corner at the top rear, and it just didn't look right because there's not a square corner on this truck, everything is rounded off. So the I decided I needed to go all the way around with it. I started the light green at the bottom of the drip rails and went all the way across the back of the cab. I didn't like that either, I said "it should be below the windows in the sleeper". So I taped and masked it up again and went down to the top of the black stripe this time. Zina said she loves it, but I'm not sure. I overthink things sometimes but maybe I should have just painted the visor and fenders and left everything else alone, I don't know.
  3. I've been busy again.
  4. Nice, thank you. The teal colored Ford with the white top is really nice.
  5. I was wondering about that, if I drove the big green watermelon looking International to the show in Winchester would I have to stop at the scales? I don't really want to drive it that far, might get ran over on 81. I'd like to get it there though, hoping Wayne Ellis or somebody might be able to haul it up there for me.
  6. Wow, I posted this from my phone. I moved it a while ago because carport guy is supposed to be here Tuesday. Fired up as soon as I hit the key. We drove it around the block, ran great too.
  7. painting the visor is a good idea too.
  8. Nice!
  9. That's a great idea!
  10. I was actually pondering painting the top of the cab with the light green, then I thought the hunter green like the doors would look better, but I still don't know if I'll paint the top of the cab or not. I've been waxing and polishing on it every morning, while it's in the shade and it's looking better and better.
  11. No, absolutely not, I was wondering about the air conditioners that are self contained, you have to put ice in them. Their ads say it lasts for 6 1/2 hrs. I always read the reviews on pretty much everything I buy, but these- some people say they're great, other people say they're a waste of money. But I would like to find something that cools, in case the dogs want to ride. 😁
  12. Anybody know anything about air conditioners? I'm not even going to try to put an AC compressor on the engine, but maybe a battery powered unit, an RV unit, some kind of portable AC that would work- anybody rigged up something like that before?
  13. OK, great- I didn't have sound on the phone or the computer.
  14. I still can't get sound, not on my end anyway. The sound works fine on the original you sent.
  15. Bob sent me this video to see if I could get it to post- VID_20240731_062742.3gp Looks like it posted OK, but I have no sound.
  16. Thank you, thank you very much!
  17. Meanwhile, back at the ol' computer- This is as it sits right now, I took these pictures just a few minutes ago. It's still a work in progress, maybe just some more polishing and i'll be satisfied. I ordered more of the ceramic polish, definitely need to do the hood and the top of the cab. Might get some lettering and pinstriping done too, I don't know.
  18. For some reason I can not post pictures from my phone any more. I have to send them to myself, then get on the computer and post them. I don't know why, I used to be able to.
  19. The paint was not horrible by any means, it was just very dull and faded looking. And it has chips in it, plenty of flaws that you can see when you look at it close. But the main thing we wanted to do was make it look totally different, especially after the seller guy was less than honest about the condition of the truck. The condition he said it was in and the condition it was ACTUALLY in were two different things. We wanted to get it painted but couldn't find anybody that was willing to do it. We had decided to go with red with black fenders, I always liked that paint scheme. So that's when I spray painted the doors, looked pretty good, so I decided to do the fenders, they looked really good I thought, then I decided to change the stripe to black- I like it! Just painting the fenders and changing the tanks really changed the look a lot. I've been polishing and waxing on the old paint and that's starting to shine a little bit too. I ran out of the Mother's ceramic polish, that's the only thing I found that would bring any kind of shine back to the paint. Then I waxed over that after it cured a day with some Meguiar's wax and it's looking better all the time.
  20. That should be enough for some fuel AND a hotdog and a Pepsi!
  21. Here's the latest on the big green truck that didn't run. I discovered a pretty big hole rusted through the gas tank on the driver's side, partly hidden under a thick coating of bondo. So I decided to paint the tank that I took off the passenger side when I put the new tank on, and put it on the driver's side. Turned out it was a bit smaller than the rusted out tank, so I put a couple of pieces of 2x6 under it so the straps would tighten. As you can see I painted over the lettering on the doors with some Hunter Green Rust-Oleum, it matched up pretty good. Then I thought if the fenders were a little lighter shade of green, that would look pretty good. So I went to the Walmart store and bought some Spring Green Rust-Oleum and sprayed the fenders too. I thought it looked great. Then I thought the stripe should be black instead of silver, so I painted that too. This morning I rubbed a little ceramic type polish on that dull paint, got the side and around the corner- you can see where I stopped just to the left of the rear window. Then I found a girl in a car in Winfall, just hanging out of the window.
  22. Well, the final results are in- I should have waited and cooked that steak yesterday. I cooked it on Friday because Zina was supposed to get off an hour early. She ended up having to work an hour over, so the steak was overcooked. I cooked it to 140 degrees and took it off the grill, but it stayed wrapped in the Reynolds wrap for an hour. It was still good though, I would definitely do another one.
