  1. Unfortunately I have to take off to northern Va. sometime today. I've got a load of coils going to Chantilly, up near Dulles Airport. I don't like going to that part of the world any time, I suppose the traffic will be more horrible than usual today.
  2. well if you're going to do all that, I shall put forth more effort to make it next year myself.
  3. Just some computer info that might be helpful to some- When I had a guy in Appomattox work on my old computer he installed a program called malwarebytes. It scans for malware and potentially unwanted programs. I installed it on this computer too, and they have a free version- https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/ I also heard about this on the radio a couple of weeks ago- https://getadblock.com/ It's free too, or payment optional, and it works. It blocks the youtube and facebook ads that annoy the crap out of me!
  4. I'm gonna look for a used Chrysler New Yorker so I can get me some of that!
  5. Well, much like HeavyGunner said- there's an old saying "love the sinner, hate the sin". I don't know if that's in the Bible or not, but I do know the Bible says "There is none who is without sin, no, not one, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
  6. ribs and loins smoking- loin, ribs, chicken, burgers... cold drinks... dog...
  7. I went to American Waterworks?..it was something like that. I took 422 to 286, went towards town, they were on the right across from a Wendy's. Couldn't make the right, so I turned around in a shopping center and turned left into their driveway- it was still a tight turn.
  8. Got some ribs, some chicken, pork loin, hamburgers, hot dogs- the usual!
  9. I didn't see much this week, therefore I didn't take pictures of much. I went to the shop Monday morning to get a load of pipes going to somewhere on Campbell's Run Road, just off of 376 just west of 79 just west of Pittsburgh, but I traded that load for a load of lumber going to Conneaut Lake. I saw this dove there- and this chipmunk that ran out from under a stack of lumber. Quick little fellow, he rarely stopped moving long enough for me to get a picture. Saw this big Mack truck in Hubbard when I was going to Truck World. Saw two well dressed scantily clad wimmins going into the Sheetz in Madison Heights. Later I saw them coming out of the Sheetz in Madison Heights. They were in a blue car. I took a load of pipes to Indiana, Pa. Wednesday. There was an accident on 81 in Harrisonburg, so I went up rt.11. I saw a pedestrian and a 25mph. speed limit sign at James Madison University. Saw a big-ass wrecker in Troutville.
  10. True that.
  11. I'm glad you asked. The man there that unloaded the containers said that building was built in 1936 by the Ford Motor Company. It might have been a Ford dealership, I don't know. He knew a lot of the history of the area- there was a huge building across the road, that's where he unloaded me. That was an old cold storage facility, he said for apples- they still grow a lot of apples in the area. He also said the road through there used to be the main highway before they built U.S.29 in the 30's. It was a pretty neat place, the road going in was barely big enough for a truck, then there's this huge building in front of you, and it's in the middle of nowhere. I saved some images from google earth, I didn't take any pictures of the big building myself. I loaded in Portsmouth that morning and unloaded in Arrington late that evening. They picked the containers up with a forklift on each side then I pulled ahead and they set it down. When they lifted the front one I was in the highway when I pulled up, so I had to go. I wish I could have looked around some more. This is an aerial view- the building to the left is the one in the picture, the larger one to the right is the old cold storage facility. I came in on Arrington Rd, turned left in between the buildings on rt.758, then blindsided back in the driveway. This is looking at the cold storage building- the other building would be directly on the left. ...all in the middle of nowhere!
  12. Good thing Noah was there to steer while you pushed it that last mile to the house.
  13. I like running in the woods myself better than being on 79 or 81, but people pass anywhere, doesn't matter if it's on a double line or in a curve, they just pass wherever they catch you, especially in West Virginia.
  14. that's why you should wear a hard hat and a reflective safety vest, to prevent these type of accidents!..stupid staple guns...
  15. It's all about the money in my opinion, they couldn't care less about safety, that's just their excuse to stop you. If it had anything to do with safety couldn't they let you fix an issue without giving you a ticket? Case in point, one time the DOT man pulled Big Jim over on 460 between Bedford and Lynchburg- probably the same a-hole that pulled me over for no reason one night- anyway, he didn't really find any violations, but Big Jim had his chain binders stuck down in the stake pockets of his trailer. The DOT man said that was "an unsecured load- I know, and you know, they aren't going anywhere but you need to put them in the headache rack." Big Jim said "can I just move them?" and the cop said "yeah, put them in the headache rack." So he did, but the cop wrote him up for it anyway. If the cop told him they weren't going anywhere, and he hung them in the headache rack so they were "secured", why did he have to write him up for having an unsecured load? We used to carry binders in the stake pockets all the time, never had one come out- it's all about the money.
  16. I went to Moneta to get a load of lumber Thursday afternoon. Oddly enough, I didn't see any protesters, buildings burning, or people looting any stores.
  17. I saw a colorful bug. A girl in a car- Wide open spaces- Another girl in another car- Headed up towards Mt. Storm, W.V. You can see the road i'd just came up over the guardrail. Another girl in another car. A truck parked at the scenic overlook. A dog in a car staring at a girl's ass. Wind turbines on top of the mountain. A girl chasing a dog in a car because he was staring at her ass. A big truck. A Volkswagon. Lots of traffic on 270 after I left Gaithersburg, Md. Thursday morning. Lots of apples on the trees this year- I wonder if that means it's going to be another bad winter or it's just a good year for apples? Another girl in another car. Big crane! Norfolk Naval Shipyard entrance- I didn't go there, I made a right turn here and went to Portsmouth and picked up 2 twenty foot containers going to Arrington, Va. Arrington, Va. A big Mack truck with a big load of pulpwood.
  18. I saw a giant inflatable bulldog in Australia on facebook, but it doesn't look as good as your giant inflatable bulldog!
  19. She sure didn't waste any time jumping on the gun control bandwagon after the two news people were killed at Smith Mountain Lake Thursday morning.
  20. Fitzgerald offers a 500,000 mile warranty on their gliders, so they must be doing something right. Their engines are completely rebuilt by Fitzgerald, or factory re-mans from Detroit Diesel, I would expect the Cummins and Cats to be the same. I'd love to have one with an N14. Cline Everhart, owner of Everhart Transportation in Greeneville, Tn, likes them so much the majority of his fleet came from Fitzgerald, and he's still ordering new ones from them.
  21. He's brilliant too! Taking a picture of each vehicle as it came in with the giant inflatable bulldog looking on was a great idea, really neat looking.
  22. They were for me. When I was a teenager in Cumberland, Va. I remember seeing the local drag racing legend Raven Speas pull into Cumberland Auto Service in his famous (famous in Cumberland anyway) '55 Chevrolet. He left it running out front when he went inside and I just stood there staring at it in awe. I don't think i'd seen it before, just heard stories about it- it was running and just shaking, it even seemed like the ground was shaking because of the cam he had in it. He had an automatic in it at the time and he came out and got in it and took off up rt.60. He didn't even get in it hard and it chirped the tires both times it shifted, something i'd never seen a car with an automatic do at the time. He had a 454 in it and ran 12 second times at Richmond Dragway. Not 41Chevy or Freightrain fast, but for a street driven car in the early '70's, it was fast! Still fast to me now. Unfortunately Raven Speas was killed a few years later when he was driving his 60-something Chevy pickup, also a hot rod, at a high rate of speed and a car backed out in the road in front of him. He had to jerk the wheel to the left to keep from hitting the car and put the pickup in the woods. I remember seeing it and it looked about like it had been dropped into the Grand Canyon, just completely demolished. His family had a guy with a bulldozer come and dig a hole and they buried the truck in it and covered it up. I don't know what ever happened to the '55, it might still be down there sitting in a barn somewhere.
  23. Yeah, Barry might have been too out of breath to talk anyway after blowing the bulldog up.
