  1. This has Windows 8.1 I had to test to see if I could post pictures.
  2. I just installed google chrome, always had good luck with that.
  3. Well, it's a done deal. I went to the Wal Mart store to get a USB flash drive, and left with that and a new PC. Haven't hooked it up yet, i'm running a final virus scan, then i'll save my pictures and documents to put in the new one. I got another HP, with 8gb memory. I'm not sure what that even means, but i'm pretty sure it's twice as much memory as the Acer they had with 4 gb's memory. It says on the box it will store 176,000 pictures, so I can put about 170,000 more on it.
  4. thanks, yes, I already have malwarebytes, avast pro anti-virus, fix-it-utilities professional pc optimizer, and run the disc. defrag. regularly. The remote repairs people used all kinds of programs and super virus killers and found nothing. It still works, i'm using it now, but you can't install any updates. When you try to install updates it won't restart at all until you use system restore to go back before the updates were installed- i've had to do that 3 or 4 times this week.
  5. Old Bill always said XP was the best, and Vista was junk. I called him last night and he said vista was the Edsel of windows. He also recommended I just get a new computer. He said windows 7 wasn't much different from XP, but he couldn't do anything with windows 8 and had windows 8 removed and installed windows 7 on his last pc.
  6. Thanks, I just don't know whether to do it or just get a new one, mainly because this one is so old. I do like windows vista, i'd have to learn all over how to work windows 8, or whatever the new ones have now.
  7. I've been having a lot of issues lately- freezing, hanging up, blue screen, shutting down unexpectedly for no apparent reason, and so on. And every virus scan comes up clean, every optimizer program says my PC is optimized, registry clean, no defects found. I've had computer experts working on it remotely every day since the day before Christmas, and they finally gave up on it yesterday. They suggested I get a USB flash drive to save my pictures and documents and they were going to use the whatcha-ma-callit restore to put everything back like it was when it left the factory, totally clean everything, and reload windows. I thought since this PC was made in 2006 i'd probably be as well off to just get a new one. All I need is the tower part, and new ones have waaaay more memory than this one. Has anybody here ever done the system restore thing?
  8. I'm with bullhusk, fracking is everywhere in Pa, Oh, and W.V. That will get you out of city traffic and tolls. Traffic and tolls might not bother you, but nobody wants to work for a dick.
  9. It's been a great year! Thanks for being a part of it.

Yes it has. And thank you Tom for all your photo essays. Oh and the Winfall Wimmins

  10. It's all over 'til next year.
  11. Yeah, uh-huh...sure you did Ken, sure you did.
  12. You were expecting nice twins like this? too bad, not gonna happen- this is them
  13. They used to have one of these parked in front of an Edgcomb Steel we used to load at, up north of Philly...can't remember the name of it. There was lots of Edgcomb Steel centers around, even one in Troy, Va. but it's Mac Steel now. This one was at the White Bash at the Keystone Tractor Museum a few years ago.
  14. Oh, I almost forgot this- a Christmas classic from years past!
  15. I just ran to the mailbox- ok, I actually walked- to get mine...all I got was an electric bill. Could have sworn I just paid them last month.
  16. But he's also courteous- he said "oops, excuse me- sorry, my bad."
  17. Wow, great pictures- has everything from dog sleds to snowmobiles to pretty women on horses to polar bears...looks a little chilly there though!
  18. I don't know what's true any more, but you hear things and think "that might be true" - http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/01/07/top-ten-reasons-sandy-hook-was-an-elaborate-hoax/
  19. I thought that was yours, I heard it running. Sounds like you've got one of them there 16V92 Marine Diesels in her, eh?.. or twin 318's? I was about a mile away with the windows up and the radio on when I heard it. I see you have a support boat to the right too, carrying spare parts and oil I assume.
  20. It's been quite a few years since I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We were talking about tolls the other day, wonder how much that costs for a truck now? I think it was about $40 the last time I crossed it, and I can't even remember how long ago it was.
  21. Well, anyhow- i've got a "We Scoop Dog Poop" Pet Waste Removal Va. and D.C. ad at the bottom now.
