  1. Saw a video last week where a guy stuck an acetylene torch in a tire and turned the acetylene on for a few seconds, then lit it. Worked great, you could go that route.
  2. I bought this book , from Amazon I think, that has the whole story of that convoy. It's a great book, about the trucking career and history of Cliff Bishop in Alaska and it's well worth getting.
  3. Did you know that Pinochio was not a great motivational speaker?
  4. Happy birthday.
  5. Once upon a time, I said "I thought Monday was a holiday".

And Mike Almond said "it is- for everybody but us".

So I made me six barbecue sammiches to go, and i'm about to hit the road.

    The end.

  6. Thanks Ken, i'll be laboring up to Chester, W.V. with a load of Kyanite in a little while.
  7. Is that Massey Ferguson a V8?
  8. Wow- they have them on facebook too?..shocking!
  9. ...and if you feel really adventurous you could get a bunch of raincoats and some glue, make a raft out of them, inflate it on the way to Alcatraz, find a makeshift paddle, and when you get there launch the raft and see if you can escape. ...just a thought. (Paul Van Scott,1953)

Beats me, I have no idea what it means either. I copied and pasted it on my facebook page because it seemed like the thing to do.I think if somebody becomes a gazillionaire because of any of my pictures posted I can get a cut.

  11. Oh yeah, that reminds me- I thought about the Cross Bronx Thursday in Atlanta. I delivered in Norcross and had to go to Cartersville to load. A little ways after I got on 75 north I saw a nice looking car parked on the left shoulder by the median. It was sitting on 4 cinder blocks, tires and wheels gone.
  12. Indeed!
  13. Nah, i've had boston butts smoking since 4am. They've already got a pile of Prostars, this is the first Lonestar though.
  14. I told Jeff I was gonna do that, but I put it in the fan belt hall of fame- I hung it on the wall in the shop.
  15. I saw some big Mack trucks Monday when I went to load at what used to be Cycle Systems in Lynchburg. Now it's owned by Gerdau. The mud there was knee deep and when we tried to back around through the mud and up over the hump and around the bend to back down the train tracks the frame rails on the drop deck trailer would bottom out on the hump and I was stuck. Tore a mudflap off in the mud trying to get in there. So they moved a few train cars so I could pull in and then turn left up the tracks, and then back down the tracks to the crane. By the time I got chained down I was covered with mud. Road shots, rt.220 at Eagle Rock. A girl in a car. The red light on the amp meter gauge came on on the way to McKeesport, it was showing discharge and the volt meter dropped to 12. So I told Wooly Booger "My fan belt just broke". So we pulled over on 79 at the end of the ramp at the rest area at the 50 mile marker, opened the hood,I pulled the broken belt out, and there was a piece left that was only 2 ribs wide, but it was whole. It wasn't much bigger than a shoestring but I got it back on, skinning my arm up in the process. Those fan blades are sharp. I said "this is a big waste of time, this belt won't last 5 minutes". But lasted all the way to Mckeesport. Then Tuesday morning I figured i'd go load at Gav-Tech in Pittsburgh then run over to the KW place in New Stanton. Called New Stanton, they didn't have the belt. So I figure i'll head on down 79 and stop at KW in Jane Lew and get one. When I got to Jane Lew it still hadn't broken so I never slowed down- I could make it to Concord by dark anyway. And I did, and that little piece of belt never did break. That's all I had left but it lasted about 500 miles...hey, that's blood on the fan shroud. Saw this girl in this car driving completely by mind control- and we weren't at a stoplight this time, she was motoring down I-85. Saw some kind of creature. Yep, those two Diamond Reos are still sitting there. I thought I saw a USA Truck on 81 in Wytheville that was going to turn over any minute, so I had my camera ready so I could post it on youtube. But it was just the trailer being pulled by a wrecker. Traffic on the D.C. beltway yesterday morning. I had to go from Atlanta to Baltimore and unload yesterday morning. Saw a pedestrian sipping a soda on the way back too. And a big yellow machine going north on rt. 15. Came through Fork Union, but saw no evidence of 41Chevy being there. Saw a new unit at the yard when I got in.
  16. Yeah, sure you didn't- I think you wanted to show off. Well done!
  17. Had a lot of fun in this old '64 Scout.

  18. I have a dog on duty to keep the squirrels away. Huh?..you talkin' to me? never mind.
  19. I put some stuff in the compost bin yesterday and noticed this half eaten pear on the ground under the pear tree. And there was only one pear left on the whole tree- stupid squirrels! And I know the rules- no pictures, it didn't happen. But- I stopped by the dumpster on the way to the store yesterday. After I slung my bag of empty beer cans trash into the dumpster I noticed a bunch of kid's toys laying on the ground, lots of dolls and stuffed animals. One doll was huge, about 3 feets tall with curly blonde hair. And one of the stuffed toys was a big pony about 4 feet long. Sooooo...when I got done the doll was in the "feet back and spread 'em" position, bending over with it's hands on the little concrete wall and the pony was straddling it. I got back in the pickup and Jo was trying to make herself even smaller than she is, which is pretty small. I said "where's the camera?" and she said "it's in the glove compartment...of my car." She always had her camera in the truck, but not then. That's her story anyway. I thought it was pretty funny, but then my sense of humor is a little different from most people's I guess.
  20. Big fish in a small pond- randyp,2010
  21. I can see letting her paint the nails, but i'm surprised he let her shave him and cut all his hair off.
  22. ...or stock it with catfish.
  23. I might see you on rt.11 or 80 or 79 sometime, I travel that part of the world pretty often.
