MACUNGIE 2024/BMT THURSDAY NIGHT GATHERING
other dog replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
Zina went down to get coffee this morning and brought this back for me. Not too shabby for a motel breakfast. I'm sure they probably have regular bacon and sausage and pancakes and stuff too. -
Mack parked at the motel. We didn't see the owner, but we've talked to him before. He stays here every year. I believe he said he put a Cummins diesel out of a Dodge pickup in it and also changed the rear. I think the man told us he was in his 80's, he's on up there, and the truck would do 80 too. Actually, the green KW looked pretty good too.

Well, here's a food review for you Bob- We ordered delivery from this place. Zina from Spout Spring, formerly from Gladys, formerly from Florida, formerly from Connecticut got an eggplant sub. It looked like this- She said it was good. I got a meatball with peppers and onions. It looked like this- It was very good, just needed a little more sauce. They also have the meatball parmigiana sub, that might be better, but this was a good sammich. This is a small part of the menu- -
I always stopped at Big Boys, no problem finding a parking spot either because all the super truckers had to go to the Pilot or the Petro.
-
Not a lot of difference Bob. We switched from - well, no, I switched from U.S. Cellular to T Mobile and complained all the time that it wasn't near as good, but now I hear a lot of people complaining about U.S. Cellular too so I don't know. I never had a problem with U S. Cellular.

We got the clams in CT, now we're on I-84 in New York. Google says it's about 2 hrs. and 40 minutes to Fogelsville.
-
A stop for some more whole belly clams and we're out of here. Finally- seems like we've been here a month! Now onward to Macungie!
-
Yes sir!

Well, getting back to the main subject here- I only chained up once in my life. A guy gave me a set of chains that fit my Ford Ranger pickup because he didn't need them anymore. We had a pretty deep snow one time, 6 or 8 inches anyway, and I put them on pretty much just to try them out. Drove out the driveway and over to the beer store and back, no problem.

He doesn't care about sauce dripping on you, he just doesn't want you to know that it came from WaWa 🤣 -

I parked at the Boy Scout lot the first time I went, it's on the left just before you get to the park if you're coming south on 100. The other times we parked at the fire department lot, it's to the right just across from the park. -

That's a great excursion, I really enjoyed the old steel mill, but I loaded beams there a lot in the 80's. Very interesting for anyone to see though. -

Bob that means he will bring some Reynolds wrap from home to re-wrap the meatball sub in that he got from WaWa. -

They might even have a decent meatball sub at the WaWa just down the street from the motel. -

Maybe, I thought sure Randy would know a lot about Allentown/Bethlehem but maybe not. -
Haven't seen any Moxie yet!
-
Absolutely! Glad you found him, I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't found Roman, or if something had happened to him. He's never spent a night outdoors in his life and he's not used to traffic at all. We have about 3 or four cars go by our house a day, and 2 of them are probably the same guy 🤣. It's a different world up here, I can't wait to leave.
-
We probably should have filled up before we got to Connecticut. We did get to Sam the Clam's yesterday for whole belly clams, but we had to leave early because the three teenagers who were dog sitting let Roman bolt out of the door and disappear into the woods, no doubt looking for me. He hates to be left. So he's lost in the woods somewhere in Connecticut, where he doesn't know anybody. We looked and called from 7:30 until 10:30 when he came out of the woods and ran to Zina. I was out walking the streets and calling him, pretty much as lost as he was. The great thing was all the people, lots of people in that neighborhood, Zina's friends, animal control, everybody was looking for him. The kid who let him get away felt terrible and needless to say I was highly pissed but I told him things happen, we're just thankful he found his way back and was safe and sound. These are the whole belly clams- I went with the fish and chips myself.
-
We're in Southington CT. right now. We're going to see Zina's dad and some more of her family while we're here, her father is 90 years old. Gets around good though. But the other thing she always does when we come up here is go to "Sam the Clam's" for whole belly clams, she loves them. We'll leave here Wednesday and head on to Macungie.

Sometimes you need to drive long ways to see a Mack truck

Those mirrors in the Mosques- that's just amazing! The whole building is amazing! -
He saw me in Oklahoma one time but I didn't see him. That's as close as I ever came to meeting him, but I agree totally with what you said about just reading his posts. He was a good man.
