  1. There's no shame in crying. It means you're human. I've had Other Dog about 12 years now, and we guessed him to be a year old when he first appeared. Longest i've ever had a dog, and the best dog i've ever had. If anything happened to him i'm sure i'd cry. But I agree with the "don't give up". Many years ago- ok, many, many years ago- when I was a kid we had an old family dog we called "Mutt". My Ma said Mutt got hit in the road by the big green H&C coffee truck that used to pass by our house. Mutt was young at the time, and they put him in the old A-frame doghouse they had. She thought Mutt was going to die for sure. He wouldn't eat or drink a thing and wouldn't move. Her father in law, my grandfather, told her to go to the store and get a can of canned fish. He said if Mutt ate the fish he would be fine...if not, there was nothing she could do. So she did, Mutt ate the fish, and he did recover. In fact, he lived over 20 years. He was the oldest dog I ever knew. I don't think eating the fish had anything to do with Mutt getting better, my grandfather just knew that if he would eat the fish he was gonna be OK. This doesn't really have anything to do with your situation because your dog wasn't hit by an H&C Coffee truck, but it's a true story, you can ask my Ma. Dogs are pretty tough.
  2. Wow, that's just unreal- or real, depending on how you look at it. I especially like the dozer, and the dirt on the dump buckets- never seen models look more real.
  3. Heckuva deal on the tires! I like that IH dump too. And the gripping descriptions-awesome!..could not have been done any better.
  4. I don't understand it, I saw more Winfall womens this week than I have for a long time, and see how they were all waving at me- apparently they just love a big red truck.
  5. Once again, I didn't see much this week. Saw this girl a few miles north of Winfall when I was on the way to Long Island to load crane mats. I think she wanted a ride, but I didn't have time to stop. She made it to Winfall though, I saw her again on my way back. She waved as I went by. It was snowy and icy all day Monday, stayed around 28-30 dgrees all day. When I got to Summersville, W.V. Monday night it was 38 degrees. I saw NoClueJoe66 in Pa. Monday night too, but I did not take a photograph of him. So, according to the rules I didn't really see him... Saw this girl at the Wal Mart in Gladys. She was waving at me to come over and help her with something in her car, but I just didn't have time. I know she made out OK though, I saw her later in Winfall. She even waved at me when I went by, and yelled something that rhymed with "mass-pole". I have no idea what that meant. Saw some cows in Charlotte, N.C. Things are getting green in sunny S.C. Looks like a Cargo Star IH, too bad my windshield was dirty. I took a load of steel to Duluth, Ga. and loaded these units in Athens. Going to a landfill in Narvon, Pa...wherever that is- couldn't find it on the map. I'll google it later. Chipping operation out here on rt. 699. Saw this girl out by Winfall Beach. She tried to stop me because she was having some difficulty with her clothes, but I kept going for her own good- it's still way too cold to go swimming. I guess the stupid girl went swimming anyway, she was waving at me as she was walking towards Lake Winfall when I came back by there.
  6. I probably won't be home on Wednesday, but I saw a wicked winch once.
  7. I was hoping it was at the Keystone Tractor Museum again, been wanting to go down there again anyway. Can't get to Jersey from here.
  8. I have a couple of CDs with old truck driving songs, one has the hot girl in short-shorts standing in front of the truck with her thumb in the air. One of my favorites is "Passing Zone Blues". I don't remember who sang it, but he was in Maryland "in the left lane, scraping gears, trying to get up the hill" and gets pulled over. Then he tells the cop "if you'll just let me go i'll crank this smoking Mack, stay behind...won't try to pass..."
  9. That truck's been sitting there a long time too, but it does get moved around once in a while. I saw this one parked at the Love's at Fairplain, W.V. a few years ago. Apparently still working, but i've never seen it since.
  10. I just went out to scrape the windshield and go to work. I didn't even know it was still sleeting until I went outside. Both doors were frozen shut on the pickup, I chopped my way in with the ax then started to hack about a quarter inch of ice off the windshield. Guess i'll wait a while, but it's not supposed to get over 30 today. 28 now. Stupid ice...
  11. The first B model is a great picture. I pass by Bridgeville all the time but i've never gotten off the interstate there.
  12. Oh, so that's why it's called sunny south Florida, eh? I hope hurricane season ain't too bad down there this year.
  13. Lyrics[edit] Well they gave him his orders in Monroe Virginia Sayin' Steve you're way behind time This is not 38, this is ole' 97 You must put her into Spencer on time So he turned around and said to his black greasy fireman To shovel on a little more the coal And when we cross that White Oak Mountain You can watch ole' 97 roll It's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville It's a line on a three mile grade It was on that grade that he lost his airbrakes You can see what a jump he made He was goin' down that grade makin' 90 miles an hour When his whistle broke into a scream He was found in the wreck with his hand on the throttle Scalded to death by the steam So ladies you must take warnin' From this time on and learn Never speak harsh words to your true lovin' husbands They may leave you and never return I said ladies you must take warnin' From this time on and learn Never speak harsh words to your true lovin' husbands They may leave you and never return, They may leave you and never return
  14. That's "The wreck of the Old 97", it crashed in Danville .
  15. This is getting ridiculous.
  16. Yes, I was sitting in my room at this small college at this undisclosed location somewhere in the midwest when I suddenly got the munchies just before 2am. I walked down to the local convenience store to get some Doritos and there was only one person in the store, who just happened to be a beautiful blonde, and she was also the head cheerleader at this small college I attended at this undisclosed location somewhere in the midwest. As I walked in we looked into each other's eyes. Then she walked to the front door and turned the "closed" sign on and locked the door. Then she turned to me and said "hurry up and get your $#!t and get the f+*k out , or i'll call the campus po-leece- we close at 2".
  17. Oh yeah...that helps a great deal with my research on sand pounding and hitting the bricks- I mean sales girls...
  18. It's open all the way to Mt. Storm now but I haven't been over there for a while. Used to go across there to Oakland, Md. but it's been a bad winter for selling lumber. I don't know where the raspberry flavor comes from, but it's in there somewhere. I bought a bag of them at the truckstop in Barkeyville,Pa. last year and hadn't seen them since until last week. I even asked the guy delivering candy at a store around here about them and he said they were a temporary promotional type deal. Dark chocolate is good for you too... I keep telling myself that anyway. I delivered the mats right there at exit 23 on 79. You can see them from the interstate, on the east side of I-79.
  19. None. Of course they're calling for snow tomorrow night and Monday- this winter's been ...very wintery.
  20. They were gray when I bought them last week, today they had turned a kinda greenish-purple, but I just scraped them off before I cooked them and they were fine.
  21. This is indeed truck related, because truck drivers gotta eat too, right? I made this today. First I took an aluminum pan and lined it with tin foil, same as tin foil hats are made from. Then I poured a little olive oil in it and added the two steaks that I bought from the reduced bin last week, and covered them with Grill Mates Montreal Seasoning and some garlic powder. Then I cut up 2 potaters and an onion and put them in the pan. Then I added a container of fresh mushrooms and a package of frozen baby carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower. Put a stick of butter on top and sealed it up with more tin foil. Then I prepped and coated a slab of ribs with my home made rub. Now I can have steak and vegetables today, and ribs and left over vegetables tomorrow- planning ahead you see. I put the steak and vegetables on the grill over direct heat, cooked the ribs over indirect heat for a while, flipped them over for a while, then wrapped them and put them over direct heat and moved the vegetables off to the side to finish cooking, after moving the steaks from the bottom of the pan to the top. So good I just had to share... Other Dog enjoyed it too.
  22. As much as i'd hate to "rat" on anyone, and never have, I might be tempted to make a call in this case. That's just an accident waiting for a place to happen. Good thing he used a Craftsman wrench instead of some no-name "made in China" wrench or it might have already happened. And to keep on doing it knowing the 5th. wheel was bad, instead of getting it fixed?..that's just crazy!
  23. That truck's been there for several years I know, doesn't look like it's been moved at all. I took this picture of it in May,2011.
  24. Yes, it's right after you get through a couple of stop lights, on the right going east.
