  1. Holy mackerel, never heard of a turkey that big- you sure it wasn't an ostrich?
  2. Good spot to post this Dodge I saw on facebook today. This is the best looking big truck/pickup conversion i've seen!
  3. Yes, she's pretty famous all right- this was taken from her facebook page. What's the old saying?..oh, I remember- "she's taken more shots to the face than Joe Frazier!"
  4. It has a collar and tags on it, the guys in the shop said it belongs to the people across the fence and through the woods. They called the number on the tag and a woman came and picked it up one day, and said they were about to move- maybe the dog doesn't want to go with them! It's a real nice dog, playful too.
  5. I haven't done anything this week...well, hardly anything. I had a tooth pulled Monday so I was off. I've still got my wisdom teeth but they don't seem to be helping much. The lower one on the passenger side, as Joe would say, was giving me trouble but it's severely impacted so the dentist pulled a good molar that was next to it instead of going after the wisdom tooth. I was all for that plan. Still got stitches in my mouth. Then Tuesday I called headquarters and they gave me the option of going to Buffalo, N.Y. empty to pick up 2 machines coming back to Bedford, Va. or going to Roanoke and picking up a load of structural steel going to Richardson, Tx. that delivers Monday. I picked option no. 2. I did see these big Mack trucks in Roanoke. I saw a dog when I got back to the shop. It's been hanging around for a couple of weeks now, very friendly. I saw a red sky ...and the sun going down. Just got a call from the lovely Teresa Moore- she said the Texas load doesn't deliver until Tuesday, so i'll leave Sunday instead of tomorrow.
  6. I like this one- photo courtesy of Russell Macneil.
  7. Here's a couple- photos courtesy of Russell Macneil.
  8. That reminds me...tomorrow i'm going over to the Winfall Mall and sit on Santa's lap.
  9. not burned- it's tender, moist, and dee-licious!
  10. I remember Ma cooking them when my Daddy would kill one, him and my grandfather both liked to hunt turkeys. I was just a young'un, don't really remember how they were so it must not have been really good, or really bad.
  11. AND there's no spiders, snakes, or man eating crocodiles in New Zealand!..is there?
  12. I smoked 2 turkeys yesterday. I smoked them for 5 or 6 hours, one finished cooking in the smoker oven and I put the other one in the electric powered oven inside until the pop-up timer popped out. They get really brown on the outside, but they're never dry. One's for me, i'm going to take the other one to Cumberland so Ma and them can have some smoked turkey.
  13. Pretty cars, the 66-67 was my favorite body style.
  14. I got a turkey fryer for Christmas years ago and never used it, so I re-gifted it. Ever since I smoked the first one i've been smoking them ever since.
  15. I want this one-
  16. Thanks Paul, you have a nice Thanksgiving too- looks like you're off to a good start!
  17. You must have ESPN.
  18. What's with the high beams?
  19. H.H.Moore ordered a bunch of "deer whistles" to put on all the trucks one time. It was just a little plastic thing that stuck on the bumper. They worked too, I hit more deer while I had the thing on there than I ever did before, or since. Most of the deer I see along the road don't even move when you go by, but those whistles sure made them take off at a high rate of speed. Only trouble was they were just as likely to run out in front of you as run anywhere else. I pulled my deer whistle off and threw it away.
  20. I saw this one at a truck show, I doubt they would actually haul anything on this bed- Saw this one at a truck show too, you can haul a dozer on it.
  21. At least I didn't rub my eyes or scratch my unit after handling the hot peppers.
  22. Made some hot sauce today. That's my whole pepper crop after processing- Lot of work cleaning and processing- I forgot to get rubber gloves, my hands are still burning. At least I remembered not to rub my eyes or scratch my- never mind, moving on- I added some store bought sauce to make it redder, since most of the peppers were green. I like for it to be red. Got it cooking now, bottles clean and ready. Final product. Used 12 of my new bottles and recycled some I had saved.
  23. I've been "Moonshiner" since about 1978 or 1979. They used to put our CB handle on the door at H.H.Moore's and people would ask me all the time, even at toll booths, "how'd you get that handle?..do you make it?..drink it?..sell it?..got any?" And the answer is no, well, a time or two, no, and no. It's only because I saw a red and white 68 or 69 Camaro at Richmond Dragway that was called Moonshine Runner, 10 second car, had the name and the picture of a hillbilly with a jug on the side of it. I thought that would be a good CB handle. I had a 68 Camaro at the time- it was about a 28 second car, had a 6 cylinder and 3 speed- anyhow, people just shortened it and started calling me moonshiner and it stuck, so i've been Moonshiner ever since.
