  1. Merry Christmas Speed! Truck looks pretty solid anyway, not a lot of rust there.
  2. Yeah, a little bit. I went to the Winfall Mall to sit on Santa's lap but he was so busy I had to sit on one of his helper's lap. Good thing he had three helpers with him, because I didn't have a lot of time. I liked it so much I got back in line and sat on all their laps.
  3. Yep, they always have some nice ones there.
  4. I jarred it this morning... ended up with 7 quarts, one half pint jar, and a little juice glass full. I drank the juice glass. Too bad the recipe makes so much, i'd tweak it a little. It's very sweet, and you can not taste the alcohol. What I used was only 80 proof, i'd cut back on the sugar, cider and apple juice is already sweet anyway, and maybe increase the liquor amount just a little bit. But it's good!
  5. ...moonshine that is. I've been hearing Dave Moody talking about "apple pie moonshine" on his radio show on the NASCAR channel on sirious/xm for a few years now. I finally went to his website ( http://www.godfathermotorsports.com/ ) and got the recipe. I was going to post it here, but I took a picture of what I wrote down the other day, since I type with one finger. We had to go to Altavista this morning after I got home from work so I picked up all the gredients...first time i've been in the liquor store in years. Got this clear corn liquor- ...and it's very clear...that I have no idea if this is half a liter, but it looks about right. Anyway, I'm at the "allow to cool" stage now. If i'm not heard from for a few days, it was probably very good- I'm not even a liquor drinker. And on the way home I stopped at that new store in Winfall to get some gasoline.
  6. Nice! First truck I ever drove was a 1974 Transtar. Matter of fact, so was the second and third trucks I drove, then I went to F models. H.H.Moore had dozens of them, along with a couple of Macks and two KW's. A couple were Eagles, the rest were the basic models with 290's, VT903's, and 350's in them. Very popular trucks then, you probably saw more of them on the road than anything else.
  7. Got my "real" computer back. To quote Bob- "woo-hoo!" This is a road shot from the east side of Moorefield, W.V. You can barely see the smoke from the Mt. Storm power plant in the center of the picture, on top of the mountain. The other pic.I posted at first was taken on rt. 560, south of Oakland, Md, probably 20+ miles away from the power plant, this is taken from at least that far away from the other side. Sharp looking White there, too much stuff around it to get a good picture of it though. A couple more rt. 219 "road to Buffalo" snow pictures.
  8. This poor woman might have been stuck too, but I didn't have time to stop and ask.
  9. Just took it as I was driving by Vlad, have a little Nikon "point and shoot" and had it set on "auto".
  10. Oh boy.......Merry Christmas everyone. I have to work tomorrow, just got to drop a trailer in Lynchburg, then go back Thursday and pick it up. What time can you pick me up Randy? Going to get my computer today, the guy fixed it for $50, and the part was $25. My son said he thought I might have sticker shock, I told him no,I thought just the part would cost $50 or more. I'm going to give him $60 since it's almost Christmas, and it's good to know a computer guy!
  11. I only stopped at Sapp Bros. in Clearfield to eat one time, but they had one of the biggest and best buffets i'd ever seen.
  12. What they ^^^^ said. Reminds me of the old saying Paul- "there are no atheists in foxholes."
  13. Me too Mark, I did grab another shot after i'd passed it, but you still can't see much detail. That jobsite was at a gas well and most of those gas and fracking companies are from out west, have workers from all over the country.
  14. I can tell the difference, prairie dogs stand on their hind legs and look around and squirrels just sit, or jump around from one thing to another.
  15. We like to watch them -they are my friends.
  16. Hi Jay...yellow who?..I didn't know what that thing was, that job was in Ohio, near Hanoverton.
  17. This week I saw another prairie dog in the back yard. And I saw a big red Mack in South Boston, Va. Saw a big yellow machine. Seen what looked like a fire up ahead. Yep, it's a fire...no doubt about it. Then I saw another big yellow machine at this jobsite in Ohio. I had to follow this escort van to the unloading site. Along the way I saw this big yellow truck and another fire. Oversize load waiting to get in. This appeared to be a long nose 9500 GMC with an integral sleeper, never seen the likes of this before. The power plant at Mt. Storm, W.V. from just south of Oakland, Md. Power plant from the junction of rt. 42 and 93 in Mt. Storm. Road shots, rt. 50 in W.V. Superliner dump truck. Unidentified creature spotted on the back porch this morning.
  18. I want one of them there meglinating multi function power tools.
  19. I've lurked around at his shows a few times myself.
  20. reminds me of an old joke- what's long and hard on a North American driver? ...the third grade.......................(crickets chirping)
  21. I've used Zephyr before to do it by hand, seemed to work pretty good. Best I used was a home made concoction, the guy-an owner operator by the way- said he melted down the polishing bricks, mixed in some-hmmmmm, I forgot. Mineral spirits maybe? And some other ingredients, anyway, he sold it for $5 a bottle, usually a 20 oz. Mtn. Dew bottle, but it worked great.
  22. Perhaps I should give them a try, i've been looking at them. I smoke too much too, if I miss a turn or something I light up, and driving through several whiteouts going to Buffalo last week i'd be smoking 3 or 4 at a time.
