  1. It was in the new Wheels of Time that just came this week. The black and white ads were in a new Truck Round Up magazine, so they're probably all still for sale.
  2. I was doing the same routine this week, mill rolls from Petersburg to Milton. Not much new to see, so i'll try to have even more gripping descriptions than usual. Lot of snow still around Tuesday, but blue sky and dry roads. Saw some beasts- ...and this thing- Saw this moron come off the ramp at a high rate of speed, hit the left lane, pass everybody on the highway, and was gone- all with that little donut spare that looked like a bicycle tire. Planes in the field. A house on the hill. Going up a hill on the W.V.Turnpike. The tunnel you used to go through is off to the left. Going west up North Mountain. Just to the right of that spot on the window you can see old rt. 60, there's a hairpin turn there by the spot. Saw this trucking terminal across the river from the turnpike. Smith's Transfer used that terminal, several companies use it now I think, there's a couple of Pitt-Ohio trucks backed up to doors in the picture but they're kind of hard to see. Speaking of trucking companies, never heard of this outfit before- could be out of Winfall. Saw this unit in the mirror yesterday. I thought it was hauling mail until it passed me, then I saw the tail gate and realized it was a chip truck. You can see the vent holes in the second picture. That's only the second straight truck i've ever seen hauling chips. I got to Milton about 4:30 Wednesday evening, unloaded, then had to wait until 11:30 yesterday morning for them to finish the roll they were working on. This one was ready, and the other one was part of the set. They said it was "urgent" so I waited on it, and they unloaded them in Petersburg last night. I bob tailed down to Sheetz while I was waiting to get a sammich. I picked up this little "Trucks for Sale" magazine while I was there, "Truck Round Up". Anyway, it had some interesting units in it for sale. This one in "Wheels of Time" might be the bargain of the day though-
  3. I was hoping all the snow was pretty much over with...guess not. Looks like this here this morning-
  4. I saw it when they brought it to Brad Wike's. This was July,2011.
  5. My friend Larry Wales' Diamond Reo Raider he used to own in Massachusetts.
  6. True that. I guess there are those who would like to see me go out and monkey up, but I'm gonna do what I think is best. No need to take a chance on bending, breaking, or hurting anything. And like I said, headquarters called and told me to stay put this morning anyway.
  7. Yes, it's best to give it a day. It's one thing to get caught out in it, but to leave home and go get in it is a horse of a different hue. It's just not worth it...snow's picking up again now.
  8. I'm going back there pretty soon, they've gotten a lot of new stuff since i've been.
  9. Down to 25, and still snowing. Not snowing very hard now though.
  10. .
  11. They don't even have the turnpike cleared. Usually they'll have the turnpike clean, 64 from the Va. line to Beckley is usually the worst part. Don't see any cameras on Sandstone Mountain. http://www.wv511.org/#CameraPopup:532760 Just got a call from headquarters- they said to just stay home today. I'd already pretty much came to the same conclusion. Still snowing hard.
  12. I don't know what to do- guess i'll sit tight for a while. I looked at traffic cameras on trafficland, va511, and wv511. Looks like the interstate from Covington to Charleston is snow covered now. It was 36 degrees and raining when I got up, now it's 32 and sleeting. Only supposed to get worse during the day, calling for 27 degrees and snow this evening, down to 9 tonight. Maybe i'll just wait until tomorrow, supposed to be 36 degrees and cloudy, but no snow. Oh...just glanced out the kitchen window, and it's stopped sleeting- now it's snowing, hammer down!
  13. It might help to get the speedometer fixed before you go to court too. If you tell the judge it was broken, and show him the receipt where you had it fixed, he might reduce it to defective equipment or something.
  14. Seen this one on facebook.
  15. You have a quadruplex, but you shift it like a triplex on the road.
  16. Where in Va. are you? I'm near Lynchburg, drive for F.L.Moore and Sons out of Concord, Va.
  17. It remains a mystery...perhaps an alien abduction case.
  18. Of course- if it's on the internet, it's got to be true. I heard that on the TV.
  19. I don't need anything moved to Texas, but i'd hate to see you miss your wedding so i'll donate a few bucks to the RowdyRebel'sweddingfunddrive.
  20. you're not in Brisbane, you're in New Hampster- says so right there.
  21. Not much to be seen this week, been running mill rolls from Petersburg, Va. to Milton, W.V. all week. I should be in Milton right now, but I had to wait 10 hours last night while they finished cutting the second roll. Got there about 4:30-quarter to 5 yesterday evening and left this morning at 4am. Went straight to Petersburg and unloaded and loaded up another one, which i'll just take up there Monday. The wind has been wicked all week, not just Tuesday. I think yesterday was the worst- weather channel in Lewisburg said there were gusts up to 55mph. Here's a picture of the wind blowing- ...OK, moving on- I did get a better picture. Neat looking tall skinny house in Iron Gate, Va. Even has a red and yellow Smart Car in the driveway. Saw this parking lot coming down Sandstone Mountain with his trailer brakes smoking. He went in the runaway ramp- I was talking to NoClueJoe66 on the phone and watching in the mirror, I think he managed to get it stopped on the edge of the escape ramp without getting over in the pea gravel. He wasn't going all that fast, and if you get in the gravel you aren't coming out without a wrecker, and probably a substantional bill. Fueled at Lee-Hi- lot different now than in Mark's picture, and I didn't even get all of it in the picture. Saw one of those SGT trucks this morning. The Mack trucks lined up at the mill. They load beams on these trailers up there where the Big Red Taylor is and carry them out to the yard where they're stockpiled. The gps- A while back A driver going west on 460 asked me if I knew where the sawmill he was going to in Blackstone was. I told him "yeah, just turn left at the first Blackstone exit, it's rt.460 business, sawmill's a little ways on the left." Then he said "oh, never mind, my gps said to turn here." So he turned there... It was still 15 miles to Blackstone. He should have turned here- There's the sawmill he was looking for, up there on the left.
  22. I usually put at least three chains and three straps on the rolls. Can't use chains on the ring or the part that goes in the bearings, so I try to get a strap across the ring and one on each side of the ring. No telling how long the bar was cracked, might have put too much pressure on a load of lumber.
