  1. Sure looks strange, that driving on the wrong side of the road thing...
  2. ...been thinking about changing my user name to terrapin man, but I wouldn't wanna be associated with the Maryland Terrapins, a Hokie foe in the ACC. I like the VT Hokies and whoever's playing UVA on any given week.
  3. I got one of this Dodge wrecker that's sitting there, the U or DM is sitting back a good ways from the road, and it's facing away from the road.
  4. I've never stopped there either, sometimes they have a truck parked there by the building and I wouldn't want to be parked in their spot if they came in while I was looking around taking pictures. I go by there all the time, either run 60 up to 20 and 39 to get to rt. 19 at Summersville if i'm going 79 north up to Pittsburgh or Erie, and I run 60 all the way to and from Charleston pretty often, especially if I can't make all my "documents" match up.
  5. now that's pretty neat stuff!
  6. yes it is, at least everybody's facing the same direction in this one.
  7. You must be following me...thought I saw you in the mirror the other day.
  8. They only had this Diamond T when I was there last, I'm gonna have to make another trip down there soon. and these Macks ...and this Brockway

  10. There was also an F.L.Moore and Sons T800 in the parade that was not on the facebook page.
  11. Saw these pics on facebook on the Keystone Tractor Works page. This truck was posted here at an auction a while back, apparently it's in the Keystone Tractor Museum now. All these trucks from the museum were in the Parade Against Cancer yesterday in Charlotte county. I wish i'd gone just to see and hear the highbinder and the big Diamond T drive by. I was going to be in the Appomattox Railroad Festival Parade myself, in the cement mixer truck, but it was raining all day and I need wiper blades and the brake lights weren't working, plus I had to go to Madison Heights to pick up some glasses by 1 o'clock, then had to go get all the ingredients to make another stew for a benefit next weekend...always something, eh?
  12. Hi Mike, where've you been so long?
  13. Saw an ad for this website in the last issue of "Old Time Trucks"- http://www.fatjacksplace.com/index.html Didn't check it out until today and it has a little of everything- books, maps, picture discs, and much more. You can even buy new custom made gear shift knobs, might be of interest to a lot of folks.
  14. nah, she can handle herself well- she's tough!

  16. evidently...
  17. OK...
  18. ...and later I saw this poorly photochopped girl sitting in this driveway.
  19. Stopped by the feed store in Winfall on the way home, just to look around.
  20. much heavier than a Ferguson tractor, eh?
  21. There's tons of them here- http://www.pennyanexpress.com/photo-gallery/trucks Some Macks and others too, but mostly Brockways.
  22. I'd go with a generator too. Can't remember the guy's name, but he had 3 trucks, used to haul into Handy in Lynchburg a lot, and he had A Honda generator mounted on the frame right behind the sleeper on all his trucks. Ran portable heaters, air conditioners, and whatever you wanted. He said it didn't burn much gas, it was quiet, and way cheaper than an APU.
  23. I remember giving milk bone dog biscuits a try when I was a kid. This post and last week's stew reminds me of a story my father in law told many times. He says it's true- I was not there, but I knew some of the parties involved and it sounds about right. He was at a stew at a well known dignitary in Appomattox's hunting cabin near the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. Alcohol was involved in the story- much alcohol. The stew chef kept his stir paddle sitting near the stew pot, by a tree or something. While he was away from his post a drunk came stumbling along and stepped in some dog poo. He grabbed the first thing he found to scrape it off his shoe- which was the stew paddle. He then set the paddle back where it was and continued on his way. The stew chef came back and the first thing he did was grab the paddle and give the stew a stir. Pop said he saw the whole thing and didn't say anything...but he didn't eat any stew.
